- Hi guys this is channel f&D in this video I'm going to show you guys how to recover data from deleted or lost partition. Normally when a partition gets deleted all the data in it is gone for sure but using a software called test disk you can recover the data from the lost partition. Test disk is a command line tool so you have to use commands inside this software. you can download test disk from the below link. There is no other way that you can use to recover files from deleted partition

Hi .. from 2024 here....
I used the damin windows creation tool. My external was 1T (with data). After using that tool it become (ESD-USB 32 GB FAT 32, PRIMARY PARTITION) and besid it (899.51GB UNLOCATED). if i use this video can i have my data again . Please help me
After I analyze the drive it says: Partition: Read error. This the 3rd recovery software I've used. About to format the thing and cry myself to sleep. It's a 1T Seagate external. No visible damage or accidents. Just crashed while playing an emulator from it.

@@danielhlw Unfortunately no... I got a suggestion on Reddit to take the thing apart and try recovery via a SATA connection, but I've been too busy to try it. I just bought another external until I have time to do it.

Saved my bacon. Like an idiot I left an 8tb hd hooked up while installing windows 10 and deleted the wrong drive partition and immediately stopped as I knew it was still recoverable if I didnt continue to make it worse. Did not use the Intel/PC partition option as that didnt work the first attempts. The second EFi GPT one worked for my particular hard drive as that is what it was formatted in I believe

how do you 'reboot' an external drive? Ive done all the testdisk procedures but when I unplug and plug in again the external drive partitoon still deleted.

2020 here. Thanks a lot my guy, this saved my 1tb of files! For anyone still confused, choose the default partition table type, my WD external HDD was EFI GPT. You can see the "hint" below the table type for this. After analyzing, since my HDD is only for storage, it only shows P=primary and D=deleted as partition characteristics. I chose P, and went with the rest of this tutorial. After rebooting my PC, i load up my WD discovery and, viola!

Hi There.!! Facing same issue with my WD External HDD. Like urs, the hint shows the partition table type as EFI GPT. When i try to analyse, it takes quite long (only 20% completed in about 8 hours!!!).
Mind you, my hard disk is 2TB & has less than 500 GB data.!! How long did it take for you to complete analysis!? I know its 2 yrs but if at all u remember.!!

I get this error message after pressing quick search " the harddisk seems too small! Check the harddisk size: HD jumper settings, BIOS detection. The follwing partition can't be recovered: HPFS - NTFS". If I press continue I get 4 HPFS - NTFS and 2 fat 32 partitions, how should I know which to recover?
Although it shows up in diskmanager under "unallocated drive". Tips on how to solve? It's a 1TB drive with 500gb files on it? nvm you can list files by pressing "p"

@@dhanajon5528 press enter and several partitions will show up. then you look for which parition has the files you want to recover

Hi, back again on the same HDD... Unfortunately, now I've to fix an unallocated external hard drive error (full of my personal , non-backuped, data) and I don't want to lose that data (I saved 2wks ago!!), do you have any suggestion? (right now I don't have another 1Tb USB drive to store my data :(

Subscribe to a cloud drive for 1 month on 1TB plan.
Upload your failing hard disk data to the cloud drive.
Then proceed to buy a new drive within the month and download the data into the new drive.

Ur a fucking legend mate, accidentaly formated wrong partition ( external hdd disk for files )during w10 install, and this worked like a charm, everything is intact, file names,directories,everything is just as it was before :)
Didn't work for me. It found the name of my partition, but after a reboot nothing had changed and many errors in the log file like this: "file_pread(5,2,buffer,390733088(243201/143/15)) lseek err Invalid argument"

My problem is that it's frequent and reversible i.e Sometimes my Hard Drive (partitions) are normal working but sometimes my whole computer seems to be laggy and after restart, the HARD DRIVE Partitions are gone. Again, they come back after not-fixed no. of restarts.
As of May 2021, this still works. Thank you so much! I didn’t have to spend money to recovery it.
It asked to reboot pc, when I proceed it opened with "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+delete" message.. when I pressed ctrl+alt+delete screen came with same message... please help how to fix it....

Works like a charm to this day, thanks a ton! Just a tip for people: look up the differences between a logical and primary partition, it could be different. Long story short: the C drive is the primary partition, any other partition is probably a logical partition

How do you find if you had a NTFS partition called A, then mistakenly format it, then created another NTFS partition called B, but didn't write anything to disk after then. I just want to find the contents inside the old partition A. Testdisk can't find it?

only one change, when connecting an external disk, you have to select P, instead of L in the last step.

I tried this with Test Disk, Version 7.1, and an old, Samsung 1 terabyte hard drive.
Test Disk just gave me an error message, which read: Partition write error.
Your video would be easier to follow if you said, "Select Quick Search," instead of "hit enter." That is just confusing! I have to look at the screen and guess at the option you selected.

I installed a new samsung ssd in my computer and migrated my old hdd windows in it then my old c drive from hdd became another empty partition which converted to logical drive and to make it primary partition i followed one youtube video which showed to clean disk with diskpart and i did that blindly which caused me a trouble .... my all 4 partitions from that 1 TB hdd are vanished and in disk management its shows 931GB single Primary Partition with RAW file system ... Can i recover that data and partitions by this method from my 1TB hdd ?

I did the same on my hard drive and was able to recover 2 partition but one partition is coming as access denied while showing healthy (Logical drive) in disk manager! Any solution for it?
Right click on the drive and click on add drive letter

Jan 2022 here, this works 100%, I accidentally deleted the volume of my external hdd with windows 10's disk manager. Used Intel (Default) and (P) Primary for external storage only drive.

Before I got to the Logical and primary things when I clicked on quick search it took like 30 minutes of searching just to display "Not found" and I was never able to get to that screen, when I tried on other working drivers it worked perfectly, What could be the problem?

Thank you for the informative video. I accidentally "cleaned" a VERY IMPORTANT drive/partition in diskpart and immediately realized it before doing any further commands. Following your tutorial on this software (aside from P structure instead of L since my cleaned partition was a Primary) everything worked like a charm. After rebooting I didn't even have to do anything further as my drive and all folders showed up and associated immediately with all file paths.

You have 50 or less than 50% chance of recovering your data as you have overwritten it. Follow the instructions in the video

Awesome video bro! This saved my life haha! I accidentally deleted the single partition on my FAT32 formatted thumb drive. I used testdisk-7.2.win64 on windows 11 and it worked! (even though the README didn't state that it will work on windows 11)

My disk goes from like 01% and then jumps to 364801/364800: 99%... what do I do? I'm unable to proceed. It even disappears and I have to restart my computer if I X out of the program.

Hello, test disk does not detect the correct size of the HD. It says it is 128GB when it is 1TB.
After pressing deeper search do I wait for the analyse cylinder to reach 100%?
