  • Getting ready to tear into replacing the roof and interior requires a through and honest assessment for the restoration process. Join me on the journey as I review and decide just what is needed and how I go about it.
If you are thinking about owning a any Fordor that is not an all steel body you are going to want to subscribe and see as we take this car apart and determine the best approach for the car's future.
My 1930 Ford Model A Town Sedan has eyebrow fenders and still has an original style interior. It's certainly worn but it still is functional. I have rebuilt the driveline, suspension, and tie rods, installed a modernized Model A motor with oversized intake valves, insert bearings, and a high compression head. I also have a lightened flywheel and V8 clutch. The car comfortably cruises at 50MPH but I've had it up to 60MPH. I have also insulated and installed sound deadener which has made the car enjoyable to be in even at 90 degrees.

Looks like a great car to fix mechanically and enjoy as is. Age and wear adds character.

Good luck with this huge project. I’ve done what you are attempting. I’d start the exterior roof. 👍

Adding a seat track assembly from a later model, Ford wouldn’t be a bad idea, it can be easily concealed.

Some of the original fabric was pretty good looking, especially by today's standards. I don't know whether it's available since so many of these guys are getting out of the business. I've got a '28 Phaeton with genuine imitation leather, so I'm not studied up on it. At any rate, good luck and Merry Christmas to you and your family. I enjoy your programs very much. You certainly have the artist's eye.

1st, thanks for your channel, and thank you for taking us along on your many rides . Mr S ,you are going to have your hands full. OK, black carpet, dark gray seats, medium or light gray for panels front and back, and headliner .I just think the panels in black would be too much. But it's your car, so enjoy your project as they come. Have a great Christmas, and a outstanding new year. THX

You should keep the seat where it is most comfortable for you the driver. That's just my opinion.

Merry Christmas Ken. I do enjoy your videos and your time talking about what is going on. I think black may be kind of dark, just my thought on the subject. Also what kind of seat belts are those. If they are suppose to be like shoulder belts they don’t seem to be anchored to anything for support.
Also are you going to tackle the wood like dash and window trims? I’m hoping to do the ones in my Victoria this spring as well as adding tube shocks like you started a while ago.
Good luck on your next endeavour, looks like going to be a big one.

A Merry Christmas to you too! The seat belts are harness belts and they bolt through the floor from behind. Black is certainly darker so there is all that to consider. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel!

Do you have to get a hunting license to shoot a mo? How hairy are those mos? And how many mos do you need to skin to get enough for an interior? Hmm.
Nah, I'll stick to cloth. Much easier.
I've been missing in action for a few weeks. Watching older videos to catch up. Hope your holiday was full of family and good times. Mine was.

I had a 2dr sedan and the cloth on the roof came clear down to the drip rail....

The Tudor roof does come straight down as you mentioned. The Fordor is definitely a different animal.
