I love how most secret bosses in Sonic games can't bring Super Sonic down or even hurt him, so they're just trying to delay the inevitable or slow Sonic down until he runs out of rings.
The Core from Zero Gravity deserves more love for how underrated it is. ZG’s whole Soundtrack are full of nothing but bangers

The boss theme for Sonic Advance 3 goes so hard and nobody talks about it. I also love the “pinch” variations that the Advance series introduced, would love to see that sort of thing incorporated into the main games.
only pinch theme that I don't think works is ironically the Nonagression one, takes all the emotional parts out of the song. The Altar Emerald boss one is the best imo.
I would add “It has come to this” from secret rings. That song with the atmosphere of the fight itself is just amazing. Honestly i would add the entirety of the secret rings ost lol

Thanks for putting light on this subject. The Knight (pre-Super Sonic) and Spider (pt 2) themes were definitely unsung heroes in Frontiers, and you selected the perfect choice for Black Knight. As for me personally, I've always been drawn to the final phase bosses of '06 (Egg Wyvern, Mephiles Phase 2 , Iblis Phase 3) and Militant Missionary from Adventure. I vibe with boss themes that sound like impending doom. They feel different compared to the rest of the Sonic OSTs, as if those particular bosses are meant to be taken very seriously. Overall, great picks and I would love to see more vids like this.
I’m absolutely with you there - I nearly put Militant Missionary on the list. Same with Solaris Phase 1. There’s a real haunting sense to tracks like that. And thank you! Shall definitely consider making more! :)
@dominustv @dominustv Oh yeah, Solaris Phase 1 is phenomenal (wasn't sure if that counted in the final boss category or not). Probably the best penultimate Sonic boss theme right behind Supporting Me and the Big Arm theme from S3&K. Anything from Kobayashi is glorious. I came back here to say that I was looking through my Spotify playlists and I completely forgot to mention two more underrated favorites of mine: Blue On the Run (Secret Rings) and Orcan & Skullian (Colors). Idk how underrated they may/may not be but I wanted to throw those out there as my favorite on-rails boss fights themes.

My fav part of The core and its boss fight is how when you finaly have the chanse and use gravity dive (your one way to hurt the boss) the music stops, and DROPS as you boost, IT FEELS SO GOOD
Through the Fire is great. But I think the most underrated Crush 40 song is Fight the Knight, from the same game. That whole game has an awesome soundtrack. And I agree that Guardian: Spider is really good.
True - Fight The Knight is really damn good! There are many tracks from Black Knight that are underrated tbh!
The Core theme from Zero Gravity, Through the Fire from the Black Knight, and the Egg Dealer theme from Shadow 05, and the Egg Wizard theme from Rush Adventure, even if they don't get enough love from others, they still remain some of my favourite underrated sonic themes to this day, they just go all out so hard that it's hard not to dislike any of them, makes me miss my childhood days of playing those games 😂
the boss tracks in shadow the hedgehog I never hear because of the dialogue overwelming the music. Black bull is another example of that. That track is great
When you started off with The Core I knew I found gold. Excellent picks, there are a couple of my favourites in there (The Core included) :D
When it comes to SA2, I always hear about Live and Learn all the time, what about Supporting Me? That song got a SXSG remix and now people wanna talk about it. Supporting Me is my personal favorite boss theme

you hit a lot of my faves here looool
one that always hit for me was "Fight for My Own Way" from Adventure 1, the theme that plays when fighting Knuckles and Gamma. I see the actual fights talked about a lot for just how pathetic they are, but the music feels super overlooked for how good it is. In a similar vein, "Shut Up, Faker!" from Adventure 2, which plays during the first Sonic vs. Shadow fight in Green Forest also gets weirdly stuck in my head, I think the synth lead is just really appealing to me. For something outside of the mainline games, I've always been quite fond of the boss theme from Sonic 1 GG, it can get a bit repetitive due to it's short length, but it's just a very jazzy tune that really reminds you that Yuzo Koshiro composed for it, which could be said for most of that game's soundtrack really.

I always forget how powerful Death Egg from Sonic Battle is, thank you so much for spotlighting it.
I'm so sad that Sonic fans are divided by the dubstep that is included in the OSTs recently. I quite like the wub wubs cause it often comes with drum & bass.
Also, thank you for the love to Spider's theme in Frontiers. I always thought that track was too good to be a mini boss' theme.
I quite enjoy the dubstep in places - I’m a big fan of the Cyberspace tracks!

One thing you missed with Sonic Chaos, that "Motobug" is a Boingo-Bot called the Ladybug Boss.
Nonaggression from Advance 3 is great but Gemerl's penultimate boss theme, Alter Emerald, is also a highlight. It's also a remix from battle, being based on Holy Summit.
Superstars also has a few really good boss themes that get buried by the not-great Senoue songs such as Cyber Station Boss and Final Boss 2 (Fang's Robot).
Really wish they'd let Senoue compose more music for the Sonic series, his compositions have always been more interesting than Ohtani's...

Honestly the Metal Knuckles boss theme from Sonic Advance has absolutely no reason to go as bonkers as it does
To anyone who hasnt, please do yourself a favour and listen to the Eggman showdown in death egg theme with headphones, you need them to really feel the bass they managed to cram into the gba
(Also the vs Chaos theme is quite good for an optional oponent in the final chapter)
