I’m contemplating buying the Legion go because I wanna be able to play PC games through windows so I can access my Steam and windows store games in addition to needing a portable PC with a trackpad as I have lost winds in my steam library
You won't regret the LEGO. The vrr works great on the ally x, however, when using it as a desktop to an oled monitor or oled tv it causes flicker. Theres youtube videos out on the subject. Vrr is great on ths ally x, but vrr has to be turned off when outputting signal to oled moniters. Defeats its purpose. Now you know why Asus didnt go with oled. Lego is so underrated! All handhelds serve a purpose to the user. For 499 on Amazon its a steal. Reddit has a forum on how to get the speakers to sound great on the Lego. Go to Realtek audio and change to vocal, and adjust the last 3 bars to your liking. That 8.8 screen rocks. So many videos on AAA games settings for the Lego. You wont regret it. Happy playing..
I had a steam deck and have the legion go now. I sold my steam deck because of the legions screen. It just a difference experience with a screen that big. I also installed a 4tb 2280 ssd and dual boot windows and bazzite which is just a custom version of steam os. If you want it just for gaming then the steam deck does the job but if you want a workstation then legion go all the way. I use it as a tablet, photoshop, gaming ect.
I absolutely agree with you on the PS Portal controller being the best. I've been using a steam deck for 2 years now and I used Chiaki to remote play to the PS5 and it truly is great. We bought a second hand PS portal not long ago so my son could play Astro remotely and I decided to test it as well and yeah, having the PS5 controller on a remote device is just amazing. I love my steam deck and it's still my primary device, but having the PS portal has me using the PS5 more and more each day. I have no desire to use Chiaki anymore now that I get a bigger screen and haptics on the Portal.
If the legion go release an updated pro version with better specs and oled screen, it would be undefeated imo. Its arguably the beat handheld for emulation as well
How? When the original ally often cranks out higher fps and the x is just more powerful with more ram and almost doubt the battery? Aside from the huge display which you can't run games comfortably at that res..why would it be better for emulators?
I just got a Legion Go! and I can't wait to use it! I also got it on sale at amazon for $472. If I don't like it I will send it back and get a steam deck
That's what I just did LOL. I first got the Steam Deck Oled, then I ran through the Ally X, Legion Go, sold my PS Portal and now back to Steam Deck Oled. I think it's the best. 🤣
As a new handheld gamer this is all so confusing to me. Steam Deck looks simple to just start and go whereas the other two seems more intuitive. I am a filmmaker who works on a Mac and I love it! lol I don’t ever see myself building a PC HOWEVER I did want to try out having a handheld. But after watching reviews on the Lenovo Go it seems very complicated to get it to run smoothly. The steam deck feels more my speed with it already being setup to just game. However I haven’t seen good reviews on the games I want to play like Hogwarts, GTA, Forza, F1, Demon Slayer etc! It seems to okay older games and emulators well but the games I like it does not but the Legion does! I’m so confused 😭😭 I don’t want to trick out my handheld I just want to play
If you want to have a smooth pick up and play experience out of the box, then SD OLED is definitely the way to go! However, you may have to reduce the resolutions through every in-game option menu to get more frames. Ally X and LLG can be made to be pick up and play too, you just have to know Windows 11, that about it. I installed Windows 11 to dual boot my SD OLED and received the best of both worlds!
Glad you like it. BTW, I've been wanting to ask someone. Why you have that red youtube icon next to your username? I've been seeing it alot on some users.
The Legion Go at or under $550 is probably a good buy for most. The biggest issues I had with mine was lack of software updates,, battery life, badly organized gaming UI / Library, and no OEM controller attachments. Battery life and controller attachments can be fixed with other options but that's more money for a device that still has the huge problem of updates and a disorganized UI. These problems made me just return mine to get my money back.
My biggest complaint for the #LegionGo is the lack of AMD Software update. Since day one, I have been side loading the AMD drivers. That should not be like that.
I have the Legion Go, Asus Rog Ally, Steam Deck, and, of course, modded Oled Switch. The Legion Go was my daily driver but, that borderless window in some games is causing issues lately for me. Also seems Lenovo has stopped updating the software or even updating the Drivers before folks say it's up to AMD it's not the GPU that both the Asus Rog and, Legion is using are not fully supported by AMD which is why both companies got a good deal on the GPU. So it's up to Asus and, Lenovo to update the drivers or you could side-load the official AMD drivers but, Windows updates will remove it. This is what I want from a pc handheld. A Legion Go size 1440p OLED HDR screen at 120hz. I know this is not a good take for most but, Asus did the best job of handling the Windows OS front-facing speakers that sound like Asus Rogs trackpads like Steam Deck and, of course a decent size 3 and, a half-hour battery. 32GB or 64GB drr5 ram and, a gpu equivalent to a 4060.
They have that, It comes out in 6-9 years. Right now the Legion GO is comparable to a 1060 because it's the best batteries that size can handle. That's 3 generations old. with 2+ years per generation, your looking at 6-9 years and most likely the ladder. Although you could get lucky with increase in technology and get it 4-5 years. Either way your gonna be waiting awhile
I love my Lego. Its such an underrated device. Its hard to choose a handheld when it comes to price and functionality. The Lego has more power than the steamdeck and bigger screen. Ally x has vrr but cant be used on oled monitors without flicker. And that higher ram doesnt give a major significant fps change to justify the price and past warranty issues others have had on the ally x. Its a niche market, imagine what this will be like 5 to 10 years from now. The Lego just made sense. Great video. They all serve a purpose to keep us entertained. Keep on playing....
Just got mine at target for Black Friday for Black Friday 350. The big boy is chunky, and I still use my oled deck more due to it being a lil smaller less strain for my arms.
I used to have that same Bluetooth speaker you got in the background with the wood grain, I lost it in the forest fire but it's cool to see maybe I'll go reorder one of those again I know the companies switch to making other products but I'm sure I could still find it if I wanted. I think they started making microphones from what I remember.
Love my modded Legion Go. Has a 2280 4 TB, 25000 145W battery pack that I can slide to lock on vertical mount i repurposed from a portable mophie phone battery pack. Two 180 usb c to usb c help with cable management. Yes its beefy has extra weight. It turned into a lap held gaming. Only wish it had oculink port.
How's now? Do you feel regret yet? I heard the battery would only last for 1 hour. I was planning to buy legion go to play Skyrim anniversary on max graphics
@@TheOneWhoSuffers Not at all, tinkering RivaTuner , Lossless scaling to X2, refresh screen rate to 60Mzh lets me game 1200P(my preferred) to 60 fps without stutters and ghosting. The battery pack gets me 3-3.5 hours on 25 TDP. Mostly play RPG and single player. Installed this Front speaker attachment today which sends the audio to me and the fan noise away, partially solved the audio problem on stock.
Great review I learned something new. The way technology is today the Switch2 would have to have superlative specs over any other handheld for someone to purchase it with the way emulation is. I’m afraid that soon as I purchase a Lego or Steam Deck the Steam Deck 2 will come out a month or so later and I’d be really pissed. 😂
Though its underpowered and underperforms compared to the other handhelds the switch is still my favorite. Im more of console person i don't like fiddling with games to try to make it work which i heard the downsides of the pc handheld you have to do with some games. I have been thinking getting a steamdeck but I'm wondering about waiting as heard some rumors another one may come out next year.
If the Playstation Portal works like that, then can it truly be called a "Portable Gaming Console", and compared to the likes of The Steam Deck, Switch, Legion Go or Rog Ally? Strikes me as a shitty move by Sony, trying to cash in on the portable console market, while, at the same time, making sure that you have to buy a PS5 also. That works out as being more expensive than any of the other competitors, while also being worse, since you can't play anything unless you own a PS5.
I’m a deck user track pad lover dual sticks hater….need the power of the legion go also need the track pad I challenge you to make the track pad as accurate as possible in fps games…..now don’t be shy ☺️
@hk6926 the Steam deck Oled can't keep up with Legion, your crazy Legion has a Z1 chip...unlike they modded deck which still run games at 800p at best Legion can run games much higher specs
@@blastu2fool you know that doesn't matter when every time to switch on the damn go , you are invited with issues . Good hardware but very bad software and worse optimization of z1 extreme .
Playstation portal is wack. The legion has terrible battery life and the speakers are also garbage, but it still craps on the rest if you are a steam and xbox gamer. Plus I use FL Studios with the focusrite audio interface to make beats on my legion and it works incredibly. Even with my midi controller.

On that level alone, the recent sale price is completely justified.
