Port forwarding does not change your Internet speed or your ping at all. Port forwarding serves a completely different purpose, namely to host servers for multiplayer games over the internet. You only need port forwarding if you're hosting games or playing games that may make you the host. Do not use manual port forwarding, use UPnP if it works properly. Also always remember that the traffic on these ports is forwarded directly. If the game has security holes, the computer/console can also be attacked.
I having issues with random strict nat via WiFi on my series x. Verizon fios upnp is enabled from the factory , one min I get an open nat the next strict. Tried doing DMZ host that I was on TH-cam. Still the same issues. We then tried port forwarding using all the ports we found listed on Google that said the Xbox needs to have them open then on the Xbox the only ports you can select are like 6 different numbers so we put those in there as well. It’s driving me crazy. Legit about to give you my email to talk more
@@mysixfo8805 What is supposed to be random strict nat via WiFi? There is no such thing as random, the manufacturer of the game clearly specifies which ports are used via port forwarding or UPNP (which the whole thing does independently), this can be different for each game and has nothing to do with the console in the first instance. Also, you only need port forwarding if you want to be the host, it is not necessary for normal gaming. There is nothing wrong with using DMZ to separate the networks, but this also needs to be configured accordingly. Look at the ports specified by the manufacturer for each game, make sure you use the correct TCP and/or UDP protocols. No ports actually need to be set on the Xbox, what have you set? Also make sure that the Xbox does not have a dynamic IP address, but a static one. With a dynamic one, the IP address of the Xbox can change and is no longer the same as the one you have configured for port forwarding on the router. Also check that UPNP is enabled on your router, only on the Xbox is not enough. That's all I can take from your comment, what is not working?

This was the best description of port forwarding that I have watched. How about showing how to set up a set of LAN relays that can be purchased from places like Amazon and provide remote control from a simple web server?
There's an important step you missed here: Check the DHCP range of your router and choose an IP address outside of that range. For example, my range is 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.128. So for my PS5 IP I chose 192.168.0.130. This ensures my router will never choose this IP for another device.
You can do that but I use the IP address inside my range. I use an address far away from any of my current IP addresses. For instance my last IP address range in my home is 192.168.1.117, I use 192.168.1.201 or higher and I will never overlap any IP addresses in my DHCP range. I have 255 IP addresses available and never even use half of them so I will never overlap. Thank you for watching.

I would suggest adding by 1935, 3074, 3478-3480 all in one entry for at least the PS5. Most current routes accept multiple ports in a row. If not using Port Forward software. I'd also suggest instead of setting a static IP address for PS5 that in your router settings setup a IP Reservation on the Routers DHCP page. Find the MAC Address for your PS5 under current leases and copy it from there and ad it to DHCP Reservation list. Honestly I doubt it will increase your Internet speed this is honestly a red herring. Finding the fastest DNS server to you would give better results. Windows 11 now has the ability to encryption DNS for security conscious people. Network> Advanced network> Wi-Fi> View Additional Edit DNS manual 1.1.1.1 DNS over HTTPS Automatic & 1.0.0.1 for secondary. That's CloudFlare DNS server which is one of the fastest DNS servers out there. Only maybe Google's faster but not that Google is known for privacy and they don't have encryption available. OpenDNS is.a little better but pain to setup.

Do you need to reset the router or ps5 after applying these?
You can restart both but dont reset.
Thanks for the great information I really appreciate it.
Hey, yeah thats exactly what my router has, it has 2 settings, internal and external port so im a bit confused but took a pic, would u mind checking its ok. Really appreciate it
Would "reserving" be the same things as "IP Allocation"? Asking because I'm dumb 😂
Thanks this was great! I'm trying to do this on a Motorola router and when setting up the port forwarding I have to put in the start/end point for the local/external IP addresses. I'm not sure what to put for the local start/end points so any help on how to do this for a Motorola router would be awesome
I think the local IP address start point is your gateway and your endpoint is the static IP of the PS5. Give that a try and keep me posted. Thank you for watching.
From where did you get the primary and secondary DNS, becuase this is differnet from time stamp 2:56 in your video. THe primary DNS and Defult gateway had the same value. Hnece if would be nice if you can explain from where did you get primary and secondary DNS. ??
I used Cloudflare DNS but you can leave it blank if you want. Sorry for not explaining the DNS settings.
@@UltimateTechHub I highly appreciate that you have taken time to respond my query. Port forwarding didn't increase any speed or improve any gaming experience for me. COD / Active Vision doesn't have serves in India
How do you get to router setting?
Follow these instructions. th-cam.com/video/p-wZNeKRN7c/w-d-xo.html
Is 2.4 ghz good from far distance
Yes very good for distance!
Hey, is this works in the UK as well? I have the same issue from Vodafone. If it works i will try to do this.
Yes it works in the UK. If you have any issues with NAT type not switching to Type 1 just enable UPnP. Thank you for watching.
My only problem is when i try to port forwarding, i also need to put WAN port start and end as well not just LAN port start and end. Or both is the same?
So if I use my dns setting numbers I can’t use google dns ?
You can use whichever DNS you prefer. I like cloudflare. Thank you for watching!
Hello, I have a ZTE F680 router and I'm a little confused about how to do port forwarding, it's completely different than on your router. I have wan host start ip and wan host end ip address end have lan host ip addres and port i have wan start port and wan end port and lan host start port and lan host end port🤦. I don't understand what to use from this? Please answer bro
Do I take a pic of your screen or what’s on my screen with my game system information
You can use my settings.
Does port forwarding matter if you're ps5 is the only device that has access to internet?
Yes
@@UltimateTechHub thanks. Should i change mtu as well?
@@Vidsofgaming You don't need to but you can if you want. I have a video on that subject. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.
Thx, so far diablo 4 is running soooo much smoother, was constantly rubberbanding, could be placebo but not sure
Hey how do I get to my routers settings? On my laptop or?
Type the IP address of your router into the web browser of the laptop. Try 192.168.1.1
Can u do this with the spectrum router? I don’t have the settings for all the router stuff
There’s so many numbers on apex ps5, do you know which ones I do?
How do you go to your router setting to find the primary and secondary DNS?
Here is a video on how to log into the router. th-cam.com/video/p-wZNeKRN7c/w-d-xo.html
Hope this helps and keep me posted.
@@UltimateTechHub thank you, I will try this.
i Have a question, if anyone can answer, If I port forward to my PS5, what about my other devices connect to router through Wifi, will they be still be able to use the internal like before port forwarding
We are entering exactly what you are typing with the internet wired connection????
Yes, that's the fastest connection.
How do you know if your ps5 is over heating?
Check the back of the PS5. If its hot to the touch then power off the PS5 for about 20 minutes. Mine gets how during GT7. Thank you for watching.
@@UltimateTechHub Okay thank you.
Hey so I'm having a very hard time locating my secondary DNS, I'm using 5G broadband and it's nowhere to be found on my router's website - checked Network in my Macbook and it only shows 1 DNS line, no secondary DNS at all.. What do I put in to th Playstation 5?
Under Network Status I have Network Connection which shows two DNS lines! Should I also be using the WAN IP and Gateway used here too? Or only these DNS lines?
How did u change your nat type 2 i have mine on 3
did you find out how to change it? i’m having this problem and i really need help
@@manthy-un1fm yes i called up my Internet provider to opted out cgnat
How to do you find the dns
It's in router settings. It may be blank which is fine. I use 1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3.
@@UltimateTechHubmine is blank and I can use that and it’ll be fine
@@UltimateTechHubor should I try and find the dns my router is using rn cause I can’t find it
Hello it gave me external and internal ports, not start or end, what should I do?
Internal is start and external is end I believe. Keep me updated.
@@UltimateTechHubso you just put both in yeah, mine has that too, so it says
EXTERNAL PORTS. START... END....
INTERNAL PORTS. START... END...
so i just put say for example 3480 3490, u just put 3480 in start of both and 3490 in end of both internal and external ?
Speeds were great 3 days ago, now every single streaming app is buffering and dropping to 480p. When I switch over to the smart tv and start up netflix it streams 4k flawlessly. When doing a speed test my phone and laptop both get over 400Mbps but the ps5 is stuck at 12Mbps. Been like that for 3 days now. (I'm on a 1Gbps internet package)
Sometimes a reboot of your router and switch and the PS5 will fix this. Sounds like a connection issue.
Can i do this currently?
Yes
Can you do this for Wi-Fi?
I believe you can do this over wifi. I haven't tried it but in theory it should work. Keep me posted and thank you for watching!
Hi, i did all the steps and still got the nat type 3. Should i type a different ipv4 address when customising advanced settings?
Using a TP-Link Deco XE75, in Port Forwarding there's "internal" and "external" ports to set... do I just set both the same, eg 1935 (PS5) ?
Why do you use primary and secondary dns from the router and not ps5?
Secondary dns i just guess right??
Cuz you said it and moved on like it’s nothing ???
1.1.1.3 Primary
1.0.0.3 Secondary
It's not really necessary for the port-forwarding, it's just what I do.
Thanks for watching.
My page looks different and asks for a base host port. What do I put for that
So for my specific router when I go to port forward the ps5 there is a place for “external port” and “internal port” with no dash, so there is no “start - end port” like yours. Which would be my start port and which would be my end if my only two options are external and internal port? I use spectrum/charter if that matters.
Use the same port number for both. Good luck and keep me posted! Thank you for watching I really appreciate it!
It worked thank you so much! ❤️ I subscribed
@@EMILYblau7804 Awesome!! Glad to help!! Thank you for watching and for subscribing I really appreciate it!
I get a your internet service provider or router may be oreventing your ps5 from connecting to the internet you can connect to the internet via the same network as your ps5 by testing the connection using your computer or phone?
How to get to Router settings
3:53 what do you even mean go back to router settings . Is this a website i was following you up to this point . What is any of that? Do i go on my computer ? What is the website ? So many questions
Log back into your router settings. 192.168.1.1. Is usually the IP address.
@@UltimateTechHubi understand but what is that page showed. How do you see those settings , is that on the ps5 or a pc ?
@@Herbster0 Both. The settings for the router and for the PS5. You to need configure both.
@@UltimateTechHubi am still confused. Where do i go to configure both ?
@@Herbster0 The PS5 configurations are in the PS5 settings menu under network settings. The router configurations are under network settings look for portforwarding. To log into your router type in the routers IP address. The back of the router should show the IP address. Type it in on your computer and log in.
the port foward website in the video doesnt work at all. What other website can i use to the port numbers that i would for my system? Preferrably ports that support both TCP and UDP because my router supports both
Yes it does? I just accessed it... perhaps it was down at the time you tried.
How is your upload so high!? I have 500 down, but only 10 up
Some ISPs limit upload speeds. COX cable allows only 30Mbps upload. Who is your ISP?
@@UltimateTechHubI have Spectrum. Overall I’m happy with it, but I was blown away by your upload speed.
I recently got a PlayStation Portal, and your video was still a huge help in getting it to run far better than it did at first.
Does this work for multiple PS5s?
Yes. Thanks for watching!
