What a treat to spend time with your grandchild. He is a good listener. So glad to see a child that is not on their cellphone or computer, but doing something with their hands. Keep it up young man.
Enjoyed the video. My 7 year old granddaughter and I sewed her a book bag last week. She picked out fabric from my stash, which I cut. She wanted to sew it herself so I had to put the foot pedal on a footstool so she could reach it. I did turn down the speed of the machine and was sitting right beside her while she sewed. She did a good job and loves her bag! Thanks for sharing the love of sewing with children!
super Cute! it will be great to see how much he grows the next ten Years!!! if you keep the pillowslip as an annual ritual project for all us fans! great work Talan - (sp?) clever pillow slip pattern as well! :)
THANK YOU TALON, and Jenny. I have a 10 yr old Grand daughter, I been working with on some sewing projects. Though she has never used the machine YET!.. With Your help Talon, I will show her your video, and help her make a pillow case to go with her Quilt I just made her. And with your help, I know she will do a great Job, Just as you done. Thank You Both for another Great Video Project.
Please, please, pretty please do more children's projects with your adorable grandchildren. I always look for projects to do that teach my grandchildren. It's a magical bond we share that they will always remember, not to mention the fact that they are learning. Thank you!!
Grandma you are doing a great job with that cutie grandson! I am a granny but when my granddaughters were young we were not in the same state later on when we moved closer they are not interested, thank for this beautiful tutorial.
love that grandma is teaching my grandma taught me how to sew she would look at a dress in the store and go home and make her own pattern out of newspaper and would make that dress she saw in the store she always said you can make it better and prettier than the store I miss my grandmother so much so glad she taught me how to sew love your grandson he is so cute great age
So cute! Nothing better than making something with your grandchild! He will always remember this! I've made several for my grandchildren, the youngest now wants a Batman pillow! I make them travel-sized for toddlers. He and I are going to make it this weekend!
I am a foster mom to special needs kiddos with very severe needs. I am 65 yrs old. Needless to say Jenny is my therapist and quilting is my therapy!!!! Can I hear an Amen? I know this is true for a lot of us!
I just saw this tutorial and smiled so much. I have taught my five granddaughters how to sew. Even the youngest at 5 years old..we put the foot pedal on a stool so she could reach it. I drew lines on the fabric and they learned to "sew on the line". Each has made a quilt, after pillow cases, tote bags, skirts, shorts and other projects. I take them to the quilt store and the have started their stashes!! So much fun!!
Jenny.. you should do these more often to let all us Nana's out here watch and teach with our grandchildren... You have SEW much patience with teaching him.. he's adorable too. 😉 Great for anyone to learn including the kiddos 😊
My thoughts exactly. My little girl is almost 7, and wants to learn to sew and quilt with me. She says she's going to teach me how to make a banana quilt. This should be fun and interesting.
Jenny, this is one of your best videos! Your Grandson is so cute! Brought a tear to my eye as I'm going to be a first time Grandma in October and I hope I can teach him or her to sew too!
That was darling Jenny and Talon! My grandson made his first pillowcase with the same method! He’s a “pro” sewer now at age 9... I’m a very proud Nana. Great job Talon!
Talon, you need a wonderful job! One of these days you'll be quilting along with Gramma! I wish my Great Grand Kids lived closer. I am 70 years old and have never made a pillowcase but it is on my to do list in just a few weeks. Jenny, you are a GEM in so many ways.
I love that your Grandson got to build a Harry Potter pillowcase with you. That is just so special, and he will remember this event with you forever. My oldest Grandson is in University now and the things that he remembers doing with his Grandma are so surprising special that it brings tears to your eyes.
Talon, great job! My son's first sewing project was a pillowcase as well. He was about 9 or 10. He is 20 now and out of the house, but I still use that pillowcase! Cant wait to see next year's project.
Hi Jenny- thanks for the this lesson... I love watching you. Your Grandson is so sweet- its great that he is learning from you-- you are a wonderful teacher. P.G.
I love this! Just started sewing with my grandkids, ages 4-12, all have never seen before I have collected enough vintage sewing machines, there is almost enough for each grandkid They loved it so much, the three day project I had planned got done in one day! They didn't even want to play video ganes, they wanted to sew every day they were here This is a great project
I have tears in my eyes because my grandsons are 24 and 21 and this reminds me of them when they were Talon’s age. I have a paper that my grandson wrote in school about the fun things he did at Grandma’s House. Jenny thank you so much for all you do for all of us!
Your grandson is adorable. Love the pillow case. He did really good. He has a good teacher. This will be a good project for my daughter, she's almost 7. Good idea with the paper to learn on. I'm going to teach my daughter that way.
This is PERFECT! I’m starting a sewing club for my Afterschool enrichment class for 4-5h girls added and was trying to decide how to start- this is EXACTLY what I needed! Thanks so much for doing this ❤ and Bravo to your grandson!! 🎉
So patient Jenny. I love all your toutorials. The hard part is waiting for the patterns and fabric to arrive. I always need several projects for winter when we are house bound in our northern climate. Thank you Jenny
What beautiful memories you are making with your Grandchildren. I try to teach my granddaughter Fiona but she usually wants to sew 5 minutes before she has to go home!
I loved this tutorial! I became a Grand Mother last November & have had the pleasure of showing my daughter how to bathe her baby! Your grandson is perfect! Great job, Talon!
Great Job, Talon. Enjoyed watching you and your Grandmother working together. I enjoy doing things with my Granddaughter's too. Enjoy that pillow case. :)
How cute! It's awesome that he wants to sew with you😊He did great! I have an almost 8 year old son who loves to watch me sew. I think he's big enough now that I can start teaching him some things.
Great tutorial. Talon is terrific. My sister and I started sewing on buttons and hemming pillow cases with my great-grandmother who believed everyone should know how to sew. Watching this brought back some wonderful memories, thanks so much.
Warmed my heart to see the joy on his face! Not only because he accomplished making a pillowcase BUT that he was doing it with you! Beautiful memory for you both!❤❤❤
What an adorable tutorial! Talon picked a great fabric in something he’s interested in and did such a great job making the pillowcase with grandma’s instruction. What a wonderful gift to share with your grandson!
I’m new to Missouri Star Quilt Co., and your videos. This is so encouraging to do more sewing with my grandson. He’s started his own quilt, using strips and straight seams, and he’s doing a fantastic job, at 7 years old, sewing (semi) straight seams. Thank you for sharing your Grandma/Grandson time with us.
So sweet! I liked that Jenny said using the lines to sew on was a good indication that it would be time to start learning to sew. I have a granddaughter and was just wondering about that.
I love your tutorial on making the pillowcase. I just happen to have three of my grandkids here for the day & night. They wanted to learn to sew, and when we looked up projects on TH-cam, yours was the first one that came up. We watched the DVD that came with the Brother machine that I picked up at Goodwill this week. I pd. $8 & it was brand new. We watched your video & they were so excited to try to make one. The girls are 10 & 8 and theirs turned out perfect. My grandson, who is 6 didn't get a chance to try, as it was bedtime & I was exhausted from everything we crammed into our day. He's ok with waiting till next time--thank goodness. Thanks again for a great tutorial.
I love that-such sweet memories for you and Talon! Both my grandmas have passed on, but they taught me to sew, quilt, knit, and crochet, and I love the memories of working with them. 😃
We make these at our church as a charity sewing project for a children's hospital so the brighter fun fabrics are best. The only difference is we finish the inside edges with a French seam since these fabrics fray and they will be washed frequently. Good job, Talon! You have the greatest teacher so learn all you can!
He will always remember this experience with you. My grandson is 19 & he brings all of his mending to me & I enjoy fixing them for him. I've made pillow cases for my 3 grand kids & they really love them.
fantastic Jenny!!! children need you to teach them how it's done. I love that you had your Grandson work with you on this project. Great job Kido!!! I'm a grandma with a nine year old myself.

I love when kids learn to sew. I was teaching my grand daughter and her younger brother and sister wanted to learn too. So they made a pillow for mom after her surgery and birth of her baby. To use on her lap than they made little pillows for them selves too they’re so happy with them.
What a treat to spend time with your grandchild. He is a good listener. So glad to see a child that is not on their cellphone or computer, but doing something with their hands. Keep it up young man.
