    I own the original Prime 4 since day 1, and it has been a great piece of equipment that keeps getting better and better. I personally will not get this Prime 4 Plus as in my position, Stems + Amazon + Bluetooth + Facelift aren't enough changes that justify spending 2200 usd. But, for anyone else that is looking to upgrade from something else or have been wanting to get the Prime 4, this is a no brainer. And keep in mind InMusic's track record of improving all EngineOs devices and EngineDJ with every upgrade for free, you will have long support for this device. Not like other brands...

    • @djcarlo
      @djcarlo  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bingo! You should be good with the Prime 4 OG if you don't need the extra bells and whistles, but for those just about to upgrade, this is a dream come true

      I can't work with things that are getting better and better.... I need them to be optimized and done when I buy them. I can accept a few bug fixes for a short while after release, but if that's not enough, it was released too early. Many of those things that has been fixed since I got the P4 was the reason I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I'm a working Dj and I can't afford gear that is still in progress to be ready for work. When I spend 1000's of $ it's because I need the gear for work the day I get it. It took me 3 months to get rid of the P4 and during that time it still wasn't ready to bring the doe in. For the money, (30% loss on a brand new...just saying) I got the much more basic used Pioneer XDJ-700/DJM-450 setup and with that one I made money from day 1. Still have it and I would probably get more money for that gear now than I payed for it, and it would take less than a week. But I won't. Praying for a XDJ-700Mk2 to be released, but it looks like it may never happen. If they do I'm gonna be the first one to order a set, you bet!

    • @GT5Player

      @@dj-peterofficial2753 Sounds like you're a conformist that does not like free stuff. Which begs the question, if you're against things that get better and better why not work with something that has been 'optimized and done' for years like turntables and mixer combo? No need for updates or anything as you get what you paid for.
      I'm a working DJ that has had for the past few years about 80 or so gigs a year, and the Prime 4 has been there for all of them. If you didn't make money with it, to me it isn't the gear... Just sayin'...

I heard that you haven't reveived your FLX10 either - but if you get your hands on one, could you make a comparison on how both softwares interact with the Stem controls on that unit? Cheers!

    • @grizeldiSLO

      @@felixkrell890 As a fresh FLX10 owner, I never knew just how much worse rekordbox stems are compared to Virtual DJ. Depending on the track, you might be able to isolate drums or vocals, but it's a gamble. Which is a shame, because I really like the workflow of using stems on the FLX10 in rekordbox and having tried using it in VirtualDJ, most more advanced stem features of the FLX10 don't seem to work (dynamically switching between traditional and stem EQ per channel, stem instant doubles...).
      I guess my only hope is that Pioneer finally stops pretending people that are willing to spend almost 2k on a controller are gonna run them on a potato craptop and finally makes a proper, more resource heavy but better sounding stem separation.

    I have a doubt!!! Her graph does not indicate the colors of low medium and high as in the serato graph??? I only see the graphic on the Denon screen all blue or green, and that worries me... The colors indicating lower, medium or high sounds on pionnier equipment help a lot and make mixing easier.
    How do I know which are the most low, medium and high sounds on the Denon screen? What color are the quietest sounds on the screen? If it were in Pionnier it would be red or orange, and that helps me a lot. This graph reading is very important, because without headphones I can get by and make good mixes

    Now you more than likely won't get anything sounding any better than what an iPhone/iPad sound separation does now (DJay Pro, etc.) after all these years. Real-time sound separation needs a lot of processing power and since it’s still has the same ol' CPU inside...well...

      @@djcarlo Truly an excellent product with surprising audio quality despite having only used mp3 at most with 320kbs, it arrived with the latest firmware 4.0 already installed for the moment I used it for only 2 days, and I immediately found it very good , I turned it on and I practically started mixing mainly using the vinyl mode but obviously without beat sync, it really seems like using vinyl, the analysis of the tracks is fast and precise and you can play the loaded track immediately, I mean while the The analysis has yet to finish (I don't know if Pioneer does it honestly) it is built surprisingly well, pleasant visual impact (but here I personally prefer the Pioneer layout a little more) the effects are many and overall they are good but they have a standard setting which is not suitable for everyone okay, in my opinion it promises the final quality of the effect itself. If they implemented a settings editor for the effects it would be fantastic, I need to delve deeper.

    Denon is really taking the apple approach to their products. With everything being a standalone product running similar versions of engine os, no matter what Denon gear you get you get a very familiar experience. With the original Prime 4 there were 3 main reasons I just couldn't have it. I did buy it but because of those 3 reasons I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I'm old in the game and some things I will not change in the way I play.
    1. I use CDJ-mode, and I set cue point's on the fly in practically every song. Does the new Prime 4 have the equivalent of Pioneers CDJ-mode. They used to on all their previous gear but with the new gen it was just gone, leaving everybody to use vinyl mode, and to set perfect cue points on the fly that mode just isn't good enough. I mean, how would you like it if they decided to skip vinyl mode... that is part of how almost everything else follows in you work flow.
    2. Hardware effects? Or are they just software based still, which means that no external devices can use the effects except the filter. Another thing with 4 ch devices is that we with tons of gear on the shelves like to hook up a couple of turntables or a couple of ancient CD-players to our main gear and just use the mixer for the clean and modern effects that never were available before. I do that frequently and I don't want to rearrange my whole DJ setup to do it.
    3. The jog wheels!!! I've never used jog wheels worse than the ones on the Prime 4. Even the ones on my first CDJ's in 1995 was better. I really don't like capacitive jog wheel on any brand of gear but those on the Prime 4 were too heavy which had the effect that the slightest push made them spin like forever and that's not wanted when a tiny speed correction was all that I needed. The jog wheel on the Pioneer DDJ-RX3 is the firs jog wheel I feel comes close to what mechanical jog wheels and behaves feel like. So, are jog wheels improved to my liking or still heavy and free spinning.
    There were a lot of other thing back then that just added to why I really didn't like the Prime 4 that I think has been sorted by updates, but on the other hand that was also one of my points back then. I don't buy gear today I need to wait years to become usable. I need gear that works out the box when I buy anything new. Can't afford a €2000 piece of gear standing in a corner for years before it's usable. ...and no, I'm not the least interested in using streaming services and Wifi wasn't yet enabled on the Prime 4 when I got it so that will never be the reason I look for an all-in-one unit. If the above 3 points were fixed I could again be interested in a Prime 4 unit, but otherwise not. Just like I will never get the Pioneer DJ OPUS-QUAD. I guess I will have to set my eyes on a future XDJ-XZ Mk2...or in the end say goodbye to an arm and a leg to get the CDJ-3000's and the A9 mixer....

    • @djcarlo
      @djcarlo  ปีที่แล้ว

      CDJ mode exists, though not in the same form as CDJs. It's more of vinyl mode on and off.
      Hardware based FX exist too, though majority of the FX run through Engine DJ, which is, I'd say, the equivalent of having hardware-based FX running through any DJM.
      Now, I'll admit the jogwheels are heavy for my scratch-oriented hands, so I wouldn't recommend the Prime 4+ for scratching, but the jogwheels are great for normal mixing if you ask me.
      Honestly Peter, if it's not your thing, just don't go for it! We all have our preferences in controllers and equipment, so find the one that best suits you

    • @dj-peterofficial2753
      @dj-peterofficial2753 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@djcarlo Oh, that's no problem at all. After 38 years in the business and still being a full time DJ I have everything I need and then some. Doesn't mean that a tech nerd like me doesn't look ahead to what's coming out and of course I would love stems on my CDJ's. If that came as an upgrade to the CDJ-3000's it would be the reason for me to upgrade from my Nexus2's. I couldn't care less about streaming and things that are online based, but stems... :) .
      But, I will raise my voice when others don't when reviewer after reviewer do not report or say anything about things that disappointed me like no other buy I've ever done. I'm pretty sure the way I play isn't unique in any way so if they read my comments, maybe they don't need to spend thousands of hard earned $'s on the wrong gear if they get the full picture before buying it. Do you actually know why DJ's like me don't ever use vinyl mode other than for effects? Do you know why the Pioneer CDJ mode is far superior to vinyl mode when you play the way I and many others do? For us it's just as essential as vinyl mode it to your way of playing. I understand that, because when I started and for ten years vinyl was the tool for me. Still do the odd vinyl set when asked to, but scratching has never been and never will be part of the way I play. I have other ways to quick mix and keep the energy high when that's required, and that's when the CDJ mode makes a difference.
      TH-cam isn't just an american thing you know. The whole world is watching your channel but there's absolutely differences in how the norm for all kind of DJ's look like and in the gear we use just between the US and Sweden. It's probably even more differences comparing other parts of the world to both the US and Sweden. But we all love a good DJ channel like yours. That we have in common.
