      Hybrids were uncool only in mainstream media mindset brains… Everyone using their brain understand that hybrids are optimal tech for now and TOYOTA is very wise developing this technology up to perfection!

    The eAxle on the rear of this hybrid, which is seen at 0:31, is the same 80kW eAxle which Toyota recently fitted in the rear of the new bZ4X.

    Miss the v6...this an electric 48v "turbo" supercharger? If it's a regular one, how do you keep it oiled when the engine shuts off?

    • @CrazyWeeMonkey
      @CrazyWeeMonkey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's common for modern turbocharged engines to have an electric oil pump cut the turbo that stay running for a bit of time after the engine shuts off, it likely uses one of those.

    How is the gas engine incorporated? If it's a stop/start unit, heat soaking the turbo several times per trip might not be the best, compared with naturally aspirated engines.

    • @freddykruger6194

      Id be interested to see how long the turbos last. If i pull off the highway in my hybrid highlander, the engine shuts off, no cooldown period. Im in canada so the thermal cycling is intense

    • @drewthompson7457
      @drewthompson7457 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@freddykruger6194 : thanks for the reply. Does yours have an electric water pump? That would at least help control the heat soaking, being able to push some coolant around after the gas engine quits. I should look into this.

    It is unacceptable to use this engine on SUV cars, and the reason is that large-sized cars require great torque and long life. Is Toyota ready to last for a long time with a four-cylinder engine?

    So if you wanted to build a drift car, you could use the motor in the front to generate power for the electric motor in the back, but have the front clutch disengaged. Put this in an 86 please. With the drift button that disengages the front motor, but keeps it running to charge the back motor. And give it 310 hp electric motor in the rear. Manual would be nice with a clutch.

  • @geirvinje2556
    @geirvinje2556 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice, so now you need service on the engine, AND turbo.
    The bonus is also, that there are more tings that can break.
    Turbo, electronics back and in the front, the engine, and the gears.
    What about just have some moving parts, and just electric motors....
    Ups! That's a Tesla, sorry.
