I agree Susan. In the early days of eBay sellers could. But, they took the ability away years ago. In my opinion, the entire feedback system is outdated and almost irrelevant these days.
I have sold on Ebay for 9 years, and never had a scam experience. However, I recently opened a second store. I got a scam with the first item I listed. Since my score was low in the new store, they thought I would be an easy mark. NOT!
I had someone try to scam me with the gift card and emailing method. I’m so frustrated because this is my first item I’m selling. I’m just trying to pay my bills 🤦🏾♀️
they tell you they will send you money on cash app and that it is sending and it will never send to your actual cash app it will go to your email from a fake email that pretends to be cash app and send you a fake payment and ask you to get 2 100 dollar gift cards and send them the code and right after that you’ll get your money back and everything but really they would just block you and keep the 200 you sent them
Hi Justin thanks for all the good info, you have really helped me out with my eBay business. My first scam was a buyer threatening a negative feedback if I didn’t do a partial refund of 5 to 10 dollars. I asked for photos of the item and they gave me an excuse why they couldn’t, so I insisted they open a return through eBay. They left me a pretty nasty negative, and never opened a return. I called eBay and they removed it within just a few minutes and I blocked the buyer. Thanks again for all the great videos.
feedback extortion is a THING on eBay and you can report it without any problem as soon as you get it, they will shut that buyer down and you keep your money. easy peasy. There is no penalty for calling eBay, you can call them for anything at all, even to ask about a rule you should already know from when you signed up. :0)
I sold on ebay in 2016 and had no negative issues, so I thought I'd give it another go (Oct. 2022). I listed 26 items and quickly became uneasy with some of the changes. #1) ebay now requires my checking account routing/acct. numbers. They claim (to make payment deposits and of course, the ability to withdraw fees, etc. #2) through the community board I'm now seeing ebay will AUTOMATICALLY REFUND the buyer (when they claim damage, not as described, etc..) before the buyer even starts to send the item back. In fact, they have up to 30 days to do so! **If they already have their money immediately returned, what is their incentive to return my item to me? NONE. Within the same week I just pulled all my listings, minus the couple that are now selling with bids and buy it now. I'd feel better taking my items to the pawn shop (or give it away) than to be fuc*$# by some low life piece of s%*#.
And they never return the item. And eBay will side with the buyer every time. Nobody should sell on eBay. You can take all the pictures you want of you preparing the item, mailing the item. It means nothing to them.
Thank you for your video. I am new to selling on Ebay. 1 month into my Ebay journey. At the beginning when I opened my account and listed my first items, I was bombarded with scammers. It was obvious! The fake accounts and whatnot. I ignored the offers. Then I got a legitimate offer because the buyer had recent positive reviews. That transaction went well. Today I got an offer, the buyer opened an account 3 weeks, no reviews from anyone as a buyer or seller, but on top of their profile it says 13 positive reviews. If its true that they have 13 reviews, why aren't they visible? Why can't I see these "positive reviews" are these ratings fabricated by the account holder? There's no image picture either.
I found you today because someone pulled #4 on me. They didn't say it was empty. They said the end of the package was open and USPS delivered it that way. Learned a few new ones from you as well, thanks.
Sorry to hear that happened to you. It happened to me as well a few weeks back. If it really happened (which did in my case) the post office usually will provide documentation such as a letter stating that the package was damaged in transit. Plus, the tracking info on the package will normally show "damaged package" as well. If you can get this info, it helps as evidence if you have to file an insurance claim to get reimbursed. Also, if you haven't done so already it may be worth your time calling eBay to see what you're options are. Sometimes they'll reimburse sellers in good faith, plus, you can report the buyer. I hope this helps. ~ Justin
@@CoachCommerce Yeah, that’s what I thought USPS would do. They didn’t, so the buyer just third time suck me into replacing or refunding. I did talk to ebay. I told to buyer to open a case for missing and so far it’s been crickets!
One of the biggest scammers was Ebay itself, a buyer opened a case of not receiving when tracking showed still enroute within 2 days. Ebay closed the case and refunded the buyer within 1 day. A dispute was opened - ebay says we will reply within 3 days. They never replied. Also when buyer tries to say item does not work, ebay will refund the buyer the full amount including the shipping they paid and charge you also for the return postage. The heavy monitor worked fine when received back which I paid over $28 shipping both ways - back then. Reporting the buyer for false claims did not result in anything from Ebay. So anyone else is just an amateur compared to Ebay. Amazon is no better, they refund a buyer before they had them even try to return the item.
Had a buyer request a refund, and somehow they changed the physical delivery address to to a different address in the same city. Ebays tracking only shows that it is delivered to the right city. You have to check with the post office to find out it's a different address. Currently fighting ebay over this since they believe that the address can't be changed.
I just had to deal with a deadbeat bidder. Saw they had 20 positive feedback but when I clicked on their user name, the majority were non paying bids. Had to cancel two auction they bid on. Sucks that Ebay doesn't allow sellers to leave negative feedback.
Had the scam of 'Item was Broken' happen to me. Canadian buyer. Unhappy from the get-go. Tried to cancel after item was shipped but before they received it. During Pandemic shipping times were slow. Early morning of estimated arrival date (Saturday) asked for money back. Item arrived Monday. Claimed damaged in transit. Two large ceramic canisters. Looked like a sledge hammer completely broke one to dust. The other untouched. Ebay refunded them. I never did shipping to Canada again.
eBay ALWAYS sides with the buyer. If you cant afford to loose an item then dont sell it on eBay. Also trust your gut if you think the buyer looks suspicious and is shipping to a crazy, wierd address. If you are really worried about scam address, check the address on Google maps street view and check out where it is going. I once had a suspicious order for a high value Bose item that was to be shipped to a VERY odd address and it looked like a flop house in the desert on Google maps. I cancled the order, deleted the item and relisted a few weeks later.
Thanks for the video, I started collecting vintage cold war stuff and a lot of really cool pieces come from Eastern Europe. Wanted to make sure I knew what to look out for when buying internationally where laws may be different, it's good to know ebay has a lot of built in protections.
This was really helpful, thanks. I haven't experienced any of these scams so, I hope I continue to be this lucky. If not, I've saved this video to refer to.
What about a Ebay seller with a 90% rating with a 50/50 chance of either not shipping a item out or shipping it out. The seller also doesn't respond to the best offer with any counter offers while letting it run out. The seller only messages once when I buy a item the leaves a good rating but just keeps it awaiting shipment even though I put the money in for the plush the same day. How long do I have to wait before the refund? Also I spamed messaged the person when it was going to ship in a non mean way.
That's actually a great way to gauge a potential customer, and I do it all of the time. If you're on a computer (no the app) and you click on a user's profile, you can see feedback that they've left for other sellers that they have purchased from. If I have a potential customer that messages me with a lot of weird questions I go to their feedback left. If they leave a lot of negative feedback, I block them and wait for the next customer to come along.
It used to be that eBay separated the buys and sells from an account so that a buyer could see what was happening. Now, it’s a lot more difficult as they’re mixed together. Some guys I’ve found buy lots of small items costing a buck or a bit more. They get great reviews. But mixed in are reviews of sales, which are much worse. It can be hard to tell as they often have more buys than sales so that it doesn’t look as though they have a lot of poor reviews on sales. People have to be careful to read these, but they just skim. Most people are trusting. I’ve got over 1,000 feedbacks (as a buyer, I dont sell) at 100%. People I know try to be honest. It’s just a small percentage, generally. Though, I’ve read in a number of articles that a large number of art, jewelry, collectibles and such are indeed fake. I never buy that sort of thing so I’ve not been affected. But I know people who have been.
Add up this one just happened to me yesterday the buyer got the item Feb.25 and yesterday she filed for a return saying there's part glued on in my LV Bag but when she ot it her message was she 's so happy and satisfied. So this is I could say that "buyer will use the item in an occasion or an event and after that will return" I've watched a video the a jacket used on a party then return after using after 30 days there's a lot of BS on Ebay sorry to say. this buyer returned an item 2 days before the 30 days period return haissst.
Great video. Thanks for the info. Got a question, when looking at sold items to get a comp to sell an item like it. I see items that only have 1 bid or no bids. Is that legit?? Or how do you know for sure? Thanks for your help.
only things i buy on ebay are collectibles like movies magazines comic books figures etc, ive never had any issues, only thing i really had was it saying delivered but it was just the post office not bringing it to my house otherwise i always ask the seller a ton of questions before hand and usually always works out perfectly
Thanks for the video. I very nearly became a scam victim my very first eBay sale! The "buyer" contacted me through email and wanted my PayPal info to pay me outside of eBay. It sounded fishy so I said to go through eBay payments. Clearly they targeted me as a new seller (the "buyer" was just registered and had no reviews so my suspicions were raised).
what if someone film himself putting an item inside the box, closing it and then off camera he takes it away and put something of the same weight inside? how do you tell who is lying and who is not?
Just when I thought I knew all the ways you could get screwed on eBay, I heard a couple new ones.. along with some sound advice on how to deal. Great video brother! Another one of note for sellers: Buyer will message you after purchasing your item ( re: your item that ended on xx/xx/2022 - showing the gallery picture of the respective listing ) - complaining that something is wrong with the item and try to coerce you into a refund, even if just partial from a very similar account name to the actual buyer, but it will not be the same account. I've noticed it in the past and told them to contact me from the actual buyer's account and I'd respond accordingly. Also don't let a buyer con you into a refund without showing proof of the defect or sending the item back to you. I just got a sh*tty neg feedback from a dude who refused to return it or even show a picture. He instead insisted I take his word for it and not inconvenience him with the return process. Because scammers are unrelenting and ALWAYS on duty!
Thanks for the kind words Jerry! Also, thanks for sharing that tip as well. I've never had that happen, but it's good to know for the future. I'm sure someone will eventually try to pull it on me. Overall, eBay's a great marketplace, but just like anything else, there's always bad apples out there. I'm sorry to hear that you had troubles with a buyer and that they left you a negative feedback. It may be worth trying to appeal. I've had some success in the past with getting negative feedback removed in similar situations. Best of luck, and thanks for sharing! ~ Justin
I'm a victim of broken item scam and the victim was saying that 2 buttons on a gaming wheel weren't reassignable even though that isn't a feature of the product.
I think the biggest scam on eBay are the shipping costs. How many times have I seen a 10 dollar item with a 20 dollar ( or more ) shipping charge ,,, too many. What the hell ever happened to using the cheap and reliable United States Postal Service? I've used the U.S.P.S. many times with no absurd charges and no trouble.
I think this is a full price for an item 30, just in two part = 10 for item and 20 for postage / or 30 dollars for item and free postage, but price still same
A friend of mine sold an action figure on eBay, the buyer then disputed the transaction saying the package was empty. eBay then took the payment from the seller and called it even
I imprint my merchandise with an invisible trademark (visible under a black light) and inform the scammer of such if he tries a switch. It has always stopped them.
I got scammed as a seller on eBay. Currently going through it right now. eBay didn't allow me to have profit off my item and wanted to charge the buyer extra fees for the refund. Please wish us me and the buyer luck!
Thanks for the information about these scams. I'm currently new to eBay and have been selling some music equipment that I'm no longer using. My next step is to start figuring out what to buy so I can keep making money on eBay.
Great info thanks! Can you please do I video on doing your taxes and all the steps involved? I've watched a couple but they're bad and differ quite a bit. The way you explain everything- I trust the information would be thorough and helpful! Ih, and correct...
Thanks so much for the compliment! I'm by no means a tax professional, but I have done taxes for years as a reseller. The main this really is just making sure that you are keeping track of all of your expenses. The better the records you keep, the more you can deduct come tax time. Personally, I use a good local CPA in my area because I'm not educated enough with tax laws to be comfortable enough to file myself. That being said, I'll try to put together a video on my processes. Also, if you're looking for a good reselling youtuber that is also a CPA, check out Mark Tew (he goes by Not Your Dad's CPA). He's always on point and has great content on his channel. I hope this helps! ~ Justin
I had something similar happen to me, someone used the credit card of another person and their home address to open an account on ebay. They purchased my item and while it was in transit they redirected the package to a different address. Now the person who had their identity stolen has filed a dispute with their bank and ebay is investigating. I called them and they told me not to worry, if the bank wins I will still be protected under seller's protection, and they will pay the bank and me. There's no way for that to happen the item sold for $8,300 so they'll have to payout $17,000 total. Does anyone have experience with this kind of scam and how it's resolved by ebay?
Curious, I’m extremely new and my the 2nd item I’ve sold (not very expensive $40 Graphics card) shows delivered through USPS. It does show it was MISSENT but then shows delivered again. Then 7 days after they put in a not received claim and want a refund. Is my only option (if I want to keep a good rating) to refund and file a claim with USPS? I mean the USPS may have delivered to the wrong address and the person may have kept it. I don’t want to get scammed but also don’t want to lose a good rating..
Thanks for this video both Buyers & Sellers need to know how to handle a given situation they find themselves in - this was very helpful. BUT what if you are the SELLER and eBay holds back on paying out your money from a BUYER what should you do to get that money back from eBay which happened to a SELLER who had to wait several months of backward & forwards communications with eBay and they had permanently suspended his account and had to prove he was the legal owner of an item he sold on eBay when he desperately needed that money. What would be his/her best option be in handling such a situation???
Would you pay 2 grand for a fake Gucci bag? Would you pay 15 grand for a fake Rolex watch? Well most sellers that do that comes from Africa and yet paying 15 grand for a Fake Rolex Submariner is doing a great act of charity.
Hi, I have a question about your last scam. I had a customer ask if we could change his address because he was afraid something would happen to it. We didn't because we were afraid if it was a technical issue later, however I didn't know that the seller was even allowed to do that. Can the seller change the address of the buyer?
Good question! Yes you can change the delivery address. When you're purchasing a label, look to the right of the screen where it shows your buyer's address. You should see a small blue hyperlink underneath that will say "edit." When you click it, it will open a dialogue box that will enable you to modify your customer's address. Just be careful when doing this. As I said in the video, if you modify it too much and it doesn't get delivered, eBay won't protect you. Whenever I have a buyer request to change an address I cancel the sale and have them purchase it again with the correct address. Just saves you in case things go wrong. ~ Justin
What about dropshipping on Ebay? I can't take the photos of this product or something like that. For example If I have product from Amazon and buyer wants a return, this product will go back to Amazon. What should I do when buyer sent broken item back to Amazon?
I don't know if I got scammed here, but I sold a small Transformer toy on eBay on August 20 and delivered on August 24. Today (September 21) I get a notice from eBay saying the item never arrived and eBay took my money. Thus sounds fishy to me. I tried contacting the buyer, but haven't gotten a response
Hi, I have a question... The seller kept postponing my item that I bought. They kept making excuse and then a week later on the day that I'm supposed to receive my item, I was going to initial an item not received but they provide a different tracking #. I've heard someone on TH-cam say this has happened before and most likely they will ship to themselves. If that happen. What can I do as the buyer? This person is from Alaska, and I live in mainland US.
If someone ships you an item mistakenly and your name is on the package, it's yours. You arent under obligation to pay for it. If your address but someone elses name is on the package it would be illegal to open or keep the package, call the shipping company or take it to a usps office or leave it for your mailman write on the your address area, (return to sender). Now you know.
I once had a Buyer message me through eBay that the address he gave me was the wrong one and could I send it to the correct address. This was after I'd already mailed it out. I went ahead and did a change of addressee with the post office. I don't recall how much this service cost, but the post office was able to catch it and mail it to the Buyer's correct address. Needless to say, it ate up my profit on the sale of this item. Is there something else I could have done? If I'd left it alone, would the post office have returned the package to me? Thanks.
That depends on positive reviews AND negative reviews. AND the moral integrity on the sellers w/ 100% positive feedback. Star reviews and the numbers could help visually.
I recently sold an item, packaged the correct item, the buyer took pictures of random items saying I shipped a bunch of junk. Had this happened to anyone? FedEx wouldn’t tamper with packages right?
For the past few months when someone gives me a offer on something I'm selling they tell me to text them or email them which I don't feel comfortable doing and I keep sending them messages about it and they never respond or pay for the item. I wait a whole week for them to pay but they don't. Idk what to do about it I cancelled the order. I put in the description I will NOT text you or email you. I only talk on eBay only but they act like they don't see it. It's so freaking annoying I don't do what they say because it's against eBay guildlines and I don't want my phone to get hacked or something from the buyers
I have a return for a non working item it's over 30 days the seller will issue a refund but says can't do it through ebay and wants my bank details!? I am very wary of this why would ebay return guarantee not step in here it seems suspicious to me but am I over thinking things or just cut my losses?
Say if someone was to "dropship" through ebay, and the dropshipper is forwarding customer orders to suppliers who ship the items directly to a customer, Since you can't take "personal pictures" to have good evidence for scam protection ahead of time, how would you go about protecting yourself from the false claims of scammers in that situation?
Dude! I had a guy ask me today if he could PayPal me $400 and get an apple gift card, put my item in the package and send it to his cousin for a gift. He said he would pay me for my item, shipping, inconvenience fee and the gift card. The heck?!
It is a common scam. Please do not fall for it. They will ask your email address and then they will send a fake email about order confirmation from eBay.
Hi can you explain to me if someone has asked for you to send it to a different address via a message on eBay then why would you not be covered surely eBay can see that they have asked for this to be done as long as you provide tracking to the new address?
The first time I sold on eBay I had just moved out and was making enough money that I could upgrade my camera (I am a cameraman by trade) specifically if I sold my old camera on eBay. Hearts Intertwined Photography based out of Oregon purchased my old camera which had been advertised as having a broken LCD. I used the money to upgrade cameras, still had enough for rent and food. Well somehow when they received the camera the Settings for ISO and Menuing didn't work and they filed a return. I was confused because I shot with the camera up to the day I shipped it, so I knew those functions worked. I got it back, had to pay them back and was so broke at the time I had to borrow money from my mom across the country to pay rent. Embarrassing. I didn't do anything with the item and finally a few months later got around to opening the camera up to fix it. The buyer had tried to pry open the top of the camera, severing a ribbon cable in the process, There was a ton of scrapes on the inside and it was VERY obvious it was intentionally done.
hi, what do i do if a seller ,,,,, The sender requested that we hold this package ,,,,the carrier,,,,i had a package delivered and ups took it back saying sender(seller) requested it be held,,,seller saying its ups?....i've bought alot on ebay never had something like this done
They have something also from they send say it was delivered to your address from getting tracking number but does not but when go to UPS USPS it's been delivered shipped to another address like Yonkers NYC I don't know how they do it
hi should I cancel the order if they ask me to buy gift cards as well and they said to charge me extra, they did ask and I know it's a scam because I looked online.
I just had a buyer I open an inad - said I had a counterfeit Macys sweater 😒 I left the tags on their and it literally was the same thing I posted in the item description. Sucks because I had to refund them just so my account won’t be negatively affected.
I saw a seller who had a theremin listed for $1004.88 plus $1000.00 shipping from Italy. You can buy the same thing in the US for 700.00 or less plus free shipping. Obviously no seller would think someone is stupid enough to pay these prices so I am wondering what the scam is.
I got scammed by a seller who sent me the wrong thing worth way more money than what I ordered. They acted very sorry so I shipped the cards back. Then I was out 2 shipping costs and never got what I ordered and the seller disappeared. 😮
My buyer said they never got it and I had to return the money. Tracking went all the way to NJ and then it stopped tracking. It was in their city, so I wonder if the post office didn't scan it and dropped it off and she received my box and days later when she was going to leave me feedback, saw that the tracking didn't update to "delivered." Without contacting me about it, she went straight to ebay and claimed she didn't get the box. So now i'm waiting for the tracking to update and it never did. It's lost. Either this scenario happened or someone in the post office took it. Or the box was stolen somehow. Just weird cause when ebay checks out my account, all they'll see are all my packages marked as "delivered", except for that one. And 100% great feedback ratings. So, i can't say she scammed me, but my gut was telling me otherwise. Why couldn't she just ping me and ask me about it before getting ebay involved especially when the package was nearby? Anyway...that's all. Thanks for this video!!
I waited two months for a package to arrive. Lost in mail. Notified the seller and they sent the same old tracking number. Duh like I already had to see it was not moving. Had to go to eBay to get a search for the package. It took two more weeks to get a refund.
I just got burned buy a guy that says I sent a damaged item (which I didn’t) and eBay made me refund him. I will mark all items I sell from now on and photograph the proof so when they send back the wrong item I’ll have proof it’s not mine! Any ideas how to mark it inconspicuously?
I bought a smartphone from an auction that is worth brand new exactly $159,this man had an auction and about on the 11th of September the highest bidder was me and I bought it for $51.I should have received my package around the 17th of September. The 17th it did not come so eBay told me to contact them on the 19th which will be Monday and they had that guarantee return money back policy which was making me happy.I will definitely give this man a bad feedback.I thought $51 plus $10 shipping and handling charges I thought maybe that was too good to be true so it looks like I'm not receiving and my update for shipping note on the phone shows there is no tracking and he did not ship the item when I check for updates, I think I got scammed doing this auction.eBay told me that they will refund me my money I'm not for sure if they will refund the shipping, but at least I will get the $51 back because this man was a scam.Thank you for all your information on scammers
Yesterday ebay decided not to return my saxophone to me. I am a salesperson. The buyer complained that the saxophone did not match the description. And in the end, Ebay decided to return the money to the buyer and leave the saxophone with the buyer. That is, in fact, eBay stole my thing. But I certainly won't sue. My mistake is that the buyer is from Croatia. Never sell goods to people from former socialist countries such as Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Russia, etc. I have no problems with buyers from America, Canada, Italy
Thanks for sharing your story as a caution to everyone else. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. I've been fortunate that I've never had any big returns like that when shipping internationally. eBay always steps in and refunds customers when a seller doesn't agree to the return or handle the refund in the case timeframe. I don't know if that's what happened to you or not, but it may be worth calling eBay to fight your case (if you haven't already). A lot of times they'll give you a "grace" refund once or twice a year if you find yourself in a scam like this. Also, if you haven't done so already, you can add foreign countries that you don't want to sell to on you "shipping exclusions" list. I hope this helps, and best of luck with disputing the case outcome. ~ Justin
Sorry that happened to you but please don't generalize people from different countries :( A bad person is a bad person, regardless of where they are from.
Let’s not forget the counterfeit silver Eagles these coins are being sold by sellers with very little feedback and the price is below melt value. Buyer beware
eBay is a cesspool. Now that a seller is jamming up $2000 of mine I’m extra done with it. That business is a joke. They are so hands off it’s crazy. This guy said, “I don’t have this item anymore.” But now he’s gone and uploaded tracking and ghosted me.
Let me ask you this, why do people make eBay accounts to sell something with no intentions of ever shipping it out? like what's even the point, eBay doesn't release the funds until you provide tracking and and shows item was delivered to the person, so why do they even do it?
Lolz what about when u buy from a seller on eBay pay extra high cost shipping fees and purchased the item and then the seller just runs off with your funds no issued out tracking # no shipping item out no communication on contact the seller no response or anything then Wat do you do ....?
You forgot Chinese knock-offs. Bought a Pacific Breeze sunshade worth only $60 from a $115 Amazon price. Got it and noticed no logos. Same shape but low quality materials and different mechanism. Complained to the seller. Offered me 10% return of the product. I said I want a complete refund. Agreed as long as product is returned. Sends UPS man, gave the product...now were waiting for the refund. Hope E-BAY has a very extensive return and refund policy.
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through that. eBay does have a great return and money back guarantee. On almost every product category, you're covered in full if it's within 30 days of the sale. If the seller gives you any trouble and doesn't give the refund, you can ask eBay to step in and close the return for the refund (and the seller will get penalized). I hope this helps.
I just had to dispute a charge on ebay with my credit card co. because the seller kept changing the delivery date so I couldn't cancel the order. Ebay won't help you unless your delivery date is passed by three days. The seller never sent the item. It's still sitting there waiting to send... and ebay won't help you no matter what you think. I don't want to bother with filing a police report. BTW the seller had good reviews so something is wrong with their account,
My order was shipped from California to where I live in NY and was delivered and signed for the next day in the same state it was shipped from which was California…. I contacted the seller and he thought that was weird and actually refunded me. I just don’t understand what happened my address on eBay was correct as well
Wow! I just watch a another video from 3 year ago on this topic from the other TH-camr you took this information from. Like verbatim word for word on how not to get scam. The irony! 😅
I did once a transaction of ebay, but the buyer send me money to Paypal first and contacted me through email and gave me address to send item to, what I did I contacted my papal and I told them detail about transaction and then I send the item (new expensive 300 dollar football ball I received as a gift but I didn't want it) to the seller, and no problem
i bought a phone and a scammer sent a message in horrible english that i had an address change. fortunately the seller contacted me to confirm the address.
What is best way to confirm address of buyer if it looks funny. I googled one address and a warning sign came up as a scam ebay buyer. Any other ideas?
Just make sure that the buyer'sZip code exist and to use a tracking service. In case anything goes wrong you can contact eBay and get protections. Considering you have done your part shipping the item to the buyer's exact address. Make sure to update the tracking on site for eBay.
Right now i have a item on auction on ebay and starting auction is 59.99 or best offer and right away i got a buyer who offers 110 dollars but this buyer just opened a account same day with ebay and zero feedback ofcourse can this be a scam?i have not responded.
Does taking a picture of something as you put it in the box prove anything? would it be better to verify the exact weight of the product and the weight of the product in its box with packaging materials? UPS Fedex and United States Postal Service verify the weight.
I just got a buyer send me a message saying he has been selling for 24 sum years and said he and other sellers Don't appreciate newer sellers trying to make money off shipping.. The lot I sold, he sells as well, Except I am selling in a lot just to get rid of them and is going to resell them.. Which is fine. I weighted before I put my oz's in. So I am afraid he is going to give me a bad review. I just want to cancel the order but he already paid. I responded back to his message seems he sent 3 more after that saying read my messages or read my first message... Help!!!!
The only scam i got on Ebay was a graphics card that was a lower spec than advertised. It was only $15... so I guess the seller proabably sold hundreds of these for it to be worth their time.
Sellers should definitely be able to leave negative feedback.
I think this is happening to me right now, how does this go?
they tell you they will send you money on cash app and that it is sending and it will never send to your actual cash app it will go to your email from a fake email that pretends to be cash app and send you a fake payment and ask you to get 2 100 dollar gift cards and send them the code and right after that you’ll get your money back and everything but really they would just block you and keep the 200 you sent them
@@projectcollapse1229 i think they’ll usually say they’ll send you the money and ask for a giftcard in a high amount with the package you’re selling
@@tyresethomanysrhs5403 yep just happened to me thought it was weird so just ignore it if they try and do it to you
Just happened to me on 2023 new to eBay
When you cancel like that what’s the loss? Is it like 10%?
@@horse-4598 No loss at all from what I remember. I think ebay gives them 3 days to pay and if they don't, ebay automatically cancels the auction
Hopefully more people run into this good info.
I hate bogus sellers!
I also hate bogus buyers
@@susanheaton-wright7268So true!
Me 2
Had the scam of 'Item was Broken' happen to me.
Nice! Very thorough and yes there are definitely more... it's been a year do u have an updated list?
Your video is very helpful to me, recently I have been considering buying a used laptop on ebay for the first time. Thanks for uploading these tips
I love when they say haven’t got it yet and it was delivered 3 days ago LOL 😂
Thanks for the video, I started collecting vintage cold war stuff and a lot of really cool pieces come from Eastern Europe. Wanted to make sure I knew what to look out for when buying internationally where laws may be different, it's good to know ebay has a lot of built in protections.
This was really helpful, thanks. I haven't experienced any of these scams so, I hope I continue to be this lucky. If not, I've saved this video to refer to.
Great information. Thanks

@@RebeccaQueen-ti1bk I got my item and it's a pretty old comment but cool quote.
Great info. Is there anyway to avoid scams by looking at their feedback? Or are scammers finding ways around that?
That's actually a great way to gauge a potential customer, and I do it all of the time. If you're on a computer (no the app) and you click on a user's profile, you can see feedback that they've left for other sellers that they have purchased from. If I have a potential customer that messages me with a lot of weird questions I go to their feedback left. If they leave a lot of negative feedback, I block them and wait for the next customer to come along.
@@CoachCommerce thanks. I didn’t know that. This helps a lot.
@@CoachCommerce great tip! Thanks.
So if I sent my item and someone says they didn’t receive it but I have proof it delivered then I keep the money right?
Add up this one just happened to me yesterday the buyer got the item Feb.25 and yesterday she filed for a return saying there's part glued on in my LV Bag but when she ot it her message was she 's so happy and satisfied. So this is I could say that "buyer will use the item in an occasion or an event and after that will return" I've watched a video the a jacket used on a party then return after using after 30 days there's a lot of BS on Ebay sorry to say. this buyer returned an item 2 days before the 30 days period return haissst.
Scammed 3 times in months . Close the account is all you can do .
Exactly who wins then?
Box weight

I have high shipping because I put insurance on everything to make sure that everything stays honest.
I'm a victim of broken item scam and the victim was saying that 2 buttons on a gaming wheel weren't reassignable even though that isn't a feature of the product.
Thanks really useful
I think the biggest scam on eBay are the shipping costs. How many times have I seen a 10 dollar item with a 20 dollar ( or more ) shipping charge ,,, too many. What the hell ever happened to using the cheap and reliable United States Postal Service? I've used the U.S.P.S. many times with no absurd charges and no trouble.
I think this is a full price for an item 30, just in two part = 10 for item and 20 for postage / or 30 dollars for item and free postage, but price still same
If you see that then DONT BUY. Very simple
Curious,
I’m extremely new and my the 2nd item I’ve sold (not very expensive $40 Graphics card) shows delivered through USPS.
Hi,
I have a question about your last scam.
~ Justin
Great video
What if buyer says that they havent recived an item that was sent with no tracking but has a postage receipt will ebay make me still refund it
I recently sold an item, packaged the correct item, the buyer took pictures of random items saying I shipped a bunch of junk.
Thank You.

hi should I cancel the order if they ask me to buy gift cards as well and they said to charge me extra, they did ask and I know it's a scam because I looked online.
I think that's just price gouging
I got scammed twice on ebay. Ebay sided with the scammer both times.
Ebay will not protect you like your saying. I've gotten beat as a seller
~ Justin
Sorry that happened to you but please don't generalize people from different countries :(
A bad person is a bad person, regardless of where they are from.
I bought something off of eBay and the seller took my money and ran
Let me ask you this, why do people make eBay accounts to sell something with no intentions of ever shipping it out? like what's even the point, eBay doesn't release the funds until you provide tracking and and shows item was delivered to the person, so why do they even do it?
Had a few phishing emails and forward them to eBay
I just don’t understand what happened my address on eBay was correct as well
Love the info in this video, thank you!
Thanks a lot
You're welcome Shiran!
Right now i have a item on auction on ebay and starting auction is 59.99 or best offer and right away i got a buyer who offers 110 dollars but this buyer just opened a account same day with ebay and zero feedback ofcourse can this be a scam?i have not responded.
Never sell to zero feedback unless you're ok with possibly losing money or time on it.
Does taking a picture of something as you put it in the box prove anything? would it be better to verify the exact weight of the product and the weight of the product in its box with packaging materials? UPS Fedex and United States Postal Service verify the weight.
Technically doesn't, and it was the only advice I had issues with from the video.
Help!!!!
i guess there is no protection in case you want to sell in game items
Thankyou 👍
The only scam i got on Ebay was a graphics card that was a lower spec than advertised. It was only $15... so I guess the seller proabably sold hundreds of these for it to be worth their time.
