Beyond the beautiful music and talented singers, please let us not forget the fantastic flutist Teun Ramaekers, a fellow student of conductor Rieu during their music academy days. Teun has been the chief flutist in this orchestra for at least 15 years.
I couldn't agree more with what you said The voice of Susan adds a special touch to the music Teun is also brilliant when he plays the Pan flute to the lonely shepherd
The Last Rose Of Summer .
Absolutely beautiful, Suzan has an exquisite voice, a great loss to the JSO but is now married to Pierre, Andre's son, and they have 2 children. A truly great, moving performance, thank you all.
This is a beautiful song and most of all, played by orchestra of Andre Rieu and sung by Susan made this song more beautiful. I am now 82 and whenever I listen to this song, I remember my mother who used to sing this song.
Unworldly, does Robert Burns proud. Splendid venue with great classical singers. It would have been a night to remember to have been there. Everybody was looking good. Splendid.
Amazing! The Last Rose of Summer is a poem by the Irish poet Thomas Moore. He wrote it in 1805, while staying at Jenkinstown Park in County Kilkenny, Ireland, where he was said to have been inspired by a specimen of Rosa 'Old Blush'. [1] The poem is set to a traditional tune called "Aislean an Oigfear", or "The Young Man's Dream",[2] which was transcribed by Edward Bunting in 1792, based on a performance by harper Denis Hempson (Donnchadh Ó hÁmsaigh) at the Belfast Harp Festival.[3] The poem and the tune together were published in December 1813 in volume 5 of Thomas Moore's A Selection of Irish Melodies. The original piano accompaniment was written by John Andrew Stevenson, several other arrangements followed in the 19th and 20th century.

Edward Bunting is credited with transcribing this beautiful melody in 1792 based on a performance by harper Donnchadh Ó hÁmsaigh (Denis Hempson) at the Belfast Harp Festival. The Poem and the tune together were published in December 1813 . The original flowing piano accompaniment was written by John Andrew Stevenson. I have no doubt all four subscribers would be proud of this Fabulous rendition of their legacy..
Véletlenül akadtam rá itt erre a régóta keresett szépségre.
Sad eyes, she has, though her voice is beautiful, the high notes especially sweet, and she blends magically with wonderful instruments gently played. Such a spectacle of beauty, and gives rest to the weary heart.

Simply beautiful and wonderful performance of The Last Rose with Andre Rieu his orchestra, choir and the sopranos Suzan Erens (Holland), Carmen Monarcha (Brazil) and Carla Maffioletti (Brazil) in Kerkrade Holland, Music by Thomas Moore (1779-1852). Rubens de Liz from Florianópolis - SC - Brazil.
I love this because it is so beautiful. I recently watched a 1954 movie Twenty-Four Eyes about a Japanese teacher and her 12 students over about a 15 year period before and after WWII and the heartbreak of war and loss, including a third of her class, her husband and young daughter. The Last Rose was played at the girls funeral. Most touching!
Andre Rieu single-handedly keeps classical music alive in a world where rap and heavy metal rule. Great job Andre ! Keep selling out the biggest arena's all over the world. Pay no attention to ignorants like ro55do. I've never seen anyone pay a dime for his accomplishments.
The song and the mood that this performance is spreading in my soul, strikes me just as hard every time. The music starts and I have to hold my breath so I don´t miss a thing, and when the last notes reaches my ears, I notice that I yet again have tears in my eyes.
"The Last Rose of Summer" - As I approach my 70th year, I more appreciate the meanings contained in this beautiful song. This performance is truly inspired.
I stand corrected! I guess my point was that there was a little more than a casual connection and sometimes emotion trumps judgement. Nonetheless, she is beautiful and does have talent. We TH-cam commenters are sometimes ruthless in our judgements. I see a few issues with her voice training, but her voice is beautiful as is she. That's the thing I like about Andre, he showcases talent that otherwise might be overlooked. He loves music and enjoys a lively performance over absolute perfection.

Suzan Erens voice is non-comparable. You simply could not find a better one.
So beautiful song.
Kerkrade

Lau Avon
This is one of the most beautiful song in the would .

I first heard this song at age 16 during a performance of the opera Martha and was captured by the melody.
Now I have grown to feel the lyrics, too.
Las admiro y amo mucho Carla and Suzanne. Brillantes 💖hermosas
