      But it's active 3D, so it requires pricy and heavy glasses with batteries in them, which for me causes headaches if I watch for more than 30 minutes. I hope more good projectors come out with passive 3D instead.

    I'm so glad you liked the AWOL. I've been following you for a while and trust your reviews. I bought one of these when they first came out. It's a great product and for the most part, I am happy with it. Their customer service gets an A for effort. They try and EVENTUALLY they provide an answer. But I've contacted them several times and often feel like they don't know their product very well.

    Sweet, I hav a LG UST Projector and i love it. Even though it's only a 1080p it's image is quite sharp. Watching newer movies like Gemini Man or any Transformers/Godzilla. Detail is crazy. So, i can only think that a projector like this will be Mindblowing. One day i'll move up to a 4k UST. And this might b on my list.....

      I'm on the fence of getting this projector for my theater room. Will they add Dolby vision? Also in your experience do you think light carpet and walls mess with light bleed/black levels? Thanks so much

    • @noahone3923
      @noahone3923 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jepenyot Depends on how close the walls / carpet / ceiling is to the screen. If light colored carpet is roughly 2-3 ft away then don't bother. Walls on the other hand definitely reflect well and any sort of light colors are going to throw some scatter light onto the screen. If the walls are within 4ft of the edges of the screen I'd considering finding a more...matte finish paint and ....not to say very dark color but I personally do well with olive green as it seems to be almost black with the lights off. Ceiling.... well... same goes for it as walls do but its up to you how dedicated you want to be with that. I will say, I painted my last house's movie room ceiling black and it helped drastically however I think if I had it to do over, I'd found some sort of dark or black fabric to mount on the ceiling that covered around 2-3 feet from screen surface outward.

    Hi! I have an optoma hd28hdr with a screen bought many years ago from amazon. A cheap one as I remember. The thing is that we are not using it daily, but still I’m thinking on an upgrade. Sometimes we are using it during daytime as well, of course with poor image, but my 10yo is OK with that. :) I use the apple tv 4k and the sony ht-a9 sound system. My main problem is with the setup and all the cables in front of the chairs on a piano stool. :) Unfortunately I cannot fix them on the ceiling. So, what I’m interested in is to have an ust that I can keep on a table at around 47cm height and a 100” floor rising screen. Will the image be projected perfectly from that height? I don’t want to put everything on the floor in front of the screen. On the other hand, due to curent budget constraints, can I still use the current screen with the awol and get a better image than the optoma offers? And will 2500 be ok or should I go with the 3000? And maybe later an alr floor rising screen. Some people say that awol screens are of poor quality, especially floor rising that develop wrinkles on the sides. Thank you so much!

      @@samstrider3253 True, however passive screens on early FHD 3D TVs halved the resolution (and 1/4 for half sbs camcorder videos). I own also a active tv Samsung D8000 series and a passive LG monitor, and the big difference is motion handling, much worse on the monitor due to the lack of frame interpolation the epson pj and Samsung tv have, feeling like a passive screen at full resolution. Battery or sync never bothered me, I own both glasses with rechargeable and disposable batteries for different use, the rechargeable batteries sometimes fail, however that’s common on all battery devices, and they could be improved easily, it isn’t space technology!

      Yes. Those shutter glasses black out one eye at a time, 30+ times per second. The results is you just see the same image but it's dimmer and in 3D. A brighter projector is able to eliminate the downside of the image being dimmer in 3D.

    I can be so so wrong but my prediction is Avaatar film got 3d and companies tried to kill 3d though there are so many like me who loves high definition 3d and 4k both. I recently got Epson 9400 though it's a lamp based projector but only for 3d and 4k both together. Now as epson has introduced a new laser projector with 3d and then this one it seems companies are already gearing up for the new Avataar release. I believe 3d will be back as vinyals .

      It's funny you say that, because I contacted AWOL Vision back when the LTV-3500 did not support 3D and I made the case for why they should add 3D support. I told them to consider the "Avatar factor", in that there are 4 new movies being released in the coming years and all will sell 3D blu rays like hot cakes and without 3D support, their projectors will lose many sales because cinema enthusiasts will want the 3D Avatar saga experience on their home ultra short throw set up. Two weeks after I contacted AWOL Vision, they announced they are adding 3D support and they told me I was a big reason for that. That week I pre-ordered the LTV-3500, paired with a 120inch ALR screen and I literally set up the 3D today and watched Avatar in 3D in my home cinema. It's never looked better. The LTV-3500, produces possibly the best 3D picture money can buy and there's something really cool about the fact that it was my email to the company that pushed them to add 3D support.

      @@saikatbose8370 Ok unfortunately it’s too much for me, I am still with my old Epson 2045 (despite its low contrast, like many entry vobulated DLPs) with frame interpolation in 3d and a Darbee 5000s. I also bought 2 used 3d TVs for 200$.

      100% Better Than Formovie, in a different class. You buying the BS that the sole distributor for Formovie in the US made up with the Laser Showdown that didn't include BRIGHTNESS!!

      @BrendanEvansX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@homemediapatrol3784 nah I have the Formovie and it's exceptional. I just want to know what Shane thinks lmao. It's not always JUST about brightness. Like realistically there's NO NEED for such high levels if you have a proper dedicated home theater with proper lighting control. That's the whole point of a projector, to watch IN the dark. If you watch content in a bright room & want crazy brightness levels, get a Sony X95K or Samsung QN95B.
