Queendom is her song for all the underdogs and the introverted, and is also a big song for the LGBTQA+ community, she often runs around with a pride flag on stage when performing it live, and shouts things like "everyone deserves to be able to love who they want".
But it is not just about sexuality, here are some quotes from her:
"Queendom is about celebrating all the differences in us. It's about celebrating the women and the children and animals and the men also. The quiet ones and the introverts, where they can sing and be seen. It's about the shy people and the lonely people and I hope it can be a place where we can come and be lonely together and then not be lonely anymore. Queendom is a place for all of us."
"Queendom is for everyone that hasn't been respected. I'm a feminist because I’m a woman, it's as easy as that. But homosexuality was an even bigger inspiration to the song than feminism. It was after I visited Brazil and some places where I realised the political status around same sex love was really bad. I just thought to myself okay, the world sucks, so I'm going to write this song and make a new world for us."
She also said this about herself in an article from Sep 2018 when talking about Queendom (single came out in Apr 2018), as far as I know this is the first time she talked about it:
"I’m really passionate about it. Right now I have a boyfriend who’s a very "manly" man, and has more beard than anyone I’ve ever seen. But I had a girlfriend before that, who I was with for a year. I just like to enjoy what is there, and I like to explore. Just love everything around you and you’re loving yourself."

Great song and great reaction. A cool bit of info about this song: The chanting she does before the chorus lines is a chant she had been humming since her pre teen days. She always knew she wanted to find a song for it but waited until the perfect time to use it and Queendom was it! I proudly say I have a home in her Queendom!

Yea. It is happy, positive and empowering song. But message is still meaningful. And she is always passionate about her music.
Her Queendom is a place for everyone. And especially for ppl who are not welcome somewhere else.

I totally appreciate the way you are going about your Aurora journey. There is plenty of time for the live performances. It's your journey, and this is a good way to start it.

One of her happier and empowering songs :) I appreciate your aproach to this as well and that you already like her, knowing what's in store when you get to the live stuff. May I suggest The River for the next one? That's a song she made when she read that most suicides are men. It's another empowering song, but in a different way from this.

2 of my daughters and I have seen her live, May 2022. It has been years since I've been to a (I was 47 then and haven't been to a concert since my 20s) bc I went to see Alanis Morrisette and she did not sound as good live. I thought, well anyone can sound great I guess with auto tune and all the computer correction. But we went to Aurora and she sounded JUST as good live and the performance was as awesome as I expected! We met her after the show and she's just as lovely in person! We were hoping she would come back to the USA this year and were going to follow her to about 6 shows but she wasn't back 😢. Hoping she comes back soon!!!!!

Thank You!!!! Don't worry about getting to the live performances. I'm with you on her video's. They should not be sold short. They have been said that some are masterpieces. I really enjoy her video's because it gives her a chance to add a total new dimension to her music and it allows her to present her song and music in a much more creative way. Her liver performances are awesome and not to be overlooked, that is for sure but so many people push for the live performances and don't give her video's enough credit.
Aurora has take interpretive dance since she was 6yrs old. Even when she isn't "dancing" her expressiveness with her movements in a song are so graceful..even beautiful. Her body is very much part of her performances...she goes away and into another place with some of her songs. You can really see that on her live performance on "Thru the eyes of a child"......I do think that you would really enjoy "The Churchyard", "All Soft Inside", "Inhale Exhale"....Oh and her interviews show a very very interesting, blunt, charming, attentive, highly intelligenr, comical person. She is truly one of a kind an well known internationally. With a catalogue of over 1000 poems and songs...well that is the level that this phenomenom is at.

About her dancing, she took dance lessons for years before becoming a singer, and she can absolutely dance "proper" when she wants to. But she says the best dancing is what she calls "ugly" dancing, when you just let your emotions guide you.
I don't think you've done the Apple Tree music video yet. That has some "proper" choreographed dancing in it, and is a great video. She's also done some live shows with professional dancers accompanying her, and there is a lot of choreographed dancing involved. It's great to see that side of her too, but I still prefer her "ugly" dancing.

I think the anger you see in her is her "fight against the machine" face. Her fierce face.

This video is so outstanding! When you get around to checking out live versions of this song, there are lots, but I think my favorite is the one at the Loustic Sessions. I think it's just Aurora, Silja (backup singer) and Frederick on guitar, and they are fabulous.

Oh, I agree, I love the Loustic version, all of them meowing warming up their vocals and/or just playing. Yes, it's my favorite too.

Thanks for the great reaction. I've been really enjoying your Aurora journey. :D
If you react to a live performance of this song someday, I suggest the one from Loustic Sessions. It's a stripped-down acoustic version and Aurora's superb vocal shines through brilliantly.

I like "Queendom" just fine, but personally rank "Winter Bird", "The River" and "Apple Tree" higher (mentioned as they are older music videos you didn't react to yet).
Reactions are interesting, as a lot of great music (some of Auroras included) takes more than one listen to hit the spot. Some of her best songs didn't make a huge impression the first time I heard them. I guess that's some of the charm. Looking forward to the next one 😊.

I'd never really considered the fierce look before, but I believe she wrote after being disheartened by the treatment of homosexuals in other countries. I feel like maybe that look is directed at those people, as in " That's right, I said everyone's welcome, and just in case you're confused about who that means, here are some examples." It is a very happy song, always makes me smile!
