I've questioned how good a pellet grill really is and always felt that offsets were superior as far as the everyday non-professional smoker. I want the convenience of the pellet, extremely busy schedule, but the flavor of of an offset like I use now. I also want a dependable, well-constructed unit that's as much American products as possible. Based on what I see in the reviews and videos, Lone Star has come up with a gold medal product. We will be ordering the 20 x 36 unit. What really sold me was the fact this also can burn LSG wood chips also

Watching this as I sit next to my LSG 20x42 offset with a 9lb pork butt smoking away.
I saw the prototype pellet in action when I picked up my offset last year. It’s a real beast. Bet it weighs 500lbs or more. Chris is a true master of his craft and he’s doubtless spent years getting this pellet smoker to operate and be reliable enough to carry the LSG name.
Anyone that has ever owned an LSG product will tell you Chris, his company and their products are second to none.
Congrats getting it to market. Look forward to in action vids!

I agree. I've had the 20x36 LSG for a year and a half now and the quality of craftsmanship is second to none. While there are many premium custom built pits available on the market, none have better fit and finish than the LSG's. IMO

Two question and a bit of feedback. First the questions.....are there tie down points for traveling with this on a utility or enclosed trailer? If no....its something that should be added IMO. IF I get one, id go off road tires and would like the ability to take it to motorcycle rallies . And....is there any concern of the pellet lid blowing off in high winds? Im here in west texas and the winds can rip sometimes....not having a latch for the lid seems like an oversight. And now the last bit of feedback: Maybe a standard /smaller version lonestar grillz logo for those that don't do the custom logo for their name or BBQ team. I REALLY like this design and considering saving up for this model. I was eyeing the camp chef....but this heavy duty option is WAY more durable from what I can tell.

I just recently stumbled across this company, and from what I can tell your products are best in class, period.
If I could justify the cost of a pellet smoker (which is great for convenience... but my Fireboard and a blower fan kind of gives me that already) but doesn't produce good smoke flavor compared to others, etc, this would be my pick.
I'd love to have one of your offsets, and I could afford it, but:
    1. You can't get a tractor trailer up the hill I live on, which complicates delivery
    2. I don't really have a place to put it without getting rid of a bunch of the lady of the house's stuff (and I want to live)

Although I see good, new features in these cookers, I don't see anything very different. . . . .in the pellet burning process. . . .than my 4-year old Traeger. Are you guys making the claim that these units deliver better smoke flavor than other pellet cookers? And if so, how is it done?

Def a good looking unit and almost, I said almost, a carbon copy of a Yoder. I would like to see this with the off road tire package you mentioned, hopefully in a video soon.

A carbon copy of Yoder except for much thicker steel, all welded (no silicone) contruction, better paint, a much better location for the stack, a better location for the burn pot that probably yields more even heat and definitely allows easier ash removal, a much bigger pellet hopper, much sturdier legs, a spot for a water pan, slide out lower shelf, charcoal option, easier access searing system, cold smoke . . .

So, 15 days since the announcement and still no one has one? I hear a lot about being number 300+ on the wait list. What gives? When are these getting into peoples’ back yards so we can see some cooks?

They just went into production last week. Just be patient, once people start getting their hands on them, there will be videos put out on them.

Uhh, the opening line of the video stated the ‘release’ of the pellet grills. That would be for sale, right? Or are you saying released to manufacturing? Why would I care about that? Still waiting........zzzzzzzzzz. 3 weeks and counting

Would really like more information about the controller and does it function as a PID controller or will there be temperature swings and if there is what is the range. The controller is the heart of any pellet smoker IMO.
    Update
Went to lone star grillz web site and it is a PID controller, I’m currently 310 on the waiting list!

Doesn't the pellet pot get full of grease when you direct grill with the pellet pot ? How does that affect the igniter ?

    • @Mr2004MCSS
      @Mr2004MCSS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

This is my question also. I would think that this would either cause a grease fire or put the fire out somehow.

@@Mr2004MCSSmost similar bbqs are this design i have a lousiana grillz and what happens is you get a small grease fire however thats if you keep a fatty piece there for long. if you flip it etc its pretty good but doesnt get dirty

Wonder how the fire pot not being in the middle will affect temperature evenness across the grates?

Very informative video covering a ton of high-quality information. Unfortunately the camera work made me nauseous. Buy a an American-made tripod.
