- Ahoy legends, in this episode I let the internet pick my lures.. BUT WILL THEY CATCH FISH? I'd decided I was going to head out chasing pelagics but figured, why not turn to social media to see which lures everyone wanted to run. Alas I came up with "The Peoples Spread"! I hope you enjoy the episode!

@@SammyHitzkeFishing we’ve had riggers abit over a year now, and it’s the favorite noise of my boys in the boat! When the troll is slow is a good noise to wake up to…so they tell me…I get to stay awake and drive ;)
@26 minutes, when you hooked the Mahi and it was starting to cross the other lines = “Murphy’s law”!!!!

Got to love tnose outriggers. I'm the guy who runs five poles and two handlines. A bit of a fire drill sometimes but do the best i can when i get one or two on. Go get um!!!

I bought a couple of your weighted trolling heads and was wondering at what speed do you like to troll em with gars. And or strip baits? Mahi and makeral fishing. Thanks for any advice mate😊
I generally let the lures dictate the speed mate. Usually 8-10kms usually does it
What I would do to go fishing with Sammy. I’m from Brisbane and my boat isn’t good enough to go out super deep so we can’t go fishing for big fish but we try 😂
That’s the go mate! Plenty of big fish to be caught Landbased and inshore, just got to put in the work 💪💪

Both species are sensational table fish. Spanish is the best fish ever for fish tacos 🌮
Yeah you’re not wrong! Mahi Mahi are actually my favorite fish taco fish, Spanish I like to have for ceviche and even poke bowls!
Sammy, you are fishing with the big kids now. My fav fish are big Snook and my big one is about 39lbs. on a large mullet in Biscayne Bay. Talk about great chewing! Good luck. sm

Just because the Spanish are jumping mate...doesn't mean you need to troll ...l would have stopped and cast a 70/100 gram Mega bait Anchovy or mackerel pattern on a hyper speed Daiwa saltiest 7:3/1 lever drag....glad to see you take a gaff shot and get it in the boat. 😅
I actually did have a few casts, they weren’t interested. Not sure why, I didn’t really have a great range of casting lures with me that day either. Might have to go back out and try get even on the cast! 👌
Here is my recommendation for lures. Nomad Mad Mac 200 lure, USE mad mac colours ---> Pink - , blue and - green. Watch D&D Fishing, ( On TH-cam) Episode called " Wide open Bluefin Tuna Fishing." Hey mate, nah I was just running the line through the clip. I’m going to rig up a tag line though just to get the line angle off the rod tip a bit better 👌
Interesting to see your set-up and put everything to the test
Don't care whatever any person in the fishing industry says... they're obviously paid to say so, do not spray water into your reels! All you are doing is pushing that salt/corrosion into your reel! If you are actually good mates with a real tackle master they will tell you the exact opposite! The industry makes a helluva lot more money from you with this advice! Take off your spool and spray with lanox or any other lanolin based product and every other moving parts then wipe down with a cloth and you will save your money and any other problems with your gear, I also clean my rods and especially rod guides with the same product. If you dunk your reel or haven't serviced for a while then send it back to your supplier, hopefully shimano and get a full service
Lanolin, never again.... Seized the AR bearings in two spinners, as it dries n leaves a thick resin behind . use sewing machine oil instead

The tie down band that you hooked onto the rigger poles we have always tied/hooked back onto the boat to hold them in..?

Hey mate, they actually don’t need to be clipped onto the boat at all. That’s coming from reelax directly. Half the reason I got them so I could just pop them out one handed and move them out of the way while fighting a fish. Because they are locked into the gimbel piece of the rod holder and because of their angle it would be extremely difficult to have them pop out of their own accord. There is no upward force to achieve that, especially while a line is connected and you’re trolling. As reelax said, you’ll break your rod holder before they come out.

Mate Spanish and king mackerel are different
They are pretty close genetically actually. It’s more just to provide reference to my international viewers. We are the only place that calls them Spanish mackerel. Spanish mackerel in the USA is a different mackerel again. Was just helping to provide context 👍👍

I have been using those wog heads for 25 years. Make my own from bean sinkers and you can buy the fancy materials for the skirt from a lot of tackle shops or fly fishing outfitters.
Use a cone spring to slide over the mouth with a tab of wire to hold it, to stop the guts blowing out!

What length are those ocean warrior strokes rods? Looking to do a very simple trolling set-up : one diver one skirt for 1 man band operations. Not going for marling, just targeting tuna and mahi
They are 5’6 mate. Great rods, I use the 15kg and the 24kg ones for most of my trolling efforts!
