Beautifully done; both the actual tour and the video. I am a mountain junkie when it comes to bike packing/touring but at 72 years old I can see the potential pleasure of Denmark and may head up that way after the summer tourist season is done. Many thanks for sharing this.
Glad you liked it! 😊 I have a soft spot for mountains myself, but have to admit that it’s usually a bit more relaxing riding in Denmark than the mountains of Norway. I do miss having the possibility of putting up my tent anywhere I want like we can in Norway. Happy riding!
How delightful to stumble upon this video. It’s really not my kind of thing… Sadly. But I love Denmark and I’m always looking for news and history items. The idea of biking across the country sounds appealing. But i’m too old for that. I love the images and your wonderful narrative added extra life. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together and post it. And the dog looks delightful. Greetings from Los Angeles!

Det var hyggeligt at høre du kunne lide filmen, tak for det! 😊 Jeg har allerede været et par gange på cykeltur i DK siden efteråret og har en film der venter på at blive redigeret. God sommer!
Thank you for a wonderfully calm and peaceful video. It looked like you had a great time on the bikes, just like it should be! The old railway paths look fantastic for cycling, wish we had more of them here in the UK.
Real pleasure to watch. Love the setup of the film with you narrating the trip as the clips are rolling along. Also I live in Denmark and it's really inspiring to se it through the eyes of a foreigner .
Pleasure to see your videos. They are so full of calm gratitude and simple joy. As a father of two daughters and a bicycle enthusiast, I hope one day to have a trip like that, being able to ride with a graceful young woman and remembering all the trips we made when this young woman was just a little kid. Thanks for your channel. Glede til deg og din familie. :)
Nice and calm video ❤. Next time you come by, you can sleep on the beach in Denmark, you just can't pitch a tent or stay for more than 24 hour. So if you tarp camp and only stay 1 night you will be good
Beautiful work. Many thanks. I toured around around Horsens, in mid eastern Jutland, which I found interesting, although much less dramatic than the north west Jutland coast and the heaths as seen in the film The Promised Land (aka Bastarden in Danish). I, too, was repulsed by Denmark's intensive warehouse-based livestock farming. I was struck by the lack of birdsong in Danish woodland: is this due to the escaped mink? 25 million were put down during the Covid pandemic as it crossed species, supposedly. Many have escaped and live in the wild, where they are efficient killers. I wonder whether what you saw in the water was a mink, not an otter.
It could potentially been a mink, but it looked bigger than mink I’ve seen before and the otter is known to be breeding in the area. The mink can wreck havoc in bird colonies along the coast, but I don’t think they affect woodland birds much. Woodland patches with more or less older deciduous trees can be pretty rich with respect to bird life, but the plantations are the opposite.
I’ve been watching and sharing your videos with friends and family. The editing, your choice of music and narrative are all wonderful. As others have noted, calming and peaceful. I’d also add inspiring. I also tour with my bicycle, but so far only overnight trips lasting two days. Your videos have me thinking about longer trips. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for the kind words, really appreciated! 😊🙏 There’s a certain joy to longer trips, but I also love the short trips you can squeeze in between all the obligations of modern life 😊
And your right, Banjo is a great companion on trips (and it sure was way easier cycling through Denmark with him than in the Norwegian mountains last summer 😄).
That "thin sliver of grass between the bike path and road" is a WHOLE lot more than you'll get in the USA. And it will be massive Ford F250s pick up trucks passing you at 50 mph. Norway really looks fabulous in comparison to Denmark, but maybe gets old if it's your home? The eastern side of the USA does have lots of removed rail trail too, similar to what you're showing in Denmark. Thanks for sharing.
I’m half danish so have been riding across Denmark quite a few times to visit family. Riding in Norway is a different beast compared to Denmark. In many places the roads are narrow, twisting and steep and often with a minuscule road shoulder or none, so I’m all too familiar with riding on nerve racking roads. I guess Denmark is great for its bike friendliness and long beaches while Norway has its vast forests and mountains. I’ll have them both if I can 😄

I really like your videos and the way you make your bike trips a story one likes to listen to. I would still have a question, if I may: The saffdlebag look really nice. Which one do you use? Best, Bernd
Happy to hear you enjoy the movies! 😊🙏🏻 The saddlebags we use are the Carradice Long Flap Campers. They work very well as a handlebar bag with a front rack too.
Amazing video! Reminds me of cycling in Denmark with my parents and brothers in 2019. Also, I’d like to ask whether a bike setup video would be something possible?
Glad you liked it, thanks! 😊 I might do a bike setup movie at one point. Trouble is, I kinda have a new setup each time I head out the door 😆 I guess I might have to make a couple of them 😄
I discovered your trip through the "Carradice" bag that caught my attention. I travel, but with more sun, I live in Spain. I wanted to ask for information, the straight handlebar of one of the bikes, (N) is it Nitto? If it is Nitto or another model, please tell me the size and setback in degrees. Another request, I have tried to carry the Carradice bag and some small panniers in front like you do, and I just don't feel comfortable with the handlebar heavily loaded with weight, how do you feel "riding" with so much weight in front? I appreciate your response.
The handlebars are the 750mm version of the Nitto for Shred bars. You can read more about them here: global.bluelug.com/nitto-for-shred-bar-silver.html 😊 Before I mounted them on the bike I used to have Nitto dirt drop bars on the bike, but they didn’t provide enough leverage to muscle big panniers and the Carradice bag in the front and Banjo in the rear. The wide Nitto for Shred bars solved that. Absolutely recommend them in the wide version if you want to carry a lot in the front. You might know this, but it’s crucial that the front panniers are placed in a way (fore or aft) that minimizes the effect on the steering. Too far in front of the fork (or behind) will have a big impact on how the panniers affects the steering. The narrower the handlebar, the more pronounced the effect is.

This was back in 2021, not 2023, and I agree, we felt a bit out of luck with the wind compared to what we usually encounter (I think we have cycled across Denmark six or seven times). I believe I mention that it was in 2021 in the very beginning of the movie, but I can understand your confusion if you thought it was 2023 😊 We haven’t been further west than Løgstør yet as these trips also function as a transport to Copenhagen to visit family and we are often a bit limited on time in spring or autumn. The west coast sure is tempting, though. I have been winter bikepacking a few times along the west coast between Slettestrand, Løkken and Skagen. Good times.
