I'm not one to post comments much but DAMN! The drummer straight killed it, and wtf was that 5:45 That was 100% fire! Gotta love the bassline. I chilled in Kaneshiro's palace for a good 5 hours just chillin.
the fact this song essentially evolves to a freestyle in the middle then transitions back near the end is so great and embodies the feeling the song gave off so well man, y'all are so awesome
That's actually a super common song format in jazz, if you weren't already aware. Kind of the "default" song form in small ensembles like this is to play the "head" (essentially the main theme or motif of the song) at the beginning of the tune, then everyone does some solos, then you play the head again and that closes out the tune. Most jazz tunes can fit on a single page of sheet music and just repeat the same chord progression (which may be complicated, see Giant Steps for a classic example) for the whole thing.
I know you guys probably won't read this but it gives me so much joy to see fellow musicians jamming out such a fantastic soundtrack like Persona 5. Also I needed an extended version of Price so this video is a dream come true, thanks!
Dude that fill at 1:17, I don't know if that was in the original or not, but as a drummer, that was EXTREMELY tasty, nice and simple, but just perfect for the time. Just straight in the groove, and I was into that.
To answer the question in the description, from the translated commentary of the OST: "The melody uses a simulation of a west Asiatic tribal instrument called a zurna.” (Meguro). Amazing cover!
From synthetic horns (Iwatodai Dorm) to synthetic zurnas (Price). It's always interesting to read about the composer's creative process. Thanks for the sharing! Some more commentary for the interior of the 3rd Palace, Price -another version: “The track that plays during the second half of Kaneshiro’s Palace. The music in Kaneshiro’s Palace retains the same mood as the first and second halves, but as the party explores the interior of a certain structure, I did some trial and error to match the track to this aspect.” (Meguro) toofargone.moe/2018/05/09/persona-5-original-soundtrack-composer-comments/

I'd really like an official download of this masterpiece because youtube to mp3 converters suck and can't capture the perfection of this gem
That was easily the best drum solo I’ve heard in my life so far. Amazing performance all around, and if i ever get to see this group in concert I would love to see this be performed!
Been following Norman (the drummer) for many years now and it really warms my heart seeing how much love he's getting, and how better he got with age. Keep rocking, FunkFlash.

The OG song was good but still disappointed me. Y'all MURDERED this track. The improv, the passion, the drummer just going nuts, and it was all fantastic. There is nothing else that can be said.
You lot continue to amaze me, it's unreal how well you can replicate the original song ASWELL as edit it in such a way that makes it sound like it could be the original creator playing it in improv himself, keep up the great work.
I really don't know anything about Persona 5 but this is just incredible musicianship. You guys are the coolest and I hope to have the patience in the future to dedicate myself fully to music theory and learn jazz. You guys are true inspirations
