I am so excited. I am nearly 55 years old and have wanted to play the flute since I was a child. Watching your videos and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my flute.

LOL I play bamboo flutes , first time I tried to blow it , it was awful , spent all week on it lol If you never blew a flute , don’t give up , keep doing it over and over your body will learn how to blow. I would like to get a regular flute , so many buttons lol , only six holes on a bamboo flute lol Winks Lisa
When my teacher taught me, a few years ago before I stopped taking lessons, he told me to place my tongue against the inside of my upper jaw, where the teeth meet the gum. Yet, in one of your previous videos you said that we should place our tongue between our lip. Is there any difference in the outcome? Because I can't find any. thank you for the videos :)
Putting your tongue between your lips gives you a crisper, clearer sound right from the beginning of playing the note. The way your other teacher taught you is another way to tongue, but is not as effective-especially for beginners. Please visit my website to learn more :) learnfluteonline.com
Kemba, I'm so happy that you have decided to come back to learning how to play the flute. It's a beautiful and fun instrument. Learning how to get the right air stream into the flute is among the most difficult when you are first learning to play the flute. I would suggest focusing on your aperture (the whole where your air comes out when you blow). It should be a small and thin hole, then concentrate all your air through that small hole. Good luck, and I hope this helps :) ~Rebecca
+mula raikar Hi Mula, perhaps you are a new player and the hole in your lips is still too big to get a clear tone... practice keeping the lips close as you use the tongue in the manner I show you in the video here. You can do it, I know you can. :) Rebecca
+anthony zelina Your welcome! I love teaching students like you who are so excited to learn. I can tell you just soak up all the good tips and information really well. Keep up the good work! :) Rebecca
I'm so glad you are looking to get one of these because they will help you develop proper tone on your flute. Here is a link from amazon: amzn.to/2gVYrkf Good luck! ~Rebecca
Hi Makenzy, I can see that you're frustrated learning how to blow in to the flute properly. It can definitely take some time to get used to how to do it the right way. Hang in there and keep trying! I suggest watching my videos more than once, because maybe you'll pick up on something different than when you saw it the first time. Best wishes ! Keep me posted with how you're doing. ~Rebecca
