    Loving this channel, not too heavy on the music, with the camera angles and the ambient noise I feel on the adventure 😊

    I keep saying it, you guys are the masters at capturing the essence of sailing. Your footage of exiting the pass was superb, the footage of actual sailing and sea conditions are just the best. I cant think of another channel that captures the size of the sea conditions like you guys do. You actually feel as if you are in the boat in the action. Superb, goed gedaan

    Good passage, neat video. I really enjoyed it.
    I don't know that this would work for your sail car, but here are some good tricks. If you could make saw cuts in the two faces of the cars, and then insert folded flat carbon fiber with epoxy. You could even form the sleeve around a piece of cardboard. Fiberglass and carbon fiber sleeves are really useful. (A few sizes easily stretch and squeeze to whatever size you need.) If you use it as a flat patch you do get a thick edge, but it's clean, no ragged edges - no sanding. Great molds for even curved carbon or fiberglass tubes are hot glue sticks. I double or triple wrap teflon plumbing tape then slide on the sleeve. (I've made U- tubes that make flush fittings for my wooden kayaks. That's 180 degree bends, no kinks, the mold material pops out and the inside is very smooth. Once the epoxy sets you can pull out the glue stick. Pulling on the hot glue stick stretches them which makes the diameter smaller -- they pop right out. There are two basic sizes of the glue sticks and a few different lengths. They're all useful. When making the kayak deck fittings nothing I found could make tight curves without kinky. The glue sticks were ideal. (and of course you don't heat them up.)
    For more complicated molds use modeling clay, shape it, then you can coat it with mold release, wax, or nothing.

    Great video work again Mark, multitasking at its best. I don’t know any boat that doesn’t have equipment failure so it’s all part of the sailing life we enjoy!

      I agree it sounds weird but it’s pretty hard to slow this boat down. As the others were double reefing as well we lost contact over vhf but messaging over iridium go works fine

    I used to be a migraine sufferer until I discovered Kratom. I make a tea out of it that I drink a medium glass of every morning. I haven't had a migraine nor arthritis pain in the past three years since I have been drinking this tea. I got my mother to drink it and her arthritis is a non-issue for her now. Love all the clever camera angles with the music choice. I can dig it

    Sure was choppy out of that atoll. Yuk. Beautiful images with the 360. Hard to comprehend that they hadn't seen another sailboat in 3 years. They must have freaked to get the whole rally!!!!

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not the whole rally but 5 of us so far and in the meantime 9 boats in total. Curious how this will be in Wallis.

    Some wear and minor breakage but nothing really worrisome, I hope you get the big screen going again soon. Still very warm here on the Costa Blanca, waiting for the end of August when all the tourists will disappear almost overnight.

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s working again must be moisture in the hdmi manual connection. Probably will use it to Wallis but we have to take care when the BandG (and autopilot) restarts by itself …

    Nice sailing video work : congrats !
    Just few questions if you don't mind.
    - How deep can you sail your downwind gennaker in these conditions ? 150° or more. Is it easy to furl ?
    - Do you use your symmetrical spi only full downwind ?
    - Wich brand is your davits solar panels ? Why different panels between roof and davits ?

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the wind speed the gennaker will work up until 150 to 160 max. With more wind you can go a bit deeper
      No you can use the spi up to 110 with lower wind speeds
      Not sure about the solar panels on the davits

    If you please, how would the sea state have felt if you were in your former Lagoon?

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not even easy to compare the L52S with the Outremer 55. The Outremer cuts much better through the waves, it doesn’t decelerate in the next wave and “the man with the hammer” barely hits the bridgedeck. The Lagoon on the other hand is much heavier which generates a certain motion comfort as well. On our return across the Atlantic in 2020 we had a significant wave height of 7 meters on the Lagoon. It made a lot of noise but didn’t feel uncomfortable

    Around minute 7-9 is the autopilot able to handle this, or do you steer great circle by hand?

    • @CatGreatcircle

      No we skipped American Samoa after all as we didn’t get any reply after they copied in 65 officials upon our entry request. So we went to the real Samoa.
