Time heals although I still have defending conversations in my mind with all of them who labelled, bullied humiliated and hurted me with words. When I was 20 and still timid I had to work during my study and two older guys would tease and bully me. When I told my aunt about it she said with a smirk and sarcasm: maybe you lack humor. My grandmother was also present and said nothing. I'm now 47 and it still hurts and after I stopped going to bd parties years later, my father yelled at me that I am ignoring the family to death. I am the bad person, the selfish indifferent one. Nope. I just walked away from being belittled and attacked for no reason because I always showed up with a positive attitude and never got angry but often left drained and insulted. Was it jealousy at my younger, free life idk. When I spoke up and drew a line I am being blamed. Funny how I do selfreflect and said sorry in vain but none of them would ever look in the mirror but all decent people for the eye. I try to learn to let go and not be affected by how dominant people perceive me. I'm not perfect but I don't insult people and I deserve respect in return.
Yup. And besides of "it's just a joke", she also used "it's just my opinion! I'm allowed to have an opinion!" Since I have a conscious mind she's been doing that. Far too long and I have to work on myself to protect my soul further on.
I have experienced all of them. I didn't have the self respect to do what I needed to do. I fell into the reactive abuse trap. For 20 years. Couples therapy said just don't react. You have to just take it. You did things wrong to deserve it. You can't do anything about it. All true for my healing path. Not fun to hear considering how deep the hole was that I was in. I eventually woke up. And have been divorced since the beginning of the year. The therapist did eventually catch on to what was going on. My therapist and our couples therapist worked in the same office. They had compared notes. It was a blessing for me. Thanks for letting me share. God bless.

Almost 50 years with Covert/Narcissist. I endured exactly what you say and much much more. At the moment my family and I are about to isolate from each other. My ex Narc is covertly deceit fully, subtly, playing my adult children and they don't see it. I see it clearly. They are always defending him and say It's all in my head. It is not in my head. I have been healing well but everytime I am in the ex narc's company ( due to family celebrations) there is an atmosphere and I have blocked him. He stirs the pot for me to react. I reacted last night at a celebration with my adult children. I said something about their Dad and I was bombarded in the same way their Dad treated me. I stood up for myself and held my own that made them verbally attack me. I was abused on 5 counts within all these years of marriage. My Therapists don't know how I made it through. I am proud of this but now I am now coping with Mother Alienation from them. It is because their Father rarely speaks, complies and tells them what they want to hear lets their children do what they like in his company and he gives them gifts which he never did when we were together. I supplied gifts on birthdays Christmas and other occasions he never contributed. I told my children I felt they blamed me for the break up by asking him to leave. I could take no more. He was still cheating lying etc etc etc I was ill and I had an awakening. I am 6yrs. Single. I don't like their attitude and disrespect. What can I do?
When he does it , it's cool but when I do it back to him he gets offended. And I say oh I thought we was having friendly joking rounds. He then give me the silent treatment and I take it as a vacation. It took me years to get to this point , but I'm here
My X-husband (to me is a narc) would do that all the time; he would put me down and say that he was only joking! He also came between me and my best friend - it ended our friendship. She took his side over mine. I tried to reach out to her many times but she no longer wanted our friendship. I think she had narcissistic traits also. After that time, she gives me a pure look of superiority. That was painful.

They will be able to help you with finding an apartment for you and your children, legal help, counseling, and help with employment (if you need it). Save yourself and your children from him. Your children should not have to watch you be abused like this. It is damaging to their souls whether they tell you or not. Sending you prayers, strength, encouragement, and love.
