Central ITV - Continuity - Closedown - 7-8-86

- From the early hours of Thursday August 7 1986, Central close down with their wonderful sleepy village film, with all the lights in the dwellings slowly switching off.
Then the text fest that is Jobfinder with a good attempt at making a round logo out of low-res squares. Interesting (for me, anyway) to note that the ILR logo slide is national.
And hello to Mr May in the comments down there! - บันเทิง
Used to love watching this when I was younger, thinking the last light that was on in the village was your own light, cos everyone else had gone to bed! 😆
Just for the record - that isn't Gary, it's Ted May. Central Announcer 1985-2002. I know the guy personally :)
I wonder if anybody knows when Central stopped using the ‘sleepy village’ closedown screen...it was great
Sorry I overslept for sign-on... I was up all night watching Jobfinder!
Gary Terzza announcing in his Central days. He is now one of channel 4's long term announcers since joining in 1991
sorry but that wasn't Gary Terzza, sounds like Ted May to me.
Some ILR stations on the slide (which indeed looks quite old for 1986) were gone by then - Gwent Broadcasting ("GB") and CBC had merged to become Red Dragon, ditto Radio West and Wiltshire Radio to become GWR (and from there ...) By the end of Central closedowns the following year, they were also plugging GWR which overlapped with their region in Swindon.
Marvellous stuff, of course. I've always loved that closedown sequence - though a far cry from the Bull Ring ...
"Me And My Girl" (LWT) and "Minder" (Thames) on the same night?
Music starts at 2:57
No, just came on when a programme was not from any ITV company - ie films. Each region did similar things
Anyone else used to switch on teletext at the same page, off and on again just to see if it was the same? 😂
Yep. All the time.
Good to know that the weather was also shit 33 years ago.
Summer era
jobfinder would have been a great service to have in nz right after the goodnight kiwi
thanks
The grand question is : what's that mind-melting bossanova BGM tune =D ?
For all I know, it's a self composed tune
It's composed by Central theme.

He's just given out a spoiler for V. No need to watch it now.
They're subscribing to the Tebbit philosophy, putting up jobs in Surrey and Heathrow.
