I am upset that once we are on Medicare that it does not cover allow us to have a annual check up with our OBGYN. It's now stated we can only have the exam once every two years. Not fair!
Here's the kicker, I went to my OBGYN after the 2 years wait and because the right coding wasn't processed for the exam, I received a bill showing a remaining balance due, so I worked on getting that straighten out, then again I received another bill - still with a smaller remaining balance dues(?) that Medicare would not cover. That bill took me 9 months to get someone nice enough to make sure the bill was resubmitted and taken care of.
    1. I'm very upset that Medicare has listed women as either being old or not young enough to get annual exams. I guess they forgot women over 65 are still active. We're not dead yet.
    2. Women over 65 should still be covered under Medicare for annual exams for preventive measure, because anything can be going on inside our uterus. More and more women are diagnosed with uterus cancer and breast cancer and it bothers me we are being put on the back burner.

I miss the old method of getting a medical checkup which was a very complete one. Now, since I'm on medicare I find the doctor merely wants to 'talk' about certain things which follows the weigh in and blood pressure check. This is nothing more than a HS physical for sports. How inept.

Talk to your doctor. Go in with a list of your concerns. If things don’t change, find a new doctor.

That’s because Medicare doesn’t pay for an annual physical! An annual wellness visit is NOT an annual physical! Patients should not have to request tests for each body part. Contact CMS and your representatives! They know how important a basic annual physical is to longevity. Why have seniors and their agents tolerated loss of this basic coverage?

I understand the value of prevention, but I also know my body. If something is not right, the provider will be the second one to know.

DR.RIDDLE my surgeon told me that Medicare approved the hospital stay and the surgery of knee revision. I told him the day of surgery if Medicare hasn't approved it I will go home. He assured me that Medicare approved every thing.

The annual wellness check is joke. The doctor is not aloud to touch you.My doctor does it at the same time as he gives me my full medical check up for which I have to make a part payment and he charges for both. I questioned this to the accounts department and they said that medicare wants it this way. They agreed it was a waste of medicare funds.

How about a list of the specific tests Medicare covers, with how often they are covered. Once a year, once every two years, etc. Please do not just state "preventive tests" as that really isn't helpful. A patient should know what specific test, how often covered, is there any cost to the patient after both primary and secondary insurance has paid, so it can serve as an effective means of discussion with the doctor or other provider.

Here's how my doctor does it. A 20-something medical assistant asks all the questions such as are you pissing on yourself, are you falling down, can you tell time on a clock with moveable hands (yes thank you I learned that over 65 years ago), are you sexually active, can you take care of yourself (yes thank you I am working every day) and other such stupid nonsense. He documents it as counseling, i.e. questions asked about diet are documented as diet counseling, questions about exercise are documented as counseling about heart health. That is all he does except ask about when last mammogram & colonoscopy was. Oh yeah a question is asked if you have an advance directive. He documents it saying an X amount of time was spent counseling patient about advance directives. He gets paid. I get nothing but asked stupid questions. This is the most worthless exercise I have ever encountered at a doctors office. It should be against the law for a doctor to document lies. I will NEVER again be tricked into such a stupid exercise. Yes it is ALL about money and ZERO about patient health.

@@evelinegarrison5354 Yes, it's insulting. Just because we turned 65 doesn't mean we've become demented invalids. I teach aerobics! My step aerobics instructor will be 80 this month, and still using the step. This "canned" program is ridiculous.
And if the doctor examines you physically, that changes it from "wellness" to something else you must pay for. It's crazy.

I have 3 sisters and a daughter who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. One of those sisters died from the disease at 58. I have a breast check up every year because I am at high risk for the disease. In that check up a MRI has been included to make sure there is no cancer. During my exam this year I was charged $410 for the MRI when it has been covered in the past by medicare in my routine exam. Can you explain why I am now charged.
