Same. It's not even that my fps is THAT low in rivals but it's not smooth and it's not 144 so for me it just ends up not being fun. Nothing more frustrating for me in an fps game than stuttering and missing shots because of it. As well as not being able to see what's going on properly because of how unsmooth it is. But OW is also unfun for me rn but in other ways so I've just had to play other things altogether.

I would think that people don’t want to deal with having such an experience. Especially not in competitive, and even in non competitive, you want a fair playing field. I've played competitive games since halo3 and I've played plenty of games that weren't completely polished but was still a beautiful mess. Like skyrim for example. Marvel Rivals has some issue's but the game is fun. The game barely launched and a few months to fix isn't a issue compared to a game like overwatch that's been feeding it's fan base dog shyte for years and that game is wayyyy more optimized.
During the beta I was actually able to run it without any stuttering. All of a sudden when the game released, i get 60-70 for a moment then it drops to 40-30 with stuttering. Completely destroys my ability to secure kills, time ultimates, etc

I play this on PS5 Pro and there's 100% a setting for 120fps (if you have a VRR compatible display). So this should work on consoles too, theoretically
ik this is kinda off topic, but they really messed the game up after the recent update. my pc used to run it very well at a consistent 90 fps, and the update came and it was good for a lil bit, but then it started stuttering all the time and my fps would drop to less than 10 in spawn, and just today my pc just has not stopped crashing when i boot marvel rivals up. rlly hope they fix this next update.

Ngl they gotta optimise this game fr with a lotta ppl having old gen gpus its pretty difficult i have a 1650ti laptop which pushes like 90 fps in the lowest settings possible but that too is not consistent i got fed up of playing it in that state so i went ro ow2 which works pretty well but definitely i feel bad for not being able to play rivals cuz its so much fun than ow2 i wish they could optimise it for old gen gpus too 🙏🏾

Is the key to the problem that the client framerate is lower than the server tickrate? So the server misses the last "frame/tick" because the client hasn't updated in the last 1/60 (or whatever update rate the server runs at) seconds? Both examples, despite being different, definitely seems like a very small difference relative to the >60fps scenarios for distance traveled
While they're at it they might as well fix the performance, the optimization on this game is so horrendous and the fact that you have to use upscallers to get a semi decent comp experience is just embarrassing.
i think many people are missunderstanding the point (mostly because of missing information on this video). this also happens on 30, 60, 90, 120, 160 fps, different and inconsistent on each "breakpoint".
On one side they're wizards for coding the strange tp, on the other they mess up something so fundamental like the delta time? Even chat gpt gives you delta adjusted code without asking for it..
I currently have 2 ps5s in the same room with my brother and hes been talking about this for days that he was playing a charecter that felt nerfed all of a sudden. For me i havent had any issues so we knew it wasnt wifi related. Now it all makes sense
How about we make the game run at a stable 60 fps on PC first? I've seen so many people struggling to make the game even remotely playable, that I believe it's urgent for them to capitalize on their popularity, and make sure as many people keep playing as possible. If anything, the *real* disadvantage is between controller players and m&k players. AND BEFORE YOU GO ON ABOUT "aIm AsSisT", m&k players have every advantage under the sun including a whoooole aaah arm to aim with vs one single thumb. More buttons, better tech performing, etc. Look at BF4 on PC. If you're a controller player, you're literally out of options and at the complete mercy of m&k players.
I've noticed this a lot when using cloak, after ulting and my frames drop with so much happening in a teamfight my Damage tick sounds slow way down and people just... dont die

People are really trying to overcomplicate the topic... delta time within the context of frames, networking etc is the time between one "frame" to the next... you for example take time received MINUS time sent and you have your delta time. (frametime is delta time for example.. how long it took for your frame to be rendered compared to the last frame). It has nothing to do with lag compensation etc. In this case we are either talking INPUT POLLING RATE or FRAMERATE depending on what the game uses to push it's gamestate forward, and deltas are usually fractions... e.g take your calculator and enter 1/60, you end up with 0.016666 etc... meaning 16.6 milliseconds... running rock solid at 60fps this will more than likely be your delta time. This issue comes down to higher value delta times causing precision errors... i.e running physics steps at 10hz you are going to end up with a different result at 60hz as they are going to affect acceleration, friction etc differently as you are getting unintended overshoot etc (e.g you designed your physics to be optimal at 30hz or over). In the case of abilities you are running them in durations and then performing actions during this duration in set time intervals.... if your delta time is larger than an interval you end up with lost actions. (to be clear, you do not want to use TIME for these kinds of things... but most game developers of today still do this for whatever reason). e.g you run an action at 50hz... but your on 40fps (i.e 40hz) ending up with a 5ms differential or delta, resulting in one or several actions not being performed as they are outside of the duration. Fixing this is less of an issue as it has nothing to do with the engine and is simply a game logic thing... Outside of not relying on small deltas/timers you can either run them on a separate thread with input and networking (which unreal engine supports natively but most developers do not use... don't ask me why)... or perform all the missing information inside of a loop by simply dividing the entire delta time and performing physics, input etc for each division.
I tested Dr.Strange based on that tweet and looked at 30fps intervals. Bassed on that the maximum strange movement on his flight jump isn't reached until 200FPS! I only have a 240hz monitor but 210 and 240 fps went the same distance and everything below that had noticeably less horizontal movement. That is not good at all!
That's how third person works... the characters aren't in the center of your screen they off to the left hence why you should be aiming right to center your aim

There's a 120 fps on consoles for compatible displays, I did the same magick test you did in the video at both modes on ps5 and it seemed to travel the same distance and did the same damage in both occasions. Maybe this os a specific issue to 30 fps mode on pc? No idea.
Im on PS5 and always turn off cross-platform play. Every time I load up on my friend's team that doesn't turn it off, we get absolutely smashed, I tell him to turn it off and all of a sudden our matches are competitive but winnable.

Every other player in every match is always either Hawkeye, Dr. Strange or Magik. That ain’t right in my opinion because those characters were designed by the game devs to be OP unless you team up against them.
Ive seen the issue youre talking about, but showcased on wolverine by Supertf. You just do less DPS on low fps. But the beginning clip is not a good showcase, you were 1 foot short on the 30fps charge then proceeded to uncap your fps and then move 1-2 feet foward from the initial position and were surprised when the charge landed?
Competition modes should not allow for different graphics settings. For instance, lo-res mode on Fortnite is a major advantage against others (on consoles or who want to see the beautiful rendering) who can’t or don’t lower their resolution. Competitive should just choose the frame rate, determine if shadows must be there, etc. and say you must use this settings to play competitive, just like a game can set the minimum threshold for even booting a game. If your PC can’t handle it, then upgrade your kit or stick to non-competitive.
I'll be perfectly honest with you I have a 2:40 Hertz monitor and with this game it is dropping down to 140 every time I use my ultimate so it's not my PC it's them they need to fix this
This is worse on spiderman. His swings are slower on lower fps and his movement is everything about him. Netease has to put a 60 fps cap on the game until this is fixed
Say what you will about OW, no one can say the coding is bad. This could cause the games downfall to happen much sooner than it would have otherwise. I think EA knows this and that’s why they aren’t going after a more competitive aspect.
Rivals has an absolute SHIT game engine. It may be Unreal 5 but it's not being utilized right. Even with an RTX 4090 the game studders like shit. A shit game engine makes a shit game. If a game does not run fluid it's not a good game end of story. Overwatch in the 6v6 format beats the shit out of this game. This is the REASON I've called Rivals a shit game.
Console can hit 120 fps with correct monitor. Well, if you are on console and haven't been selecting "console only" in quick play you had better start. At least, I assume, competitive is all console
Don't you get a high imput latency with v-sync and windowed mode active? Even when I am on the optimal settings I can feel some kind of imput delay inherent to the game so I can't imagine the experience with non-optimal settings... Nvidia Frameview allows you to see the imput latency, which is the time between the phyisical click and the screen response (as far as I'm aware). You might find it way easier to aim with lower imput latency.
The amount of work to fix it greatly depends on the implementation. It could range from a quick edit of a few lines, or even just one line, up to a MASSIVE rewrite of a huge chunk of the codebase.... From an outside perspective of someone that hasn't looked at the code itself but knows how this stuff works: Flip a coin.
Every single video on this site talking about this I see someone (Often multiple people) saying "It's a relatively easy fix": this is wrong as this conclusion relies on assumption. What I posted above is accurate. The ease of the fix is unknown and absolutely can range from easy to a nightmare scenario to fix.
I don't think competitive is platform specific because I've been in games with people who have the scarlet spider skin. And that scared is playstation exclusive

While yeah this is not great and they should fix it, let be honest for sec, having 150 more fps than someone playing the game at 36 fps on their GTX 1050 laptop is a way way way bigger advantage than 1 or 2 meters of dash range

I get 120fps for OW, but I get 40fps on Rivals. On console it seems smoother so hopefully it's 60fps st least

Now we know why MR isn’t trying to make their game be competitively focused. That would be terrible with problems like this.

There's a 120 fps on consoles for compatible displays, I did the same magick test you did in the video at both modes on ps5 and it seemed to travel the same distance and did the same damage in both occasions. Maybe this os a specific issue to 30 fps mode on pc? No idea.

Im on PS5 and always turn off cross-platform play. Every time I load up on my friend's team that doesn't turn it off, we get absolutely smashed, I tell him to turn it off and all of a sudden our matches are competitive but winnable.

the crosshair is character based. it makes sense for a 3rd person shooter. unless theres a different issue youre tal;king about?

@@Rootz2000it’s not “janky” it’s realistic if your frame of reference or your eyesight was not first person but instead third person over the shoulder, you would have to look a little right because even though your looking a little right your character is looking directly at them, but we don’t care if you can look around corners and they can’t see you, it’s only when it’s about aim you cry. That’s the difference between first and third person don’t like it? Overwatch is right around the corner

Day 1 of telling sty to make another video repsonding to all the comments on his video about the currencies its a clickbait video and frankly the purple currency has to be bought by choice and at point if your buying the currency I think every player expects to spend them on what they want in the BP right away if it expires its on you its the same basic concept with food it isnt a scam to sell me food that with be no good later albeit the currency isnt food but thats not the point the only thing they did wrong was not verbally paste that info for everyone to see I think the video is a bit blown out of proportion and everyone in the comments thinks so

The series X and PS5 allow a 60fps graphics and a 120fps mode sty so it affects them too. I thought I was going too good

Every other player in every match is always either Hawkeye, Dr. Strange or Magik. That ain’t right in my opinion because those characters were designed by the game devs to be OP unless you team up against them.

Ive seen the issue youre talking about, but showcased on wolverine by Supertf. You just do less DPS on low fps. But the beginning clip is not a good showcase, you were 1 foot short on the 30fps charge then proceeded to uncap your fps and then move 1-2 feet foward from the initial position and were surprised when the charge landed?
Competition modes should not allow for different graphics settings. For instance, lo-res mode on Fortnite is a major advantage against others (on consoles or who want to see the beautiful rendering) who can’t or don’t lower their resolution. Competitive should just choose the frame rate, determine if shadows must be there, etc. and say you must use this settings to play competitive, just like a game can set the minimum threshold for even booting a game. If your PC can’t handle it, then upgrade your kit or stick to non-competitive.
I'll be perfectly honest with you I have a 2:40 Hertz monitor and with this game it is dropping down to 140 every time I use my ultimate so it's not my PC it's them they need to fix this

This is worse on spiderman. His swings are slower on lower fps and his movement is everything about him. Netease has to put a 60 fps cap on the game until this is fixed

Say what you will about OW, no one can say the coding is bad. This could cause the games downfall to happen much sooner than it would have otherwise. I think EA knows this and that’s why they aren’t going after a more competitive aspect.
Rivals has an absolute SHIT game engine. It may be Unreal 5 but it's not being utilized right. Even with an RTX 4090 the game studders like shit. A shit game engine makes a shit game. If a game does not run fluid it's not a good game end of story. Overwatch in the 6v6 format beats the shit out of this game. This is the REASON I've called Rivals a shit game.

Even when I am on the optimal settings I can feel some kind of imput delay inherent to the game so I can't imagine the experience with non-optimal settings...
Nvidia Frameview allows you to see the imput latency, which is the time between the phyisical click and the screen response (as far as I'm aware). You might find it way easier to aim with lower imput latency.

4:45 Console players have up to 120fps. So yes, it would be 120fps vs 60fps console players.
Also their is Crossplay. Meaning Console have a Disadvantage as a Whole as Most Consoles are still locked at 60 FPS.
The amount of work to fix it greatly depends on the implementation. It could range from a quick edit of a few lines, or even just one line, up to a MASSIVE rewrite of a huge chunk of the codebase.... From an outside perspective of someone that hasn't looked at the code itself but knows how this stuff works: Flip a coin.
Every single video on this site talking about this I see someone (Often multiple people) saying "It's a relatively easy fix": this is wrong as this conclusion relies on assumption. What I posted above is accurate. The ease of the fix is unknown and absolutely can range from easy to a nightmare scenario to fix.

While yeah this is not great and they should fix it, let be honest for sec, having 150 more fps than someone playing the game at 36 fps on their GTX 1050 laptop is a way way way bigger advantage than 1 or 2 meters of dash range

@@lilywong9672 Not with 6v6 on OW2 it's not. Rivals plays like dogshit on a computer that shouldn't have an issue, and that is enough to ruin the experience entirely for me. Add in how OW2 6v6 just plays better overall and is more satisfying to get plays in, and OW2 is the better game, at least 6v6. I don't want anything to do with 5v5 Overwatch, and I never did.

Any plans for vod reviews of any sort like in OW? I have seen a bunch of quickplay games with full 6 stack bots / ai playing. I dont know if it is a hacker problem, or bots in the games purposely, but either way it is way to common in quickplay. I have seen at least 3 games now like this, reported everyone and not getting notice that action was taken like I have with others. All their profiles are private, are these put in by the developers?
