    Last year I was diagnosed with low-tension glaucoma diagnosed after a Field of Vision test at my Ophthalmologist's office. Because my eye pressures were normal, this was the only reason the glaucoma was diagnosed plus I am in my 80's. No family history of glaucoma nor diabetes. I am taking eye drops for this condition.

    So, Medicare covers a glaucoma test once every 12 months *if you're high-risk*. What if you're not high-risk? Does it cover a test less frequently, or not at all?

    • @laurelparker3171

      As far as I can tell from the .gov website for medicare, It doesn't cover screenings at all, except for the demographics listed in the video, but does cover treatment once you are diagnosed, no matter your risk factor before diagnosis.

      I think I heard them say that Medicare will pay 80%. You are responsible for the other 20%. If you want a specific range, the prices are all different depending on where you choose to get it done. You'll need to call the facility for specific pricing.

      I went through this yesterday w a med. ins. counseler. The answer is to ask the doctor for a price list. They all have one, including dentists. As you pointed out, a percentage means nothing without a real number/price to apply it to.
      It's a scam. Where else do you go to find prices that say X percent off, if you don't know the list price? Rhetorical question. Hope this helps.

    • @glry
      @glry 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AA-hg7xq A scam; exactly the whole thing is a scam... but curious. Hmmm. A doctor handing over a pricelist? lol. They don't deal with prices so you mean the receptionist or accounting dept. Most likely don't even have eye coverage anyway.

      @@lafayettegirl9288 I went to two ophthalmologists a couple months apart. With insurance I paid $168 and then $268. This was my 30% private insurance co-pay. Second place was for a second opinion on my closed angle glaucoma diagnosis and was out of insurance network.

      👓🤓 If Medicare did pay for glasses they would be cheap quality, ugly & cost to much to repair. Try some the chain store "Vision Works" that do specials prices for 1 or 2 pairs of glasses for $59.00. or Take your eye glasses prescription to a online seller "Venni optical" did my progressive lens glasses were less than $60.00. You have to look around for better prices on products you need like glasses. You can always just replace the lenes in a old pair eyeglass frames.
      Try the Goodwill sells cheap used glasses. These are your best option for low cost eyeglasses.
      👓Good luck

      Be glad you are given the test. No family history and my brother would of answered No to all the questions plus he wasn’t even 60 yrs old and he lost his eye sight because of glaucoma and is now legally blind. That means no need for his boat, his truck or golf clubs all that was replaced with a cane. Be Thankful your eye doctor is trying to prevent you from becoming legally blind from glaucoma.
