    Very nicely done because watching the video you get the sense of being there. And no irritating music, only ambient noises. The perfect watch waiting for my e-bike to be delivered early next year :-)

    Thank you man my dog looked like yours and just passed this last summer and getting to see you out there with your best friend is AWESOME! Sorry to hear about your dog, I hope you both made a lot of good memories and adventures in the time you both had together.
      It's a shame dogs have a short lifespan but I'm making the most of the time I have with my Naden and he's a big part of my camping experience now.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's a sensible option for any E-bike owner as it keeps the electronic components dry.
      Another bonus for me is that it is not immediately clear that an expensive E-BIKE is under the cover which aids security and as a wild/stealth camper, I need to keep those reflectors covered up.

    Love everything about this video. I am planning on adventures like this (but close to my home). I was wondering how I would get all of my camping gear on my Himiway. I also have the same RAD rack. I use a tarp and hammock setup.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The RAD rack was one of my favourite modifications, you can fit so much gear up front.
      If you have the rear rack then panniers similar to mine are the way to go. My panniers are durable, fully waterproof, light and large enough for all my camping gear.

    Burly flatbed trailers are awesome, I put 13,000 hard miles on mine. It was still functional when I retired it and built a Wike flatbed. The wike is heavier but can take up to 100 kilos. But for most people's needs the burly is an excellent choice, it's easy to pull and fairly tough with 50 kilos of cargo capacity.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, loving all the different camera angles which isn't easy to do as you're going backward and forward several times to get the right shot but in the final production it looks like you had a camera crew following you which looks really good. The view from the Castles where stunning. Looking forward to the next.

      Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad the extra effort I put in is appreciated.
      Since I'm out riding for the entire day, it's no trouble for me to stop at any random point, walk 15 metres ahead and back again as it's only a 2 minute job.
      Even I enjoy watching back the third person perspective shots because it gives me the chance to see how the bike looks and rides from someone else's viewpoint.

  • @utubeape
    @utubeape 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thats great, those castles were worth the visit.
    I go camping on my fat tire ebike to, no dog or trailer though. I have really pared down my kit in order to cope with more hills and better range. I use the bike as part of the tarp setup which also hides it, and I just have a sleeping bag inside a bivvy under the tarp. i take an eggbox style foam mat which is silver reflective and I wrap this over my food and water (when it was summer) while riding. Bulky and looks daft but works
    Your paniers are like the tardis, I can't seem to carry that much.
    Its a great shame there is no solar panel trickle charging device to extend range

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for commenting.
      I am aiming to shed some weight and gear for next year. My motor copes well on hills when the bike is fully loaded but the battery life suffers as a consequence.
      I do like your reflective foam solution to keep your food and water cool. You might have inspired me to make a insulated sleeve for my bottle sometime in the near future 👍🏻

    Great video and many thanks for sharing. Could you tell me where you got the front rack from please?

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻
      I bought the front rack from a company called Rad Power Bikes for around £60 (€70).
      The rack is not made for my bike so I had to widen the factory drilled holes a few millimetres.
      It is mounted directly to my bike's head tube so it doesn't move when turning the handlebars. This was important for me because it doesn't affect performance and your gear is stable during the ride.
      The carrying capacity is rated at 10 kilos.
      I think this rack is a pricey but practical addition to my bike. It's well made and the flat and wide design gives you the potential to stow extra gear unobstructed from the sides and has plenty of attatchment points for bungee cord fixing.

    • @michaelthorpe9593
      @michaelthorpe9593 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheNorthOutdoorsUK Thank you. I think it always worth investing the money for a quality product that meets your needs. I went with a couple of sus fork carriers from Topeak that can accommodate up to 5k each that put the weight lower, BUT they are held on by supplied cable ties and you have to buy suitable small waterproof bags as well. I may be being pessimistic but I can't see cable ties lasting much longer than a year so I will be looking at the Rad rack as an alternative I think.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK
      @TheNorthOutdoorsUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked in to fork mounted carriers before opting for the front rack.
      I didn't know topeak used cable ties to secure the carriers, I would also be a bit wary of them breaking.
      The Ortlieb branded fork carriers use rubber coated metal pipe clips which seem like they give a good solid grip to the forks but I do like that on my front rack I keep my gear dry and I have more space to carry a multitude of items.

    • @TheNorthOutdoorsUK

      My bike handles just fine and I hardly break a sweat during my rides, perhaps due to the fat tyres offering more stability and the generous load capacity. I understand your point however and I'm sure your setup suits your riding style but I'm never in any rush to get to my destination and appreciate having the luxuries as well as the essentials on these rides.
