  • A quick cell phone vid of the 88B. A walk around followed by some inside operation vid. Not sure why the resolution of the inside vid is bad, the original clips are good

    Thank you for taking the time to share your day. It isn't everyday you get a 88B view. Beautiful well kept machine.

    COOL 😎 Rob ran the BE-88B in the Rock Quarries in Miami, the older style where you actually sat in the front of the engine room in 1971… Later he ran a newer model like THIS one in a coal strip mine in the Washington area of Indiana, it was a NEW one about a year old (in the 75-76 year) and when customer’s wanted to see an 88-B in action, the BUCYRUS ERIE factory in Evansville would bring them up to the mine he worked at in big cars to watch him run it for 20-30 minutes standing around in suits.. LOL 🤣👏🥳

      I'm not sure where all it did, but this machine used to strip coal in Indiana. It was bought new in 78 and is still owned by the same people today. This is the first dragline I was ever on as a kid, and the 88B that I own now is just one serial number off of this one.

      @@be2570w … OK, So you actually Have one Now, WOW, how cool is That..!! 👌✅
      Rob Mostly ran LIMA 2400’s at rock quarries in Florida, but when that business slowed down he switched over to Flying night freight 22 years, that business was cut throat also and companies coming n going as yearly bidding went out. 🫣 I’m pretty sure the longest company he stayed with was Connie’s Kalitta’s (the Drag Racer) American International Airways, Kalitta Air LLC now, but gave all that up in 2002 for heavy equipment again..!!

      @@annafraley5388 I'm a pilot as well, but never done it for a living. Kalitta used to operate out of Terre Haute at one time. Not far from me. And I used to race sprint cars with Doug Kalitta about 25 years ago.

      @@be2570w … Small world, Eh?? Yes we did Roadway Global out of terre Haute back in 95 with the 727s, but I (Rob) was scheduled over to the 747s in January 1996 so started going Much Farther away then like around the World 🌎 but it took a long time to get there..!! 😱 started taking lessons in 1971 in Miami but didn’t finish ALL the ratings till about December 1980 the took until January of 82 to get That illosusive FIRST Job, copilot on DC-3s for 800 $ a month..!! A guy told me while finishing the ratings, “You can Always Love flying. But it will NEVER Love you back”… turned out to be a very True statement…!!!

      Where's the boom lever?

    • @standinglure2091
      @standinglure2091 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@scottmcquarrie7295 B.E. draglines that size are 99% ran on a reversing transmission, in short answer the boom, swing, and travel are all one lever. They are engaged by jaw clutches that operator controls in cab via air controls. Less moving parts than most other draglines makes the 88b more dependable & less strain on engine turning bull gears.
