Gai Jatra is a traditional festival celebrated in Bhaktapur and other parts of Nepal. It's a lively and unique event that combines both mourning and merriment. Families who have lost a loved one during the past year participate in a procession where they dress up in costumes and paint their faces to resemble cows and other characters. This is done as a way to help the departed souls find their way to the afterlife.
