    There is an error: If you raze a card for your hand, you will discard it (and not put down as spoil). Btw nice video

    I think i heard you say once that terraforming mars was a good ngine bulder as it let you build your engine, then you got to use it.
    Are there any other games that let you do this? Do Sythe and Wingspan let you use it?
    This game looked good but yous said it ends to quickly.

      Scythe a bit, Wingspan less so. Terraforming Mars is definitely the best i've played for letting you run your engine for a while.

      @@3MBG I'm at the same point wondering which has a more satisfying engine. The games I'm looking at are Everdell, Energy Empire, and Terraforming Mars. I wonder if you would be so kind as to tell me which BASE game has a more satisfying engine and then maybe tell me which, if any, expansions take these games to the level of excellence as an engine builder. I'm aware of the Energy Empire expansion getting picked up by Grail games and wondered if you have any thoughts on that aswell.

    Loooove this game!

    If you have played both this, and Imperial settlers, which one do you prefer?

      I haven't played 51st state, and even though I prefer that theme, I chose Imperial Settlers, which is a better choice for solo play. It has a solo mode in the box and they have a campaign mode that's available for free download on the Portal website.

    • @3MBG

      51st State Master set has a solo mode in the box as well, although I've not tried it. Which is odd, because I play a lot of solo games. I think the original edition might not have had one though.
      The campaign mode for IS sounds pretty cool.

      Couldn't stand Imperial Settlers. The five round system and both individual and shared deck aspects was just no fun. This removed all issues and is wonderful.

      I'm begging you please don't use background music especially since they are usually so information dense with game rules. I firmly believe generic background music is unnecessary, distracting, and annoying.

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@user-uy1rg8td1v Nope. I've had probably 5 comments like yours in 5 years, and I've tested the format with and without music, music helps give it momentum and improves the experience for 99% of users. Its part of the format, sorry if that format doesn't suit your specific needs.

    Hey I'm a bit confused by some of the terms you use. Most of the latter stuff made perfect sense to me, but the early ones made me confused a bit. Could you do an explanation video for n00bs like me? If you already have, include it in your links?
    This is way better than the first couple of videos though

    • @NicholasSando
      @NicholasSando 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that the first weren't good.

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might do a game terminology video, not a bad idea. Its hard not to get wound up a bit in jargon, especially when seeking brevity. As saying "area control" instead of defining area control is WAY quicker.

      3 Minute Board Games
      Competitive
      Triggered the end
      Competitive
      Card draftijg
      Engine building ** (still want an in depth description of that.)
      Card drafting
      Production
      Resource
      Most of it is for n00bs like me, but it's what I noticed
      I don't play much and understood most of them but had to take two seconds to figure it out.
      Also you're very kiwi and speak quickly, that could limit your audience

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair comment. Although it would be hard to condense the content without those terms. But I will try to make them clearer in future.
      An engine builder is a game where cards interact with each other and give each other bonuses. You are trying to build an engine that delivers more and more output with each additional card added.

      3 Minute Board Games I'd love to hear your take on Sentinels of the Multiverse.

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't played Sentinels yet and don't own it. But I have had it on a long list of games to pick up. I used to play "City Of Heroes" and it's style and theme remind me heavily of that. Also, greater than games are good people and i've had excellent customer service from them.
      So, can't do immediately or in the short term, but will note it down.

      Great videos! How about Outlive?

    • @3MBG
      @3MBG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha, I nearly backed that one on Kickstarter and wish I had, but no. Don't have it. There's a video which does show our collection as current on the main page, and via my close group of friends i have access to about 200 total.
      Sadly, as there are thousands of games, i'm limited unless this takes off and we can expand the library a lot.

    Thanks for the great quick summary.
    The art looks great, but the game itself sadly doesn't seem to do anything innovative nor does it have game mechanics which intrigue me. At first glance I would skip it.
    BUT: First impression might be wrong. If there are that many expansions out there, Portal Games must be doing something right. I would give this game a spin if I had the chance to. I won't buy it just to try it out, though. Maybe I will try it out at some point in time using the software Tabletop Simulator.

      I always recommend trying before buying! So do that
