@@karolyncollado Sad to say I closed my shop. I reached 500 listings (which was my goal). All with video ads on etsy, great seo, weekly sales, free shipping, etc etc. I tried so many approaches to get some traction. Designs were semi-professionally designed... and on trend. Great mock-ups. Anyway, after 10 months of 40+ hours of work weekly on my shop, I made the decision to cut losses. And closed my sweet store. I'll, take your advice. I'm new on Etsy, just acoue of weeks, with my own products, no sales jet, thinking about to start print on demand with nother store.
Hi Heather, thanks for the wonderful videos you do. You say that etsy charges 5% on the transaction, basically on the sales, excluding taxes and Shipping, + 0.20$(original listing fee) + 0.20$(auto relisting fee). This is what I found on the net: "There is a 6.5% transaction fee on the sale price (including the shipping price you set). If you accept payments through Etsy Payments, we also collect a 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee when an item is sold". Have things changed since yr video? Do you use Etsy to collect payments or do the clients of yr shop pay you directly and for that reason you do not mention the extra payment fee? do you mind clarifying all this? Many thanks Mau

SHIPPING QUESTION: How do deal with shipping Printify sales on Etsy? I underestimated this and lost money on a sale. And can you do bulk shipping? If you order 4 shirts is the customer billed for 1 shipment or 4? Thanks, love your info.
Thank You Heather for a very insightful tutorial. One question I still have tho...when i set up my Etsy store (my second one), do I put USA as the location of my store as I will be using Printify and that is their location, OR do i use South Africa (my home address)? Hi Heather I know this is quite an old video but do you have any tutorials on social media? I’m really not sure how to use the different platforms. I’m in the UK and sell in the US and I don’t sell to the UK. So I’ll need to build up a following somehow. I’ve avoided social media until now but I think it’s time to consider posting. Do you just put photos up? Difficult to get a video but I could order some samples to the UK and haven’t a go. First, thank you for all the videos. Loving watching them :) I'm curious and confused about shipping. Printify has a shipping column cost and I'm unclear if that is factored into overall cost for the shirt or how that integrates with Etsy.
Amazing insights! I will say that as a consumer, if the shipping costs more than the items purchased then I consider that a huge disappointment. I would make sure that if you charge for shipping make sure it doesn’t cost more than the order subtotal :)
I agree! I am the same way and I should of clarified more why shipping hasn't mattered for me for t-shirts because it's about 4 to 5$ that the customer pays. However, stores competing with your store will add 4 to 5 $ onto their listing and offer free shipping, but I've noticed people are more inclined to click on the lower sale price listing initially, although they pay the same price technically.
Loving the videos and appreciate all the information you're sharing! I am curious about the process of handling customer complaints when they come to you via Etsy or Shopify. Do you then have to work with Printify in some cases for.a reprint, or is the result a refund from Etsy. Curious how you handled this when getting started versus now; might make a great video. Thank you so much for watching! Yes I email Printify 3 to 5 times a day with them. With POD in t-shirts, it's very normal to have defects/stain issues etc. However, I do 500+ orders a month so about less than 5% of them are defects. I used to work in customer service so I was always told to refund for issues or exchange so I've always allowed returns/exchanges. I can definitely do a video more in depth later on!
@@itsheatherstudio Thanks so much for getting back to me. That all makes sense. Glad to hear it is a small percentage of defects. Totally agree on your return/exchange policy! I appreciate your transparency and looking forward to any upcoming videos. Thanks again!
Hi Heather, my question is should I start another Facebook account to put my listings or should I use my personal one? Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them.
You should message the customers and kindly ask for a review. When I’ve bought from Etsy before the shops I’ve bought from have asked me to do it to help them out and I didn’t mind.
I know the nature of Tiktok could real boost sales on a winning design. My concern is that when people get to Etsy they won’t like the other designs and will see you as a one hit wonder. When marketing works on me and I get to the store and I am underwhelmed by the other designs, I will never revisit that store. Like if he shirt I came here for is a certain quality but the rest aren’t, I won’t bother favoriting a store bc it’s not worth keeping tabs on. Is that kind of response cause for concern when trying to take your designs off the platform and on to your own website? I’d imagine you’d need a bulletproof KLT to convert to a branded website.
Hi Heather, thanks for all tips. I am posting on facebook groups dedicated to promoting etsy shops but they are populated only by shop owners and I have no return ... can you suggest some groups where there could be potential buyers? Thanks
hi Heather, do you mind walking us through all the fees Etsy charges? This is what i read, so does that mean we get charged almost 5% twice, once when the sale happens and once when the payment happens and then 0.20 on top of that for listing? Listing fee: It costs US$0.20 USD to publish or renew listings. Listing fees are converted into your Payment account currency at the time the listing is published or renewed. Listings are active for four months or until sold. Transaction fee: When an item sells, we charge a 5% transaction fee on the item and postage prices. Payment processing fee: When an item sells, a 3-4% + AU$0.25 payment processing fee is deducted from the sale total.
Hi Chillie, there is no double charge of the 5% for the sale! 5% transaction fee of whole order valie(minus taxes and shipping) is taken + 0.20$(original listing fee) plus 0.20$(auto relisting fee). So if you sold an item for $10 your Etsy takes 0.90$ and your takehome is $9.10 since 5% is 50 cents plus the 20 cents for listing plus the 20 cents for relisting. This is only on the first purchase I account the first 20 cents listing fee. After your first purchase it's only 20 cents following. Hopefully this helps! :)
So would you guide someone on how they would post things on social media? Is there a video? As this does go into marketing and such. This goes into a separate subject Hereon, but I don’t have much of a following and I’m only on Fb. I do have ig though. currently I’m trying to figure out what happened to my original IG profile after I connected it to my business last year in which I connected it to my Fb. I recently deleted the business part and now when I used my login i don’t have anyone anymore. And my photos are gone. Idk what happened.
I want to start a store (I have one just no current items) I'd like to do print on demand and also some bleaching shirts I currently do in my small Facebook group. Should they be on different stores? What are your suggestions?
It depends on what category and niche you're in versus how saturated it is. In my example, t-shirts are highly saturated so more listings equals more traffic and consistent traffic/sales, to have consistent sales for a full-time business over 300 listings will work for this saturated market HOWEVER I will say other niches like digital products can have under 50 listings and get that consistent conversions. If 4 to 5 listings are selling well in an unsaturated niche, then I think thats a great thing to have. Personally I have seen many stores replicate my own designs and saturate the niche I am in, the only way I've stayed 'above the competition' so to speak is by expanding my listings so I am seen more in the Etsy search.
I pay $12.95 for t shirts and $3.99 for shipping, so I can’t charge $14.99. I charge $19.50 and that’s not much profit. I have 65 listings so far just in 2 weeks. No sales yet. Any advice?
You gained the Instagram followers by just posting mock ups? Also, if you do free shipping, do you just raise the item price by the amount the shipping would have been? Thanks!
Yes! I’ve been posting the mock-ups I’ve made daily since July and now I add in templates I’ve created for sales & giveaways! Yes, if I offer free shipping the price is raised in total. So if an item is 15$ but shipping is 4$ the item is 19$ with free shipping. :)
@@itsheatherstudio Thanks! Have you found the higher price to be a turn off for people since they see a higher price and are less likely to click to your product? Seems like it might be. But you said that Etsy seems to prefer free shipping?
Something strange going on here she talks about her esty store but not once has she shown us her store or link to it I think she is only on here to build up her TH-cam channel
@@irepairapples She addressed why she does not show it in a prior video's comment section. She had legal issues with people copying her designs and, therefore, does not share her page name anymore which is totally understandable.
I have just heard two other Etsy’s experts talk about how bringing sales from outside of Etsy does not improve your quality score, and that it doesn’t matter if you post on social media or not because they say the quality score is based on the organic searches and sales “within” Etsy. One of those experts works for one of the bigger search engines research sites that people always go to to research Etsy Products And they say what you should pay attention to in your statistics is the Etsy Search results percentage …..not the amount of traffic that’s coming from outside of Etsy… Although it can create a sale for you, it apparently doesn’t matter to your quality score so I’m really confused on all this about bringing outside traffic from Etsy’s and posting on social media. Right now, I’d rather be building up my shop than worry about marketing because I’m still in the building phase and I’ve still yet to hit 100 products in both of my shop. Also, I have another side hustle. It started as an Etsy shop and I’m already on the front page of the search results for that with multiple products of mine. I just think people are not in the season of buying that particular product… I have always found the marketing part to be extremely overwhelming with the amount of tick-tock‘s and Instagram reels. I would have to do every day just to be seen… And because I’m in the building phase right now, it’s just not important to me… What’s important to me or the people that are actually going on Etsy to purchase right now so my shop needs to have as many products as possible. I would rather build it up to 1st and then later worry about social media marketing. Also, I am starting to believe what they say is true in thinking that the best reason to market yourself on social media is if you’re trying to drive traffic to your own website for people to purchase versus Etsy because of that factor and another factor of someone getting distracted by someone else’s listing, and buying someone else’s product instead of yours… And they say it all comes down to the actual sale and nothing more than that so basically they’re saying that people following your shop is not what increases your score or boost …..people liking your products doesn’t boost you in the algorithms it’s the actual sale that truly matters to Etsy And this would make sense because how many times I’ve seen a best seller’s badge but fuck someone only has like 20 products in the whole shop and maybe they’ve only had like 100 sales. I understand how Etsy’s has their rules each month that start over but still I don’t understand how someone that only has like 20 cells can be considered a best seller ? Best seller for the month but what about the people that are truly best sellers that have sold that product thousands of times over the last five years but maybe just because they didn’t sell enough for the actual month they don’t get the badge . And actually a video on this would be great cause it’s all confusing still LOL😁

I have just heard two other Etsy’s experts talk about how bringing sales from outside of Etsy does not improve your quality score, and that it doesn’t matter if you post on social media or not because they say the quality score is based on the organic searches and sales “within” Etsy.
One of those experts works for one of the bigger search engines research sites that people always go to to research Etsy Products
And they say what you should pay attention to in your statistics is the Etsy Search results percentage …..not the amount of traffic that’s coming from outside of Etsy…
Although it can create a sale for you, it apparently doesn’t matter to your quality score so I’m really confused on all this about bringing outside traffic from Etsy’s and posting on social media.
I just think people are not in the season of buying that particular product…
I have always found the marketing part to be extremely overwhelming with the amount of tick-tock‘s and Instagram reels. I would have to do every day just to be seen… And because I’m in the building phase right now, it’s just not important to me… What’s important to me or the people that are actually going on Etsy to purchase right now so my shop needs to have as many products as possible.
I would rather build it up to 1st and then later worry about social media marketing.
Also, I am starting to believe what they say is true in thinking that the best reason to market yourself on social media is if you’re trying to drive traffic to your own website for people to purchase versus Etsy because of that factor and another factor of someone getting distracted by someone else’s listing, and buying someone else’s product instead of yours…
And they say it all comes down to the actual sale and nothing more than that so basically they’re saying that people following your shop is not what increases your score or boost …..people liking your products doesn’t boost you in the algorithms it’s the actual sale that truly matters to Etsy
And this would make sense because how many times I’ve seen a best seller’s badge but fuck someone only has like 20 products in the whole shop and maybe they’ve only had like 100 sales.
OMG. Just try out the strategies and see what works for you and stop expecting everything to be spoon fed. Many strategies have worked.

👆I have been struggling so hard to get even a single sale on my shop since the past few months, until I went to visit the site above. Now I'm always happy since I've been getting sales frequently on my shop.
