This looks so brutal and I love it lol. Toss a hundred bucks into it for a serious upgrade and I'd really like to see what it can do. Mitch Wizards needs to let you be in charge of the precons they come out with. Give you a budget and maybe a small outline of things you can do then let ya go ham.
In my old playgroup I was known as the "Worldslayer Guy." It's my favorite card, and I love trying to figure out how it works in commander. I looked at Garna for a long time along with other commanders but ultimately abandoned the project as I slowly stopped playing the game. Hopped back in recently with Strixhaven, my favorite set currently, and might pick up my blessed work once more.
Build a 'Toski' commander deck
Garna has been my pet deck since she came out in the last Dominaria. She's my favorite deck and has more than a few "oops I win" combos but always gives me a headache to play.
From the moment I saw this card years ago I knew it was amazing. I have it in my Party deck and another budget deck i built where she is the commander.
The new Lagomos hand of hatred would be a great budget include with all the deaths in this deck it should be easy to get 5 then with garnas haste you can tutor the turn he drops for more cost reducers or a finisher
One thing I really like about watching videos like this showing off deck builds is that even when I don't like the deck itself for any reason, I usually find good (and with this channel, budget) cards that work in other decks I'm building myself, ones I like the idea of more, cards I myself didn't think of or know about because of how difficult it can be to research things.
Like take this deck for example. Personally not a huge fan of it. Not that its bad, just... idk, doesn't seem like a good fit for me. But as its a deck based around sacrificing stuff and things dying, which I do have for decks I'm working on myself with slight differences that better fit my personal tastes, there's a lot here that works well. Like my own Rakdos colours deck that's based around sacrificing (kind of aristocrat, but with a lot of making my opponents sac stuff too), where I was having difficulty finding a suitable commander, but I found a good one among the 99 here that I wouldn't have found on my own because I was a bit too focused on a sacrifice outlet commander instead of one that does stuff when creatures die. Or for my Golgari colours deck based around things dying to make my stuff stronger to eventually swing with beatsticks, I've found a few black and colourless cards that work beautifully for it watching this. Even found some that just work well with cards I like that just give ideas for my own decks, but I likely wouldn't have found the cards myself for the combos, and they wouldn't have been in one of these videos because its far from budget, but since I have the expensive card in the combo already anyway, I don't have to worry too much about that.
So even when the deck itself doesn't interest me, it doesn't feel like a waste of time because of the inspiration for my own stuff. Its beautiful.
Hmm. Tormod, Konrad, and Desecrated Tomb would probably send this deck into the stratosphere. Also, as someone already said, Altar of Dementia is ridiculous.
Tormod doesn't work as well, since he only makes one zombie per Garna recursion, but he's decent regardless.
Tormod and desecrated are value which get´s generated when the deck could win/is already winning. They seem nice in the 99, until u notice that Deathrender + Gray Merch/Fireblade Charger/Mayhem Devil let u win on the Spot. This is true for so many more 3/4/5 cardcombos in this deck.
All your cards do is create more tokens, which the deck uses to generate mana with phyrexian/ashnod, to create more garna casts/etb´s/ltb´s. But as i said, your just spinning the wheel more, instead of just to win on the spot.
Tormod and Desecrated Tomb say one or more, so you'd only get 1 Zombie/Bat
Don't forget priest of gix, preist of ursbrask and good ol dockside extortionist

I've tried this commander for years now, because I like the machanic, but I never made it work.
Yesterday I won my first game with Garna in my LGS with your decklist, amazing!

Something I appreciate about the rules of magic: theres a period where garna’s static ability is in effect but the etb hasnt resolved yet, so you can use all your tap effects in response to the etb to make mana which is super relevant as you cycle them through your graveyard
Faceless Butcher is a must in Garna EDh. Butcher targeting Garna, sac all the things, sac Butcher, Garna brings everybody back including butcher so you can do it again.
I actually built a clunkier version of this deck, but I'd built it on a budget at the time. Glad to see Garna getting the love
I used the same theme. I thought how can I pseudo Panharmonicon all those etb mana creatures and realized I could just use Flasmeshadow Conjuring and use the red mana created through Thermopod or the ETBs to get double the mana.
And with the token leaving anyway I can sac that for mana too. During a match I realized I can actually keep some of the tokens and stack up the army and use the haste Garna grants to end the game.
Budget Version for Flasmshadow Conjuring: Mirror March. More luck depending but als more explosive.
I've got a pauper EDH version of this deck that I absolutely love. I've got a bunch of low cost cycling cards to get to my combo pieces faster, so once the deck gets going I can really chew through a lot of cards in a turn. Thermopod is definitely my MVP as well, card is nutty.

Built your Sisay deck as my very first intro to the game, and while i’ve heavily customized it with cards like Esika and Mirri i’ve never once taken Garna out, she’s THAT good.

I enjoy Garna with my non-combo Anje deck. Bringing all those maddness creature cards back and discarding again is so fun. Especially when going off on someone else's turn.
I was hoping it'd be the new Garna. She looks like she could be fun. Maybe the drawing cards only in combat is too much of a downside.

would you consider faceless butcher for this deck? and if yes which card would you take it out for?
Seeing this makes me realize that if you put money into a deck like this, it really could be powerful. Such as putting ashnods altar into the deck or even getting Bolas's Citadel. Not terribly expensive cards, but they do impact the cost of a deck like this.
When talking about Thermopod and recasting “the commander” how does one gain the black mana needed to recast Garna?
you just need one of the guys like blood pet. I once had a deck like that which even used the iron and leaden myrs. Since Garna gives them haste you can get the mana from them as well...
I concur, this is indeed broken, effective, budget Rakdos storm. Immediate higher budget upgrades would be red elemental blast and whatever the other anti-counter red instant is called, anything to stop your opponents from exiling your graveyard with the tombs or otherwise, some mana rocks and other ramp to get everything prepped, and swap out the x spells for some immediate game enders. I'm not a cEDH guy, but it might border on cEDH at that point.
I love this version of her. I wonder if it's possible to build a deck around the new one that is OK.

I’m honestly not surprised that a Rakdos commander gets this kind of scrutiny. Rakdos has always been a strong color identity, and as Mitch has proven, there’s plenty of mana ramp available, even without the convenience of green. That’s what we now have Treasures for, and *all* red decks have access to the best Treasure generators. Pair all that with Rakdos’ long-standing tradition for aggression and speed, and yes, “broken” is a good word here.

I have Garna deck which can win around turn 3. She is strong on the right deck.
If you make the extra effort to grab sneak attack, Garna becomes 1000% better
I have an awesome Garna deck that yes, is absolutely broken. She's such an incredible commander that surprised my entire playgroup when I built her. If you only splurge on one card for this deck, Altar of Dementia is completely silly

The discard 2 is a bit much, discarding one is ok
@@mibbzx1493 they come back to your hand, so you can discard them a 2nd time. 6 creatures in your hand makes 3 zombie, commander brings them back and you discard. 6 zombies and the commander 15 dmg swing. Just an idea
harvester of Souls is totally an underplay card. If somebody's trying to kill you Aristocrat Style. Every time that a persist/nontoken creature dies you get to draw a card looking for an answer🙃

Garna can be very broken, but this build is super-clunky and way too reliant on Garna. If Garna gets countered even just once or twice, your deck comes to a grinding halt since all of your interactions and combos are relying on Garna's ETB. All of a sudden, you go from an absolutely insane combo deck to a super-clunky and sluggish aristocrats deck. It is always good to have backup gameplans, and this deck has none. No backup wincons. Its just play some pieces and hope Garna sticks. There also is nowhere near enough interaction in this deck. This deck would likely get eaten alive at a competent table, and with alot of your stuff being 4+ cmc, it would take a long time to rebuild after your board is dealt with.
This deck, while flavorful and fun, will definitely have a tough time at even a mid-level table unless all of the other players are also running minimal to no interaction, which is very unlikely.

MVP of every Garna Deck ? A silly slug Thermopod? Sorry that I have to say NoNoNo to this. Deathrender is THE MVP card in every Garna Deck.
Why do i know? Well, i am one of those 200 tards on edhrec who play Garna since she got released 4 years ago. Trust me. Deathrender+Garna it´s magical.
Also Grapeshot is a lame "finisher" piece with no synergy. Fireblade charger does the same Job (finish your "friends") in this deck, and is a creature, which is better than a sorcery. Or a Mayhem Devil. gray merch ...
