I usually visualize Red's Pokemons to have a more primal form compared to others of the same species and have a title for each: Storm Pikachu: Have blue eyes and constant stream of lighting coursing through its entire body, something like a lightning aura. Has a more ragged and hairy appearance. It enters the battle jumping from Red's shoulder and calls lightning from the skies when using thunderbolt. Inferno Charizard: Covered in battle scars, Red's Charizard is a lot more taller and longer arms with spikes on its elbow. It also has an extra horn on its head, all of them having a small flame on top. Enters the battle like a meteorite. Typhoon Blastoise: Bulkier and bigger than normal. Like Inferno, it has scars everywhere and scratches from the shell. Has its Mega evolution's extra cannon, but smaller. Enters the battle spinning from a nearby hot spring. Terra Venusaur: As big as a small house. Everywhere has vine hanging of it and even small trees on its back. Enters the battle stomping, causing small earthquakes, from the back, where every foot print has a small plants grow behind it. Giga Snorlax: Just the same Snorlax but bigger and muscles instead of fat and the obligatory scars. I recall listening to this metal cover as own BGM for playing Epic Battle Fantasy 5 and battling against Lance and the Neon Valkyrie. Because he has the same name as the Pokemon character, my father has once accidently referred him as a dragon-type trainer instead of an officer.
The battle against Red was one of the most hype moments in video gaming for me. It helped that it was when I was still a child (around 8 or 9) and before the widespread use of the internet where half truths and rumours floated around. It also comes at the end of a gruelling and optional dungeon filled with high level pokemon and requiring flash, surf, waterfall and maybe strength (been ages, I forgot) forcing you through a tough gauntlet until you reach the end where none other than Red, the player character from the previous games stands. Armed with the highest level pokemon in the franchise and a large variety of types it's a brutal battle. And the theme adds to it, Red's theme (because it IS Red's theme, Lance just borrows it) blows every other champion theme out of the water (yes including Cynthia's) with how hype it is. and you my man have somehow managed to make it even better, good job. I can only applaud you for this cover, you managed to capture the moment perfectly.
Oh my God the memories are flooding back. I re-played this fight so many times just to hear the theme. This is amazing! 1:25 was always my favourite part of the song and you made it SO much better!

No words are needed, you both know why you’re here... then you clash. The sounds of the battle of battles being the only score needed to tell of this exchange’s ferocity. The greatest battle in all of Kanto and Johto taking place atop the frigid mountain. (Also the greatest battle in most of the regions, very few trainers in the series are of a similar level to red. None even come to mind atm)

Just bought it on iTunes. Props to you. This is the BEST rendition of Lance’s Battle theme I have ever heard, and there’s been a lot of them.
This song really captures when that original era ended. Such an epic triumph, but such anguish at the same time.
This feels so fitting for Lance. A true way to capture the feel of an epic battle.
