Thank you for a good video. It's not all that easy to see how it all adds up to a considerable amount of money. My first rod cost me 8000 euros to build ( in northern Europe), thats probably around 10,000 Canadian. The body, frame, engine and transmission cost just 17% of the total. I didn't see that coming. On the other hand, the costs were spread over five years, so it was manageable. In any case, do build a rod! it's immensely rewarding and fun.

Nice job breaking it all down. But it is hard to put a price on having fun driving a hot rod.

My first hot rod I bought back in 1965. I paid $20.00 for a 1940 Chevy coupe with no engine or transmission. I put it together with my brother using junkyard parts.Chevy 265 angine, 3 speed stick transmission 55 chevy rear and wired it for 12 volts. It cost about $200 dollars back then. We needed a car to drive to tech school 12 miles away. Tech school was great, lots of good cheap parts were available from other students, one of them had a father who owned a junkyard, and got to be good friends with him..parts were cheap! Most important is the paperwork with proper VIN. Building your first hot rod is an experience indeed and helping hands are hard to find sometimes.
