    That's a very good idea. If it's QR code, people have to wait to open camera & scan it. With this they can just put phone near it.
    By the way, can you tell me what type of paper(gsm) you used? The print looks better.

      Gokul,
      Glad you enjoyed the video! This is actually just standard printer paper, about 100 gsm, but the color printing did turn out well! Thanks for the comment!

    Thanks for this insightful tutorial. Which do you recommend for a simple occasion like a party. Should i simply print a single QRcode or an NFC tag

    • @atlasrfidstore
      @atlasrfidstore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oshodi - sorry for the late reply!
      I think it would totally depend on how you are inviting people to the party. Obviously, if it was a digital invitation, NFC tags couldn't be used. You would simply copy and paste the address into your preferred maps tool on your phone.
      If you sent out individual invitations to each person, an NFC tag or a QR code could both be used. They would both provide the same end result; however, the NFC tag would provide that extra "wow" factor in a couple of ways.
      1. The first would be the ease-of-use aspect from that easy, tap and click, all-digital experience that NFC tags provide. Now compare that to each user having to open their phone's camera app and moving the phone back and forth a few times to get the exact distance to accurately read the QR code.
      2. The second would be the time-saving aspect that an NFC tag can provide by reading the tag and automatically opening a user's preferred maps application.
      Note: The potential downsides would be price and possible user confusion. I would suggest that the tag would need to clearly state the directions, or directions should be printed on the invitation, "Tap with your smartphone for the party address" (or something similar).
      If you printed flyers and hung them up around town or school, an NFC tag or a QR code could be be used. They would both provide the same end results; however, (in my opinion) QR codes do not provide a consistently good user experience when used outside or bright lighting, especially when laminated. The glare from the sun can prove to be a significant hurdle when trying to capture a QR code outside with a smartphone. In this case, I would suggest using an NFC tag on each flyer that has clear directions for use, like suggested above.
      Does this answer your question?
      Thanks!

    How can NFC be protected from being rewritten?

  • @andrejpetrovic6106
    @andrejpetrovic6106 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want to thank you so much!
    Your videos really help me to understand the basics of RFID and NFC. If I may ask you. I am solving a problem with my product and I can't decide what can be the best solution for me. I use reusable boxes and I want to attach to each one of them RFID or NFC tag and functions what I need are: the ability to read them with mobile, rewrite them (not necessary with mobile), it has to be passive tag, it's not gonna be an URL link but form of billing address (text) that has to be rewritable (in future). I am still not sure which Tag should be the best option for me. Thank you for your response.

      @atlasrfidstore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrej - that is so nice, thank you so much for watching and learning and for the shout out!!
      For your tag - what kind of read range would you like to be receiving? If you go with a longer read range, say 10+ feet, you will need to go with Passive UHF tags which will be a little more costly because you cant read Passive UHF RFID Tags natively with your smart phone/mobile. You would have to get a sled reader to attach to your phone - like this one:
      www.atlasrfidstore.com/tsl-1128-bluetooth-uhf-rfid-reader/
      As for using NFC, you would receive a much smaller read range, but i think an address would work going on these tags. Ill see if i cant get a small demo video going and put today just to show you how you could go about that!
      Rewritable is no issue on either one! Ill respond back when i have that super quick demo to show you how that address can be placed on that NFC tag.
      Thanks!

    Is there any way to edit the push notification that says “website nfc tag” to maybe a logo or something ?

    • @atlasrfidstore
      @atlasrfidstore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be awesome to do, but i think it would be a development capability that would be controlled by apple. Here is one page they have on the general NFC capabilities, and here's another link of where it might help to get started. I think what you would need to look for would be how to change the NFC push notification for background tag reading.

    Why wouldn't you just use a QR code for that?

    • @atlasrfidstore
      @atlasrfidstore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Justin,
      There are a few things that RFID tags have a leg up on over QR codes -
      1. No need to open your phone's camera, and try to move back and forth to get the correct focus - which can take awhile depending on the size of the QR code.
      2. If QR codes are in bright light (like outside sunny day) or on a reflective material (if they are laminated) sometimes it can be pretty hard to get your camera to focus in order to scan the code. I know this isn't a problem all the time, but it definitely can be a little time-consuming when it is.
      3. NFC tags can be rewritten, which is very convenient. Say you have an NFC tag and a QR code at every table in a restaurant, and you update the menu. You can easily just tap that NFC tag with your phone and change the URL in a few seconds. Unfortunately, you cant change a QR code once it is printed.
      4. NFC tags do have some cool functionalities besides simply opening a URL - checkout our other video in this link: th-cam.com/video/WlcPb_09-oI/w-d-xo.html
      Overall, I think it really depends on the application whether to use a QR code or an NFC tag, each one has pros and cons. I hope this answers your question!

      @@atlasrfidstore thank you for taking the time to reply. I can see the benefits of NFC tech, I have this idea that people are probably more familiar with a camera than with NFC but either way you have to have an app to be able to interact with either.
