  • Got a new train, couldn't get it to work without derailing. Added fences, tress and built a stairway with cobblestones.

    It looks great, even without a running train. You are so creative and such an inspiration! Keep going. I know it will be wonderful.

    You did an excellent job on the stairs. Too bad you couldn’t get the new train to run. Better to park it to be safe. Blessings and Happiness, Teresa

    Amazing work, you have real skills! Don't be too disheartened about the train, I'm sure it will still look lovely.

      Thank you. Although the train is so important, I'm sure it will be a relief not to worry every time it runs. Better next year! If I build next year, that is...😀

    Theas, your Christmas Village is so beautiful as always, with or without a working train. Your creativity is amazing and so inspiring. I’ve used so many cool techniques from you, in my own village. Thanks again for sharing. God Bless and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    Your talk about the trai reminds of a time when I made a scene where a train was coming out of a tunnel but I made it look like the tunnel caved in and part of the train trapped and rock surrounding the opening. Trains are difficult to keep going and not de-railing. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Maybe one day I will be able t get some Hotwire tools to aid in my village construction.

      My biggest issue with trains in tunnels are the cords for the lighting that need to go to the power bars in the very back. They need to go under the track bed. And that means sorting out the cords even before the tunnel is closed up and levels built. Makes it awkward to get a smooth track. As soon as the track isn't completely smooth, the train has trouble. I could go electric train but somehow the expense doesn't make much sense anymore. I probably only have a few years of village building left. 🤭

    hello, love all your tutorials, they have inspired me to do more. I was wondering if you had one on making a tunnel for the train. Ive looked but don't see one from you, I must have missed it . Thank you again for the great instructions and all the time you spend to explain how to do....

      Thank you!! I'm glad you can benefit from my videos.
      To build the tunnel I simply glue several slabs of Styrofoam together, place them on the base where I would like the tunnel to be, put the track on top of the slabs, trace out where the track would go, and use the hot Styrofoam carving knife to carve out the walls of the tunnel. I typically do not glue the level down to the base, only because the cords for the lights of the houses that are standing in front of the cliff need to go underneath that level. Then I lay another thinner slab of Styrofoam on top for the roof of the tunnel. I do not glue the roof down because it needs to be accessible in case of disaster in the back of the tunnel. Then I place several narrower slabs of Styrofoam (glued together) on top of that, to produce the second level. At this point, if you wanted varying levels for the buildings, you would add them now. Here are the links to two videos that show how it's done:

    Thea…you should look into getting an O scale electric train or trolley. No batteries and they seldom derail.

    • @TheasChristmasVillages
      @TheasChristmasVillages  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you are definitely right about that! The problem is I'm already 73 years old and not at all sure if I will be doing this much longer. Besides O scale are definitely four or five times the cost. Wish I had invested in one ten years ago. 👍🏻

    I found a tunnel opening!!
    Took a screen shot and it should work well.
    I hope you can get a train to work. I wiped wd40 over the tracks and wheels this year. Seem to run more smoothly….

      I gave up on the 🚂. Parked it in front on the station. Set up the 🚎 instead! We do what we have to, right? 😏

    Wow those stairs turned out amazing, everything is turning out amazingly. Is that the same brand train?

    • @TheasChristmasVillages
      @TheasChristmasVillages  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure is! Because I enclosed the tunnel and I'm too afraid it will get stuck in the back, I'm just displaying it, not running it. Good reason to plan for village building next year, right? 😉

      @@TheasChristmasVillages Yeah, I can’t figure why it’s not working then, I was thinking if by some reason it
      was different than the other train, then that might be the track issue.

    • @TheasChristmasVillages
      @TheasChristmasVillages  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The track is likely not connected properly somewhere and that's where the train can't get past. And because everything was all set up, I couldn't get at the spot to check.

      I see, but it will still look good modeled below the village for the complete look.❤️

    good morning Thea,the new train doesn't work? what's wrong?😦

    • @TheasChristmasVillages
      @TheasChristmasVillages  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It keeps jumping off the tracks in the tunnel. There's something wrong with the way the track is put together but I can't take a good look at it and fix what is wrong with it because I have put all the buildings on the higher level and can no longer lift the lid to see what's going on. Don't think it's the train, but the track.

    • @frankyvandenbroecke7678
      @frankyvandenbroecke7678 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thea i think is the track ,some track is open ,thats the reason. thea, if you make two holes in front,so that you can see whats happen if the train jumps . the holes can fixed whit one house in front. sory for my pour englisch @@TheasChristmasVillages

    • @TheasChristmasVillages
      @TheasChristmasVillages  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@frankyvandenbroecke7678 your English is just fine! I did design the higher levels so that I could get at the track, but now that all the buildings are up I can't lift the lid anymore. A few years ago I could have but I've lost a lot of strength this year and can't do what I used to. As well, my normal way of building was all messed up this year because of all the issues I had with the mountains and night sky. If I build again, I will definitely be putting the access holes in the front. It's good to share the problems so those who watch realize that we all have issues sometimes!

    Throw away stairs??? Why may I ask?

    • @TheasChristmasVillages
      @TheasChristmasVillages  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because something that works one year doesn't work for another. And styrofoam stairs do not store well , they look quite ratty the next year. I have saved them before, as well as platforms to raise buildings, and I never end up using them again. I prefer to make fresh every year. Tailor made for each new layout.
