The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Adventure Game Review
Looks good, I didnt see a standee version on kickstarter?
The core pledge (lowest pledge level) comes with standees, and then you can add on the miniature packs.
Do you know if all retail boxes come with the dual layer player boards?
No, all I can say is that the retail version I bought did.
Sanctum was lifted to me by a friend early in the hobby. I've never traded it or sold it. I find it to be hella-fun and just crunchy enough that I don't forget how punchy it can be. It's tragic that it didn't catch on as you said. I would have loved to see more content. Thank you for keeping hope alive.
Thank you for all the time you did on this play through!
I get that it may confuse newcomers when there's multiple starter sets, but what's the problem of getting more of something? I mean okay, you probably don't need gates, tunnels and stairs again, but I am actually quite happy for another main board, since my old one got stained. And there's no harm in more wound and fire tokens, right? The cultists are the main part of base game stuff here, so I get paying for ten minis you don't need is annoying, but they're quite the improvement in my eyes. The old ones are a bit goofy after all... And then there's new player colors, which, while unnecessary, I quite enjoy. The new dark red looks great!
How do you feel about a third core box (which they just crowd funded)? At this point why is it necessary? Just release more seasons. The biggest problem for returning customers is the core box scenarios tend to be watered down due to the need to make them easier for new players.
Thanks man, this was actually a pretty solid review! Really helps me to make up my mind about this game! 👍
Your video convinced me to back. Great stuff man!
Been looking for this game for a while! Looking forward to the play through.
25:09 Think of LOS between two spaces as the entities being anywhere on those spaces, and not in a particular location within that space. So, in that example, the chimera could be right at the opening of the door and trace a straight line pass the other doorway on the right, through the room with the loot and to the space at range 5, on the far right. Even though the rules for LOS do not involve any ruler to trace LOS, its still works pretty accurately imo.
I like that the LOS rules are simple, the problem is more with me and how many games with LOS rules are in my head :)
Nice review!! We are having a blast playing through the scenarios...
16:45 this is exactly my case , thanks for making the video
Im on the fence about pledging the veteran pack. $200+ tho.. do you think it will be worth it?
For Awaken Realms I generally pledge at the base level, and add any gameplay expansions. I don't bother with component upgrades or minis.
Base or next level sundrop with playmats, usually. But I have limited space.
Great video 👍. I watched the first half so far and it’s really helpful. However, I noticed two things: - Radiation is also increased when performing other actions than moving, so the prepare action in a radiated zone increases your radiation level - you have to create an enemy pool at the side of the board from all the remaining enemies, so 3 dogs on the board means 2 dogs in the pool.
Thanks for the comment. You're right, I didn't realize the enemy pool setup is different in zone survival from the campaign.
I only bought the first one because it was cheaper to get the amount of minies than any other source during a sale on amazon, but I have to say, I really like the game now that I actually played it. I am keeping an eye open for sales on the expansions, and I will keep my eye open for this one too
Thanks for the retail unboxing! Wanted to know if it also has the double layered playrs boards. I hate it, when player boards have multiple tracks and are not double layered. It honestly became quite an important criterium for me for these kind of games.
Yes, it has dual layer player boards, if you want to see the game in action I posted a playthrough on my channel.
I couldn't help to think that this is what Nemesis Retaliation should have been. Stalker = Nemesis + campaign + beefed up gears + personal story?
A campaign Nemesis would be interesting. Can't comment on Retaliation, as I haven't tried it yet. But I like the idea of what they did with Retaliation.
Enormity is probably going to be the equivalent of a nemesis campaign.
That was a fun play through. Thanks
Thank you for this playthrought! Great video 🎉 I only watched until your encounter with the poltergeist yet. But you should definitely read about the critical injury mechanic of the game 😅 (page 29 in the rulebook).
Yeah, I realized I forgot about it after the game, luckily, I never actually got to 0 health.
I can do this all day
Hi suggestion please include in intro what the game is all about, since it will help in learning some mechanics at times
Good suggestion, I'll start doing that
I was confused about which overlay to use for the anomalies do you just pick one or they listed somewhere which ones go with which one?
The overlays are numbered (center of overlay), and in the back of the rulebook, it shows which numbers are related to which anomalies. Depending on the scenario and how many of each anomaly are on the board, you'll randomly pick overlays of the matching type.
ohhh man how did I miss that. Thanks
Cultists in the original box have 2 poses
Nice review. For the most part I like the way that cmon expansion works. I own CDMD s1 and Im looking forward fo s3 and s4.
Thanks. For the most part the expansions work fine, the two core boxes are confusing to new buyers, especially retail customers.
I’m confused. New player to the C:DMD series. Do I start with the original box from 2019? Or just this new one? Both are on sale for Prime week.
You can start with either one, the new one has some extra modular expansions you can add (relics and unknown monsters), so I recommend that one.
@@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj how can I get/buy the Cthulhu monster? I think that’s only in Box 1.
@@pedrog4651 Yes, Cthulhu is in Box 1, you have to buy that box to get him.
So you can get seasons 2,3,4 and play the game normally but you just miss having Cthulhu as the final boss?
No, you need one of the base boxes (season 1 or 3) season 2 and 4 are expansions. Cthulhu comes with season 1.
I should also mention season 2 and 4 work with either 1 or 3.
Small correction, season two uses some tiles from season one, so S2 doesn't fully work if you only have 3. 4 works with any season though. It even comes with an Unknown Monster Board.
Thanks, I forgot about that.
I would be interested in a mission in which two different AI factions appear. Can you say something about this mechanic or do you perhaps have a video planned about it?
Thanks for the unboxing. It’s nice to see the retail version instead of the deluxe for a change 👍
Yeah, I thought people might want to see what was in the retail box
Make that 1 or 2 Player's, maybe not even 2
I like the setback cards. They are a risk that you need to manage, like building up a bit of mobility against the movement ones, and spreading out disks in depth 3 so you don't get messed up by the "depth 3 card is replaced" one. They do make the game more difficult, and not playing with them is certainly an option to reduce difficulty, as is looking at which 4 setback cards you got, so you can prepare accordingly. A generic "they are absolute crap"? I disagree.
I go into more detail about why I don't like the coop implementation in my review
after getting mad and stopped watching cuz of constant mistakes. i skipped to 1:26:11 and robert should have 6 level ups but he only have 4. like wtf man. he has 4 levels from insanity and 2 from slaughter track
Yes, I realized that later in the video and pointed it out
dude you are shooting cultist that are like 4 spaces away. on turn 2 with robert...... look at the damn board my guy. it has spaces. you are thinking everything on one tile in is one space.
I'm a bit confused: Nemesis Lockdown and Retaliation are sequels -- they're totally different, standalone games that don't interact with the original; they aren't expansions at all... Marvel United on the other hand -- yeah, definitely understand you there; I've got 3 full sets of duplicate tokens lol
Retaliation is a different game, Lockdown is not much different from the original. Lockdown, could've been implemented as an expansion, without the need for new alien miniatures, which is a large part of the cost.
You can use some of the stuff from OG Nemesis in Lockdown tho. Like Carnomorphs, Voidseeders, and some of the characters from OG into Lockdown. But yeah outside of that I don't think you can use Lockdown backwards with OG Nemesis.
Nice review!
How do you get this one to be only 90 mins?? O_o The first game (any of the 15 eps) takes us at least 2 hours and my group is very used to it. Played with half of a new group (2 new players out of 4) a couple days ago and it took us 4 hours. I had to teach it, so it did take a bit longer due to that.
I grab that info from the BGG entry. For myself, I usually play it solo or 2 player, so 1 and 1/2 - 2 hours is pretty accurate. With 4 I can see it going longer.
How many characters do you control? @@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj
I usually play with 2
@@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj ooh, I see.
We typically play with three players and do so pretty much every week, I personally think 90-120 minutes is pretty correct.
Awesome play and I have this game in my collection underrated if you ask me
Yes, I think the price is holding it back, if they could get the price down, and clean up the rulebook, this would do much better.
Monster trail improves on your concern with the game. Additionally, the kickstarter includes an additional class card that differentiates each witcher a little more. I also find house ruling the combat cards that allow you to draw additional cards at the end of the turn more enjoyable when you can draw them immediately instead. This allows for more suspense, combos, and faster game play. Great review
Yeah, I've been waiting for the monster trail expansion to come to retail, I hope they still plan on doing that.
Great video the video quality is not the greatest must be using an iPhone or something but overall nice video
Thanks, this was my first video, I was still learning how to shoot them.
Thank you for sharing, great idea to see the new content with an old and familiar episode! Note that when you are attacked by several enemies, they each roll their attack separately which can make a big difference, for example when reaching insanity thresholds, because you can use your new skills for the next attack. Wouldn't have made a difference here, I think.
Yeah, I roll them all when it doesn't make a difference, but you're right, for the video I should've demonstrated the correct way.
Pretty sure he'd need to be in the next space up to use Marksman. Can't see an arrow between the starting space and the Cultists
@@psycosynthesis yeah he was fucking up ranged attacks so bad, shooting at cultist 2 and 4 spaces away. turn one he shot 2 spaces away. turn 2 just made me so mad i stopped watching. the cultist he shot was 4 spaces away and up and around a corner. like how brain dead is this guy. i bet he thinks this game is easy.
Yeah, I thought the tiles were connected. I play standing up when filming and with the lights, makes that board a bit hard to see. I'm not sure how I missed it in editing.
i have the first two seasons and i think it's a great game
Sure wish we could see what he is unboxing
Thanks for the feedback, are you looking for close ups of everything? Let me know so I can make these more useful going forward. I try to keep the unboxings short, and the kickstarters tend to have a lot of stuff.
hi! Great video! keep going! By the way, it is the first time that CMON puts a die on Marvel united.
I thought so, but there's so much content for this game. Thanks for the comment.
Where to store those cardboard pieces ? 😅
Yeah, I can't buy anymore, I've squeezed it all into the kickstarter box and one expansion box.
My recommendation for your next Mindclash Game: Anachrony. The time travel and worker placement element of the game made it for me. Love the theme and the action sequences that David Turczi created. Anachrony’s expansion, Fractures of Time, is a perfect follow up to the game. I have Voidfall. I love the solo mode. I don’t play it often. Work, family, table space, and friends always get in the way. But when I do play it, it’s amazing. The setup is a hike. But once it’s on the table, I want to solve the puzzle and win the game. Great job on the video.
Yes, I've been looking at that one, and Trickerion.
For me, the art is not good enough. I'm not one for beautiful artwork, but this just does not work for me.
This was a very helpful review! And just in time for the second printing campaign. Appreciated your specific thoughts and critiques of the rules, combat, adventuring, and campaign systems. The comparisons to other games in the genre were great too. Pretty sure I'm going to back this one. 😅 Would appreciate some chapter breaks in future videos, to make it easier to find certain sections
Thanks, yes, adding chapters is something I'm going to look into.
Thanks so much for reviewing our game! I’m really glad you liked it! Subscribed!
Best/easiest place to buy this game from?
401 Games still has copies in Canada
If you don't mind waiting a year, there's also the reprint Kickstarter campaign, it has some updates and extra characters
We are ready to jam this game now! I’ll check out 401?
Geez that's a huge box.
Yeah, it's actually bigger than necessary, the contents are approx the same as sleeping gods.
I am seeing that happen with many of my recent KS backed games. Regrettably. Ah, Sleeping Gods -- another one I do not own (yet) HaHa. @@ComePlaywithUs-vp4yj
Thanks for the video. Is this your favorite Runebound replacement or are there others to consider as well?
This is the only game I've played that's similar in feel. I haven't tried the Skyrim game, which looks like it could fill this niche as well.
Nice review! I reckon a new mic to boost the audio level will really help. I had to turn you way up just to hear. Looking forward to playing this when it arrives.
Strange, it is quiet, I wonder if I didn't turn the sound channel up high enough when I edited the video.
Nice review! I appreciate it very much. I'm still waiting for my copy to be delivered and I'm really looking forward to playing it. In the meantime I have to make do with watching playthroughs and reviews to get an early understanding of the game (haven't played FoA). But although I enjoyed your review, sometimes I had trouble following you, because you tend to drop away at the end of a sentence and it ends in a sort of mumbling, what causes me not fully understanding what you were saying. I hope you understand (please don't be offended). But still, thanks for the video. You still made a lot of things clearer for me! Cheers! :)
Thanks for the feedback, yes, I've noticed that too, something I need to work on.
