      Absolutely! Your comment sumZ up my feelings regarding Duran Duran perfectly!!! They were looked at like a bunch of pretty boyZ and fashion statements, however, they can, aZ I've discovered in the last three months, really, really PLAY!!! Roger Taylor iZ one of the worldZ great drummers, Nick Rhodes' keyboard playing iZ freakin pioneering. John Taylor iZ one incredible bassist, aZ well. Simon LeBon haZ one of the best voices ever, in my opinion. They're an incredible band. I am completely addicted to listening to them. @@Cviteriz if you watch the Power Station documentary you will see Bernard Edwards coaching him. He could never have played at that level without the Chic man.
      Not also just had it confirmed he didn't play on the PS first album. It was session musician Tony Levin that played on that album.
      He dropped out of the second album in a state apparently unable to play and Bernard Edwards played and wasn't part of that project.

    Roger Taylor aged beautifully! He was not that noticeable during their heydays but now he is the most handsome of the 4 members minus the lead guitarist, Andy Taylor. John Taylor was the coolest with the way he carried himself--so suave. Simon Le Bon's voice is still as fresh as the day they became very famous.

    • @tylerskiss
      @tylerskiss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nick has only just started showing the slightest hints of aging. When I was a teen I thought he was the prettiest man I ever saw and I'm sure that caused more than a little confusion with the old sexuality. Almost as confusing as when you were told that all the members of the band Poison were actually MEN!!

    • @Cubby113able

      Finally... someone else who specifically refers to Rog!!! In my humble opinion, he iZ one of the worldZ greatest drummerZ...ever! I feel like he iZ slightly underrated in the drum 🥁 world. But when it comeZ to this genre of music, no one else haZ the technique, style, finesse, and solidity that Rog displays 👍😆😆🥁🥁🥁

      김미화 I think that's because Simon took better care of himself and did way less drugs than most of the band (excluding Roger who didn't do drugs), but esp less than JT.

    For years i didn't listen to this band, but i have to recognize that they came in a particular period during the thacherisme and after the punk crysis mixing differents genres from punk, to electronic being inspired by kraftwerk, from the funky-disco of chic and so, for me, they are an elegant and clever group which brought colours in the '80, and still today, and for a new wave/ pop band it's not easy, they give freshness and heart to the music...

      I feel the same as you! I was about 12 when I was a hard core fan, and a friend who was a rocker made fun of me for being a Duran Duran fan and I changed up to being a metal/rock fan. Was I so silly or what? I am now 48 and once again a hard core Duran Duran fan! They never stopped releasing albums, so screw my friend who made fun of me, lol Best music ever!

    At some point they were so popular and the girls went crazy about this band...people wanted to put them in the boyband section. But they were so much more, they are a band...writing and playing their songs. They were my 'guilty pleasure' when I was into hard rock. After that period I listened to all kind of genres and DD is still one of my favs.

    I bet it's been 25 years or more since I've listened to Late Bar. And yet, every single lyric instantly came roaring back out of my head. One of their many deep album cuts that, in many ways, were just as good as the bigger singles.

    I love the bit about Steve setting little traps for Roger to play! I actually grew up learning to play by listening to Roger's drumming, and then Notorious came out and I was like WTF? How do i play this? The little turnaround fill on American Science still haunts me to this day...
