Toy Story was one of the first movies I saw in the theaters, and was headed to college the summer Toy Story 3 came out, so that ending of Toy Story 3 really hit me hard and pulled on my heartstrings
Toy Story 2 and 4 are left. I don’t dislike 4, but the original version was better than what we got, with the story being about finding Bo Peep, and other differences like Woody not being ignored by Bonnie, no Forky, Buzz not questioning his existence, and Bo returning with Woody to Bonnie’s house
@@radien239That's exactly why Thaiboy said it would've worked as a side story, we could've had the 3 we eventually got as 4 but in the end people wouldn't miss much skipping this version of Toy Story 3
I think the most interesting aspect of this unmade film, is that it would’ve been the 2nd time a human in the Toy Story universe would discover the toys being alive and sentient (the first being Sid from the first film). Still the actual Toy Story 3 that eventually got released, was good enough for me and kinda book ended the entire arc for Woody, Buzz, and the gang. That’s why I never even thought about checking out the 4th installment.
@@SickIncKamikazeYeah I re edited that claim. And yes I did remember that part in the first movie where Woody and the rest of Sid’s toys got their revenge by traumatizing Sid, for what should be the rest of his adolescent life.
Who would’ve thought that we could’ve had a solid story? But, would the quality of the animation be the same? If they had moved forward, could we tell the difference? It is truly annoying to hear how Disney wants to have absolute, or near total control over a product
There are some good ideas in the unmade Toy Story 3. I do get the vibe that this could have been a decent tv series if Disney ever went that route with Circle 7.
The Circle 7 version sounds like it could've been fun and alright, but at the same time, I'm glad we got the version we got instead, as it was a perfect finale to the trilogy....well, until the fourth film came out that is. That being said, I do have somewhat of a headcanon that this unmade film still happened, but in between the second film and the actual third film we got.
While I admit Circle 7’s Toy Story 3 story idea would’ve been interesting to see if they went through with it, kudos to Disney shareholders knowing what they had with Pixar and kicked out Eisner and replaced him with Iger. It’s truly fascinating to think how the decisions of Eisner and Jobs lead the way to the Bob Iger era and Disney purchasing Pixar.
It's also interesting that this Toy Story 3 finale (namely the part where Buzz gets caught in the smasher, gets new parts replaced by his friends, and not remember them as he is "rebooted"... Only to go back to his old self due to an emtional trigger) is *very* similar to Wall-E's...
I wonder if they will include a human knowing that toys are alive and directly speaking to them in a future movie. That’s the one really wild idea in this script, but it also feels like it changes the tone of the series in ways that can’t be undone.
As much as I loved the Toy Story 3 we got, I would have loved to see this one too. It's a shame it got canned. :( I still remember when the Circle 7 version was first announced being in development. Time really flies.
I don't think the Circle Seven version of Toy Story 3 would have been successful considering as described in the video Andy's toys would have acted out of character. It seems jarring to hear Woody and the other toys would have jumped Buzz and shipped him to the factory against his will. Also having the conflict resolved in a big battle also strayed away from the other two movies, which although featuring adventurous situations they did their best in avoiding violence as a resolution to the conflicts.
I think the underlying issue with the period after the Disney renaissance was they were trying to make films like Dreamworks (for the preteen and teen demographic) while under the Disney name. Kids who grew up during the Disney renaissance were aging out of Disney demographic and didn't want to be associated with the mostly G rated namesake (while parents didn't see the new films as kid friendly). Pixar provided that "new brand" for the teens who didn't want to be associated with kids movies while also provided content that kids could also enjoy.
@@Bulletsandblockbusters that’s awesome! I don’t know about any of your other viewers, but I would enjoy it if you made a video giving an overview of some of them 👍

Nice video Bullets & Blockbusters. I have heard about Circle Seven Animation and how Disney tried to make direct-to-video sequels to Pixar films without their involvement. Thankfully, that never happened. But the story behind it is fascinating as you look at the concept arts and story ideas for their canceled projects. Personally, I would have loved to see these films get made. But I'm glad that Pixar was able to take back control of their films. Speaking about Pixar, can you do a What Could Have Been video about their canceled film "Newt"? It was about a male and a female blue-footed newt who were forced together by science to save their endangered species, but they both didn't like each other. It got canceled because its plot was too similar to Blue Sky Studios' animated film "Rio" (2011). Its production got replaced with Inside Out (2015).
"Disney threatened to make sequels" - in hindsight, it was a very scary threat, like which companies would want to be associated with half of the movies Disney released lately, and pretty much any of the sequels
The Circle 7 version actually doesn’t sound bad. It’d actually be awesome to see Taipei animated in the film. If they had done it right, it could’ve been a good movie. Obviously I’m still glad we got the Toy Story 3 we got. Maybe Circle 7’s version would have made a better Toy Story 4
I liked how the original plot gave Buzz a meaningful storyline as, despite how good the 3 we got was, it really struggled to give Buzz something to do.
This is one of the rare what could’ve beens that’s actually not that bad. It doesn’t beat the story we got, but this is not a terrible premise at all. 7.5/10
I gotta admit. As much as I still love all four films including the Toy Story 3 we have now... I honestly wish this was made as well. After hearing how this film was supposed to go down with that synopsis, it really has me wanting to see this be recreated somehow. Heck i could see this be redone as a fan animation or even an official comic had they went ahead with doing this, especially if this was considered a "side-adventure" in the 8:42 mark. Heck, if Star Wars Episode 9 was given the treatment of the latter, this would surely be done as well. Even though that the fifth film is said to bring back the Malfunctioning Buzz plot line and the third film consisting of some of these other ones, it would've still been worth seeing this be brought to life somehow.
Honestly. As much as I agree with Jobs sentiment if “like giving up your own child to a child predator” - Disney’s version of TS3 actually sounds pretty good. Kinda reminds me of TS2

Like BB said, it sounds like a lighthearted side story and should have been released as a straight to dvd feature, or something. Also for a future video, I would like to see a What Could Have Been, David S.Goyer’s original draft for the 2008 film Jumper, that was some what pretty close to the original novel by Steven Gould.
For people interested in more about Eisner torpedoing Disney and Pixar's relationship, i cannot recommend the book DisneyWar enough. Its got a lot more than that, but the latter end of it goes into great detail how badly Eisner was mismanaging the company and their external relationships.
Tbh this is an interesting toy story movie concept and I think the army of buzz thing is going to be implemented in toy story 5.
