Very valuable video! Just got in as a transfer to UChicago, but was previously at a non-target and I've used info in this exact video to get an lmm m&a internship freshman year.
@@Galbra1thHey what about the university of Georgia I’ve decided to go to community college for an associates in accounting then major in finance and minor in accounting while there. Do you think I will have good chances of getting a finance job out of college?
watching from India, as a fresh year student. IB, strategy consulting, operations and SWE considered as non core in our indian college campus because it's not related what we're studying in our engineering major. everyone is crazy about Goldman Sachs JP Morgan Chase MBB or quant internship in hfts or OR in p&g types FMCG. STEM helps us to work hard and being smart among other indian (1.4B)😵 and then get a successful career in so called non core. Indian ivy league schools are known as IITs where we get the same opportunities like ivy league or CalTech MIT CMU grads got.
@@Galbra1th definitely MBB, to create a nice resume portfolio for future b school applications. Above 45 ug students got intern at Bain hope I would be among them next year. And keep helping students like us for core finance role too.
I’m trying to get into investment banking. Do you think a master of Science in Finance is the way go if I already have a bachelor in other related field and an MBA, both from a non-target. I have already been accepted into the Boston University MSF. But I am also looking to hear back from UNC, Georgetown and NYU.
I think if you already have an MBA then a MSF probably won’t hold as much weight when applying for roles. It certainly could give you a better understanding of technicals and how the business works, but seems like another big time commitment, whereas the time may be better spent growing in current role and developing adjacencies.
@@Galbra1th Thank you for your reply. And the only reason why I want to pursue an MSF is to land an internship from one of the investment banking institutions. I heard that they will not give you an internship unless you are pursuing an MBA or a MSF. So I’m hoping to land an internship while I’m enrolled and at the same time I want to deepens my understanding in finances. What would you advise or do if you were in my shoes? I understand that at the end it’s my choice but I still like to get feedback.
I think What It Takes by Steve Schwarzman was fantastic and opened my eyes to a lot. Other than that there are the classics like Liars Poker, Barbarians at The Gate, etc
Informative and clearly presented Cameron !!!!
Thanks for watching!!

Thank you for the information! As a Florida resident, this gives me a bit more hope if I don’t get into a target school
Best of luck!!
Great video. I will start differentiating myself from the thousands of other applicants who want to go into M&A at JP Morgan.
Great idea!

What are your thoughts on Fordham? I'm trying to decide between Fordham and Penn State.

Thank you :)
Gators as a non target is like saying yours salary is below 6 figures and it’s 99,990 dollars
I go to fsu 😭, things are working out, networking is a bitch tho, people just talk to you as if u don’t know anything and your 5 years old
It’s more semi target my opinion, you guys get great placement s
Will pursuing CFA help get in?
Yes it definitely gives you more of a technical pedigree. But it’s honestly not relevant to banking
It’s dam near impossible, but goodluck. The only advice they give for finance 😂
Give me some actionable steps, hands to shake???
