I only bought the first one because it was cheaper to get the amount of minies than any other source during a sale on amazon, but I have to say, I really like the game now that I actually played it. I am keeping an eye open for sales on the expansions, and I will keep my eye open for this one too
I get that it may confuse newcomers when there's multiple starter sets, but what's the problem of getting more of something? I mean okay, you probably don't need gates, tunnels and stairs again, but I am actually quite happy for another main board, since my old one got stained. And there's no harm in more wound and fire tokens, right? The cultists are the main part of base game stuff here, so I get paying for ten minis you don't need is annoying, but they're quite the improvement in my eyes. The old ones are a bit goofy after all... And then there's new player colors, which, while unnecessary, I quite enjoy. The new dark red looks great!
How do you feel about a third core box (which they just crowd funded)? At this point why is it necessary? Just release more seasons. The biggest problem for returning customers is the core box scenarios tend to be watered down due to the need to make them easier for new players.
How do you get this one to be only 90 mins?? O_o The first game (any of the 15 eps) takes us at least 2 hours and my group is very used to it. Played with half of a new group (2 new players out of 4) a couple days ago and it took us 4 hours. I had to teach it, so it did take a bit longer due to that.
I grab that info from the BGG entry. For myself, I usually play it solo or 2 player, so 1 and 1/2 - 2 hours is pretty accurate. With 4 I can see it going longer.
Small correction, season two uses some tiles from season one, so S2 doesn't fully work if you only have 3. 4 works with any season though. It even comes with an Unknown Monster Board.
I'm a bit confused: Nemesis Lockdown and Retaliation are sequels -- they're totally different, standalone games that don't interact with the original; they aren't expansions at all... Marvel United on the other hand -- yeah, definitely understand you there; I've got 3 full sets of duplicate tokens lol
Retaliation is a different game, Lockdown is not much different from the original. Lockdown, could've been implemented as an expansion, without the need for new alien miniatures, which is a large part of the cost.
You can use some of the stuff from OG Nemesis in Lockdown tho. Like Carnomorphs, Voidseeders, and some of the characters from OG into Lockdown. But yeah outside of that I don't think you can use Lockdown backwards with OG Nemesis.
Nice review!! We are having a blast playing through the scenarios...

Nice review. For the most part I like the way that cmon expansion works. I own CDMD s1 and Im looking forward fo s3 and s4.
Thanks. For the most part the expansions work fine, the two core boxes are confusing to new buyers, especially retail customers.
I’m confused. New player to the C:DMD series. Do I start with the original box from 2019? Or just this new one?
Both are on sale for Prime week.
You can start with either one, the new one has some extra modular expansions you can add (relics and unknown monsters), so I recommend that one.
@@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj how can I get/buy the Cthulhu monster? I think that’s only in Box 1.
@@pedrog4651 Yes, Cthulhu is in Box 1, you have to buy that box to get him.

Cultists in the original box have 2 poses

How many characters do you control? @@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj
I usually play with 2
@@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj ooh, I see.
We typically play with three players and do so pretty much every week, I personally think 90-120 minutes is pretty correct.
So you can get seasons 2,3,4 and play the game normally but you just miss having Cthulhu as the final boss?
No, you need one of the base boxes (season 1 or 3) season 2 and 4 are expansions. Cthulhu comes with season 1.
I should also mention season 2 and 4 work with either 1 or 3.
Small correction, season two uses some tiles from season one, so S2 doesn't fully work if you only have 3. 4 works with any season though. It even comes with an Unknown Monster Board.
Thanks, I forgot about that.
