    You may want to make any move with Emma sooner rather than later because the transition will be easier now since you just moved. Also, the longer time between the move and the arrival of the twins the better so Emma doesn’t feel the move is because of the twins.

      I agree we did it with our boys. It was easier to for them to move to their room before the baby arrived and moving to our new home while pregnant it was easier for us to do it before the baby came.

      Completely agree. We moved when I was six months pregnant and we knew we would be moving my son’s furniture into the baby’s room so we did it immediately when we moved and bought my oldest all new furniture. It worked out perfectly because he associated his new big boy furniture and room with moving and not with his baby brother taking his stuff.

    First thing from a twin momma!
    1. Get yourself a good belly support belt, will save your life!
    2. I had my mono-di twins at 32.6 weeks and they spent 3 weeks in the nicu. I was scared, but the nicu helped so much. They put them on a feeding schedule and sleep schedule. Helped me with breastfeeding both of them.
    3. Take one moment at a time, the more you think of the future you get flustered and get anxiety.
    It’s not as stressful as some people make it seem. I had 3 under the age of 3 and I have chronic illnesses. I survived :)

      Katy Switzer my mother did the same. 3 under 3 (for a little while before I turned 3) and we turned out ok. At least I think we did. Point being, she’s fine and wouldn’t give us up now. Maybe when we (all girls) were in our early teens going into puberty at the same time, HELL on Earth for my father, but I think we’re all good now. Lol. All in our 40’s.

      My mom had my twin sisters at 32 weeks as well! They spent 6 weeks in NICU. They are great 16 yr olds now=)

    A couple things!
    1. Generally the end of the year is the best time to get a new car, you have all of the holiday deals + everyone trying to meet their yearly quotas. An alternative to a minivan is something like a Buick Enclave. SUV body with mini van like seating. My mom had two back to back and loved them.
    2. I am a di/di twin (I have a sister) and we were born full term at 38 weeks each weighing 5 pounds and some change. The average twin pregnancy is about 35 weeks. 34 weeks is when the suck/swallow/breathe develops so typically from week 35-37 any NICU time would likely be minimal (I’m a L&D RN)
    3. A little bit about room sharing from a twin who shared: it was fine when we were younger, probably up until we started middle school. Around that time we started to develop a strong desire to be independent people and wanted our own space/our own things. We fought a lot and were fairly territorial of our own things during middle school because we shared friends/clothes/our room. If you have the ability/room in your house I would definitely advocate for giving them their own space as they get to that age.

    • @susancaroline927
      @susancaroline927 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Allison Hermes it just hit me how important to twins not sharing a room after some point might be. I always had to share a room. It was never a big deal. Twins kinda are forced to share pretty much everything. That is absolutely something I’d never considered until now. That’s great perspective to share with others. Learn something new every day.

    A note on the car.. I was so firmly against driving a minivan. I just did not want to drive one. My car was in rough shape and my parents offered to sell me their van which was years newer and much fewer miles for a really low price and it'd be stupid of me to pass up. And now I think everyone needs a minivan! 😂 There is SO much space, the way the seats are it's much easier to strap in carseats and get everyone buckled, ALL the cupholders!
    Long story short: forget the stigma, minivans are great! 🚙😂

      I dont know about there but in Australia we have what's called consumer guarantee, so if your product fails outside the warranty you may still be able to get it replaced or repaired based on a reasonable time you'd expect the product to last and based on the value of the item.
      I had a tv which was 6mths out of warranty, as it was over $1k they repaired it under warranty as one would assume such an expensive item would work for X amount of years, not just the warranty period

    Since y’all are having twins and a huge cost towards babies is diapers, I think y’all should look into cloth diapers. Now I know it may seem “gross,” but they’re cost efficient (upfront cost is kinda expensive, but in the long run it’s way less than having to shelf out money towards disposable diapers), it’s eco-friendly (less diapers in landfills), and there’s less chemicals against the babies butt and skin. PLUS since y’all plan to grow your family more, these diapers can grow with your babies and last long enough to be used for your next. It’s definitely an investment I’d recommend looking into, they even have good ones on Amazon like 5 for $30 which is a really good price. Also the designs are super cute, which is a plus. A few vids/youtubers I recommend to learn more are Simply Klaire (she has one vid, but it’s what attracted me to cloth diapers in the first place), madebymcchicken (vid on amazon diapers), McHusbands (vid on *Twin cloth diapering), Whitney’s World.c.k (has a whole bunch of informative cloth diapering vids), & Channon Rose (she stopped cloth diapering but plans on starting again)
    Edit: fixing typos :)

      While you do have a great point about the land fill...what about all the water and electricity that having cloth diapers uses? Since they must be washed 2 to 3 times and rinsed twice?

    • @roxanneguerin6520
      @roxanneguerin6520 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@cherylrobinson517Water that is used to wash clothes is still water afterwards - it's just 'dirty' water that goes in the sewer or septic to be purified and returned to nature. The plastic in disposables takes hundreds of years to break down, and even then they break down into micro-plastics that pollute our waterways and end up in our foods! With regards to washing I'm not sure what you mean about doing multiple washes and rinses - with a quality washing machine you don't need to wash or rinse multiple times. Simply soak, wash, rinse and hang outside in the sun to dry. Despite the washing they are considerably better than disposables for the environment and cost.

    • @melissaalexander6736
      @melissaalexander6736 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My electric bill and water bill wasn’t that much higher, when I cloth diapered. I saved A TON of money not buying disposable diapers. It was so nice to not have to worry about “not having diapers”. I just did a load of laundry and done! So easy!

      Yes Yes Yes ! Towards the end of your pregnancy introduce her to two doll babies that are toddler friendly. Play "baby house" . She will better understand the twins when she can wrap her babies in a blanket and feed them with a bottle or she will imitate you and try to to nurse them. Saw it happen. Lol. Great Q&A.... I have to tell you. After baby 4 we had to go suv 🚙... I REFUSED to get a mommy mobile (aka mini van) so I bought a suburban... LOVED MY SUBURBAN.... But then I had to install car seats a lot (I run a daycare) and getting seats in that 3rd row was a PAIN. Only because I have to move seats around a lot due to my daycare. If seats could stay in the position for a lengthy time... it wouldn’t have been a issue but after being bruised a million times ... I BROKE DOWN... yes I bought a mini van with the doors that both opened (a dream) with the key fab. I bought a Chrysler Town and county. I cried when I traded my suburban in all the way home too. But to my surprise... LOVED my van! I tried to sport it up a bit but well, it was a van so I just had to realize that and will never ever trade my van in because I LOVE IT. So easy to get kids in and out for that on the go family. Maybe something to look into. I got the Chrysler Town and Country Touring version. Mine is a 2014 I believe. Love it but had to tell the story

    From experience-we have a 4 year old and 1 year old twins-all girls-before the twins we had to get that bigger car and decided on a Honda Pilot 2015 when it had a bigger body-but 1000% we want a van now-any SUV you use your floor space then BAM. A tip I learned from my cousin that has multiples. She took the car seats and sat them in the car she was trying out to make sure they would fit width wise. So all three car seats side by side would fit and the doors would close. That may not be an issue depending on what type of car you’re looking at but just wanted to pass that along ❤️. So happy for y’all and I can’t wait to watch your family grow.🥰

    Mini vans are AWESOME! Seriously, myself (and all of my mom friends) all had that attitude of "But we're younggggg, we aren't mini van people, blah blah blah..." but when it came down to it, mini vans are so much more economical than SUV's, less expensive to insure, plus they use a lot less gas and are more environmentally friendly. And every single one of us absolutely LOVE our mini vans and are so glad we have them. My kids are older now but I'm a nanny and still need the space, so it's been a great and very responsible decision. You won't regret it if you do get one.
    Additionally, there's so much more storage space in a mini-van. Even the big SUV's couldn't compare if we needed to have the back seats in use. Not one regret in purchasing a mini van.

    I had twins a month after you guys had Emma. We also have an older child. We bought the Honda Odyssey and have loved it. If you guys are “car modest” it is a really good choice! It is much easier for the kids to get in and out of as well as much more fuel efficient than an SUV. The sliding doors are AMAZING!

    My husband and I were both born with red hair and 3 of our 6 were born with red hair 😊 Red hair is actually a genetic mutation so it is not as easily predicted as other traits.
    Our #3 and #4 are our twins. They are fraternal twin boys. Something that I reccomend to expecting twin moms is to save up so you CAN get 2 of everything, but just start with one of each. I had one twin that loved the swing and hated the bouncer and the other loved the bouncer and hated the swing. We also only used 1 crib (which I know is not highly recommend and I am probably going to get nasty comments for, but they were 8 months old before we moved them out of our room into their cribs) we had 2 cribs, but they did NOT sleep well apart & when they started climbing they would climb into each other's cribs , so in the end it was easier and safer to just let them sleep together. They are almost 5 now and STILL prefer to sleep together. So the only 2 things (besides carseats) that I reccomend getting 2 of to start with is high chairs, and bassinets/sleepers.
    I am seriously so happy for you and your growing family! Praying for safety and blessings throughout your pregnancy and beyond!!!

    We tried so hard to find a car big enough for our older toddler and infant twins and it was SO HARD. My husband finally bit the bullet and agreed to the Honda Odyssey and it’s been the best decision ever. LOVE the sliding seats and ALL. THE. ROOM. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I’ll never regret it!

    CONGRATS YOU GUYS! WE had our transfer on 5/10 and we are in our two week wait now. Our almost 1yo daughter, was also conceived thanks to IVF since both my husband and I have chromosomal abnormalities that can lead to big complications. Both in my home country and where we live doctors dont transfer 2 at one time, unless you are 37yo, to avoid the complications that twins bring. I think when it comes to twins what would give me a lot of respect is the delivery time and NICU time。

    Our twin granddaughters shared a placenta, but had a thin membrane separating. They stole my heart forever before I even held them. The only thing that kept them still while my daughter waited for an urgent c-section.... was my singing.... but specifically I Am Jesus Little Lamb. They were 5 weeks early, but born very healthy. I passed on a trip to Europe with my husband and son.... I had a feeling. I’m so glad I stayed behind and had that special bonding experience. It really helped to know ahead that the “double blessings” were girls. They had a brother that was still a toddler and it gave my daughter and s-i-l that extra time to plan. They still have a shared room and hope in the future to marry identical twins. 😂 Yes.... a twins are a true “double blessing”! Strap in and enjoy the ride of blessings to come!!!

    I would vote for a mini van!! I had 3 little ones and it’s much easier when you can put them in the van and close the door, then put them in their car seats. Especially when it’s raining or when they’re toddlers, it’s like herding cats when they are in a parking lot.

    I vote minivan from personal experience. We just "downsized" from a Sequoia to a Sienna and I'm in love. Besides maybe three full size SUVs a minivan actually has more cargo space. I was so against it but after searching for several months the functionality cant be denied. My first two are 13 months apart and we are TTC number 3 and the van has been so awesome already! Loading is a breeze and so much more simple than the tall SUV. Good luck on the search!

    Just one thing that you may have heard in the comments quite a bit.
    Twins are ALWAYS sharing and aren’t “forced” to, but also are if that makes sense. So as soon as they start showing signs of wanting to be an independent person and not known as “the twins” let them have their own things,
    Let them pick out some new outfits of their own, a new school bag etc etc. don’t try and match them if they don’t want to
    It’ll drive them apart from each other because they’ll want to be SOO different from the other (especially if 2 twin girls) where they’ll be close if they chose to be close and not “forced” to be 😊

    Even if you have a boy and girl, it’s totally okay for them to share a room! I’m a twin (I have a brother) and we shared a room until we were about 4 years old. We had so much fun sharing! My moms favorite story is that they were all set to give my brother his own room, moved al his stuff he was all excited and then he looked at my mom and goes “well where’s Amanda going to sleep?!” We shared a room for another 18 months 😂

    I never wanted to drive a minivan but had 3 boys and have had 3 vans. I highly recommend a minivan with multiple children. The sliding doors are also great when dealing with car seats and as the kids grow and open doors on their own. We looked at many SUV’s before buying our third minivan and none compared to the convenience of the vans.

    So excited for you guys!💕 I have a gut feeling it’s a boy and girl. I had a dream of okbaby’s last babies name and I wrote it down in my notes and shared it on Twitter to Kyra. I couldn’t believe it. It was in my notes on my iPhone with the date and time stamp from at least 3-4 months prior to when they announced her name. It was unreal! My family and friends have always called me a little witch because I have dreams that come true. Scary and good dreams. I guess from what mom told me, my great grandmother had the same “gift” if I have dreams of your babies being a boy and a girl and what their names are I’ll definitely share it with you! Get a van you will need lots of space for equipment, super easy to park, you can get the ones that store the extra seats you don't need and have more room for baby stuff, decent on gas and come with lots of bells and whistles. We got a new one and kept it 11 years till the children got older. Good luck with your decision.

    I know everyone is different & likes what they like, but I highly recommend checking out the dodge journeys! Our family just bought a 2010 srt edition that’s fully loaded and I am in love! There is so much room and storage in it which is very helpful! We have a 2 years old and a almost a 3 month old and with both car seats in the middle there is still so much room! We also have a 3rd row (which we keep down until we need them put up) & it’s super easy to access the back row from the middle row. One of the best features we love is there is a extra mirror that helps you see the kids better & there is also a built in water bottle cooler in the front which is very helpful for having cool drinks for our older son. Btw I love watching y’all vlogs! The good lord has definitely blessed you guys in more ways than one! So happy for y’all! (Sorry for the long post 🤣) #hifromgeorgia

I never did the blood work; they look exactly alike. I personally advise to put the babies on the same schedule. It was so much easier. Also, I was 38 weeks when I delivered. I was induced. I said I would never buy a minivan, but SUV’s are sooo expensive. When we went to look at bigger cars we looked at the Honda Odyssey and I instantly went “yep, we are getting a minivan.” The sliding doors has been amazing, especially when someone parks too close you don’t have to worry about struggling to fit the infant car seat in or getting in to buckle the kids. We bought the 2014. It has a cool box so you can put water bottles or snacks in it and they stay cool, heated seats, sunroof, Bluetooth, push button start, and tons more features. I highly recommend it. I’ll probably go to an SUV in about 10 years when I feel my children won’t bash another car when opening the doors lol

    Honda Odyssey is my dream car. It has the best options for car seat placement of any suv/van and I love the perks of a van. Sliding doors are so much easier with kids. Unfortunately we have an suv and it has zero room compared to my inlaws odyssey. Whatever you choose make sure you check into the carseat lady to check for top tether placement because you can't necessarily put a forward facing car seat safely in any seat. My suv is severely limited on where a forward facing seat will go

    I always thought that it would be terrible to drive a minivan. I thought it was for older people. But, after I started driving one, I really liked it. They are comfortable, most of them drive smoothly, and they make it so much easier to travel with children in car seats. You can have five car seats in the van and still have plenty of room for groceries. For me, it was a lot easier to get them in and out of their car seat in a van. Cars and suvs are just not made to fit car seats.

    1. Stay active walk as much as you can even if it hurts a little it helps so much!
    2. When you’re really far along sleeping on the couch was more comfortable for me because i couldn’t move around as much!

    My friend got 2 of literally everything and soon realised she only needed one ie change table, baby bath, some play things as they can rotate between activities and generally you wont be changing or bathing two at a time etc.
    As to the owlet, I'd recommend contacting them as it shouldnt break so easily. For the twins I'd recommend looking into the Nebo. It's new to the market but I'm hearing some really positive feedback about it
