I never worry about a blade for eating because I always have a knife on me, especially while doing outdoor stuff. Some with a fork really. You just need something pokey. A good spoon is really all you need.
Honestly more tempted to put this in my own lunch box for work! Having a nice Lil non threatening knife and a multipurpose spoon in one sounds great! Right now I have an Opinel for cutting or spreading stuff, which works good, but this would work even better
Ok I admit, 8 inches is pretty long, but I don't think it needs to be THAT long to get the job done. I was told that 5 or 6 inches is perfectly adequate too.
Seems a really good alternative if you need something ultralight. But if you already bring a decent knife (Multitool? etc.) it seems superfluous. I also think a plain blade, as opposed to serrated, would be a more versatile choice. Maybe even a blunt-nosed butter knife?
G'day Aaron, pretty good multiuse item I'd say, very light and cant get much more compact than that. Dont even think about a plastic knife of any description. Man, I refuse to offer those even at a low key BBQ. ........ dont start me on paper plates ; ) Moving on ; ) always good to have a backup ferro rod and a long handled spork for those dehydrated/freeze dried meals is an absolute must IMO, its either that or cut down the bag. In any case, you cant cut down a tall mug or pot. Incidentally, I've been using an Opinel No. 10 as a steak/meat knife, sure it aint serrated, but if kept "sharp", doesn't matter, (I'd argue even better), and does a shipload of other LD things for you also, ......... like make a spoon, fork or spatula for example ; ). Yes that all takes time, though if you're into "crafting bushes", nice thing to do by the campfire, (perhaps waiting for a meal to cook) and of course you dictate the form factor. Ok, you don't get the ferro rod, but you do get a very good spine as a scraper ; ) Very light weight too and I think I paid under 30 knicker AUD, (around 20 odd USD max), for it from memory and for us L-to XL hands dudes, stepping up to a No, 10 makes all the difference IMO. I gave away the 8 & 9 ; ) As predominately a hard blade user.... never thought I'd be spruiking the benefits of an Opinel ; ) Anyway, take it or leave it, just thought I'd chuck in some extra ideas to achieve much the same goal. Cheers Duke.

New subscriber! Love these reviews, I’m more of titanium spork guy. I see you reviewed Rovyvon recently, i love them. I got a suggestion for you, LEDlenser P9R core LEP. I guarantee you will be surprised as I was.
@@gideonstactical Thank you! They will have a limited run of them, so I hope you get one. It’s more advanced technology for flashlights than seen with common brands. This is bit pricey since it uses lenses and new tech called laser excited phosphor. Basically you get 1300m throw light out of 500 lumens and it has a function to switch to flood light also. With price tags of 350 bucks it’s not for everyone but I hope you can review it as a technology demonstrator and push other companies to follow! Please I really hope you check it out.
Totally cool product. I don't know how you keep finding this stuff. I'll have to order some for gifts. Not a fan of serrated knives for my own use. Is there enough steel in the knife to grind away the serrations and give it an edge?
It makes me wonder how strongly the knife/handle are wedged together. I can see that being a problem when using the total length to lift/flip a steak or burger.
@@gideonstactical Mmm yes but I did notice you tore the top off yours so alo couldn't reseal it. I always take a a larger sealable bag such as a freezer bag for all my rubbish ( trash ) to go in anyway as it keeps it seperate. But true once sliced open no resealing available.
I just carve all my eating utensils from sticks. Takes very little time or effort, saves weight, and it's one less thing to have to clean. But mostly I just don't bring food that requires cooking. Living off jerky and nuts for a few days has never been a big deal to me.
so i purchased it using the link from this video description and received it today...personally i DON'T think this is a very good product... - the worst aspect of it is the great difficulty in trying to remove/withdraw the knife section from the integrated handle... i let everyone in my household have a go at it, along a friend of mine, and some couldn't accomplish this at all... only my pal and i could but only with pretty much all of our strength and it was not a very safe endeavor... the knife would finally clear free of its 'sheath' but without much control so it would be possible to cause a cutting/slashing type of an injury if not performed with forethought of this fact... i get it that there needs to be a level of retention between the knife and the housing but this is ludicrous... apparently my example differs from the one in this video based on how seemingly easily this is done on this video... - next, the knife's blade seems to have a darker protective coating [against rust?...but it's supposed to be stainless steel so why coat it at all?] on it and that concerns me with using it for food...the knife section on this video doesn't seem to have any on the blade unless it already completely wore off... - the blade itself is thin and flimsy, also on a dull side despite the serrations... - i would not call this spork an ultralight... - lastly, the ferro rod effortlessly popped right out of its handle when i tried to spark it... maybe my item is a lemon but i'm not confident in this brand's quality as a result... imo, a much better and practical alternative is a long ti spoon paired simply with one's own bushcraft/edc knife, even a victorinox sak or a multitool's blade will work better... which is what my set up has been for a long time and will remain so... i don't need a fork most of the time and the fork function of sporks is inadequate anyway... if one needs a fork, an actual ti fork which weighs almost nothing will be a far superior option... i tried to use the prime membership return option but the closest drop off box for this item was strangely 14 miles away from my location, in bronx nyc or an option to drop it off at the local ups hub... both options are too far for comfort for me and it's strange because the few times i needed to return any items i've ordered from amazon, the local drop off box is always at my local staples, less than 1 mile from me... consequently i'll just keep it and eat the $17 it cost me but it's a useless item for me...
Thank you for the detailed comment and your experience. I’m sorry that model seem to have some issues for you. As you saw the video much better on my version , and several other peoples comments have stated that they had great results and saw the same results I did. I would highly encourage you to, get a return label or take it into any ups store so you can get your money back.

It's an improved Ka-Bar spork of similar design.
Improved? seems weaker

Side topic, what are your favorite freeze dried meals? Best brand? Thanks and good little video.

No, it’s just for food prep. It’s your last quite a long time if you just cutting meat.
It makes me wonder how strongly the knife/handle are wedged together. I can see that being a problem when using the total length to lift/flip a steak or burger.
Seems to really, really well built and secure
amazing, also can you Please review the 5 In 1 Stainless Combo Spoon, Fork, Knife, Bottle Opener and Can Opener, for less than 10 dollars?
I will check it out
I managed to find online (Chinese of course) 100% accurate repro of WW2 US kfs in titanium that spoon is an eating shovel and weighs almost nothing
Very nice!
OMG that's awesome I'm going to get 4 of them what coolers do they come in ? 😂😅
Orange and green currently check the link and you’ll see it.
Why would they not make the back of the spine of the knife 90 degrees?🤦♂️
Does it remain 9 inches in cold temperatures?
Definitely 😆
I have a few of these. Underestimate the knife at your peril.
Don't need a long utensil when you can rehydrate your meal and then use your SAK scissors and cut the excess of the bag off the top.
But then you can’t reseal it and becomes nasty to transport if you are having to pack out.
@@gideonstactical Mmm yes but I did notice you tore the top off yours so alo couldn't reseal it.

@@alexpervanoglu7420 I did tear it but I always keep the seal for just that reason. Big ziplok bag is a must to pack out trash and not mess you pack.
@@gideonstactical I'm a pig and eat all mine in one go and actually lick the bag clean. Disgraceful I know. Anyway happy hiking.
I'm just not into sporks. I prefer the combination one piece non detachable spoon on one end with a fork on the other end with no sharp edges.
I am personally not a fan of serrated steak knives. I prefer straight edge if they made this that way it would be the best for me.
