When will it be available for consumers? This is several years old now and we have no way to buy it (that I've found).

    "It feels stiff right?"
    "It feels dry and crunchy!"
    "What about here?"
    "Oh! It's really soft!"

I was interested in that too, so I googled it. It breaks down into potassium acrylate and acrylamide. Acrylamide is a neurotoxin and also causes cancer. But hydrogel in itself is nontoxic so it is marketed as environmentally friendly and used as soil conditioner to help retain water. But they don't tell you it poisons your soil, thus, the environment when it breaks down.

Is it eco friendly or do we end up with toxic film filled land fill sites? Because two wrongs does not make a right.

can I use the hydrogel beads like orbeez?

    • @surunitemiakanni-oye4346

They were first created for agricultural purposes to improve the harvests of failed crops by allowing the plant roots to obtain water from high absorbent water beads. Orbeez are made of sodium polyacrylate, which is a polymer chain, composed of acrylic acid monomers
