My first contact with this lovely hybrid synth module - Novation PEAK!

Recorded directly to Tascam DR-05X in 24bit/96Khz WAV format without any audio processing.
Novation Peak specifications:
- 8 voice polyphonic (voice modes available unison etc.)
- Per voice: 3 oscillators, 1 noise generator, 1 ring modulator, 2 LFOs, 1 Amp envelope, 2 mod envelopes, 1 Filter
- Oscilator waveforms: Sine, tri, sawtooth, square / pulse plus 17 wavetables of 5 waveforms per row
- Mono-Timbral
- 5 Voice Modes - Mono, MonoLG, Mono2, Poly, Poly2
- 42 Control knobs, 8 35mm Sliders, 1 Volume knob, 2 Data encode
- Filter: 1x State variable OTA filter per voice, 12/24dB slope, Low-pass / band-pass / high-pass, Pre-filter overdrive, Post-filter distortion
- Effects: Analogue distortion, Chorus - 3 types, Delay with 16 types of delay sync (LP and HP damping, slew and stereo), Reverb - 3 types
- Arpeggiator w/ key latch - 33 patterns
- Patch storage - up to 512 on hardware (ships with 256 factory patches)
- Glide

i got one last night and there's a preset called "pin tweaks" where you press one key and it plays the intro to laura palmers theme. i didn't know it before, but that's exactly what I needed in my life.
Didn't hear a bad sound out of it.....this is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for doing this.
I ended up getting a hydrasynth instead which I still enjoy very much, but not gonna lie these presets blow hydrasynth's presets out of the water. The much better reverb is easy to notice as well.
600 Euro saved for this so far!!

Nice sound palette on this unit. Factory presets sound really nice. I especially like the synth bass.

I think that Peak is very good solution if you want 3 Osc/8 Poly VCF synth. Korg Prologue 8 could be the option.
@@vukhan Thanks for the suggestion, I did look into the Korg indeed.
I have read / heard you more likely need the 16 because it uses up voices quite fast.
Not sure if that is true, but that is what I read.

Getting rid of all of my behringer synths except the TD3MO and getting this
PEAK has very good sound/money ration. But, it's hybrid synth with digital oscillators "sounds analog".

Kinda sounds like Navation took the presets from Ultranova and MiniNova and put them in the peak, however this sythersizor is capable of alot more.

You know I have the Access virus ti2 desktop and I like how this sounds I rather have this than the virus ti2 vary nice
I have the Ti-1 desktop and they both pack a mean punch. I will never get rid of my virus, but might have to pic this up sometime.
I use also Virus TI 1 and TI 2. Both are amazing.

Does the Summit have the same presets?
I don't know :(
No I own both some Summit presets use voices stacked and two filters you can afford to stack two voices on every sound you make provided you don't want to use both synths so some presets wont work on the Peak.
Do you know of any guitarist using this synth with the Roland GR-20 or any other device that converts guitar to MIDI? Thanks.
no. sorry.
There is a new plugin that does that cant remember the name. Reason 12 has that function but it's part of its pitch editor. Vocals are registered to notes on the sythersizor but you can play any sound into it and then you can copy the notes from pitch correction.

Hydrasynth sounds thin and cold when you compare selfmade patches and without FX + the Knobs on Hydra are really cheap and get dirty after 2 days - have fun and don't touch the knobs on the top too often on the hydra. thank me l8r
@@errorkitI would say both Synths sound really good. (Can judge the Peak only by videos on TH-cam) and don't want to join a discussion about individual taste.
But I can say that after using the hydrasynth explorer for many months, nearly on a daily basis, the knobs look still fine. I think they are for the price of the synth of really good quality.
@@AngMoKio8 you should try the peak for a week. had both synths, and as a PianoPlayer I was in love with the Hydrakeybed - as you said, matter if taste, but the Oomph of the Peak is sth different than just Low Frequencies or Vintage Fizzle. Try it - you won't regret. For me personally, the Hydra Soundengine's Character remindes me of actual VSTs also the behaviour of Filter and FX - the Peak is just the Peak, and I'm not the only one who felt that.
The Knob Issue will happen, sooner or later, has nothing to so with dirty Fingers or bad Quality Knobs - its the Texture which welcomes that Issue.
Sounds nothing like Hydrasynth
Some of Peaks components are real analogue so not over priced.
