Right there with ya buddy. I was just curious if he did this internally. In America, they’re nearly all 5v. Sold as Bluetooth recievers, with the micro USB on one end for the power, and a 3.5mm headphone socket on the other. Right there, most quit once because brain can’t process it.
The rest of us run a power wire from someplace in the device thats 12v-15v, along with a wire to ground, connect that to a cigarette lighter usb Charger, then from the charger to the Reciever use a little micro usb cable. Then an auxiliary cable from the 3.5mm socket, cut the other end off, and solder/wrap/crimp the L & R Audio wires to the inputs of the device. Tuck it all out of the way and seal her up. Or let her dangle like most people.
My vintage 1970 HK Reciever has Bluetooth now and trips people out. Like it’s magic. *sigh*
Darieee what do you think can we connect bt on back side where is for changer place. R-in and L-in on back side of radio becouse my mechanic of cd is brocken? Or we cant use that input?
I had to take the time to say you did a quality job on that man very good work, you heat shrinked every wire, you didn’t hot glue the module in you took the time to drill holes and screw it in, you twisted the wires so they weren’t just floating wires, i seen some taped down to the board too! Very quality work man

I didn't know this was possible. I live in compton, stealing stereos isn't as big of a pain as it was in the past but I don't want a shiny ass stereo unit in my old car. This is perfect.

You don’t always need to reprogram. I added the wires to my generic oem head unit and when a device was plugged in, the option was added to the menu.
Very useful considering some stock units are way to big to just be replaced with any other one

I was trying to do this to my stereo a few years ago but was too lazy to find all the inputs and so on. I ended up having to hack the steering wheel transport controls anyway to make them work with my new head unit. Im glad I bought the new head unit though since it plays music from USB and I only need to use the bluetooth for calls the new stereo also came with hard wired hands-free. This is a very useful video though and I am thinking of making a similar one on the hacking of steering wheel controls.

A few years ago I wanted to replace my e46's stock radio-TAPE but I was suposed to buy a "Standard Radio Frame" from $$$ BMW $$$...
In the end, I converted the original to a Radio-Tape-BL (3 function) while the BOM was even cheaper:
5$ for the (cheapest I could find back then) bluetooth speaker to dismantle
0.5$ 1x 7805
~0$ : 1x 1N4148 + 2x 33Ko
I'm using it on a daily basis so it worth every second, Waste of Time my a$$.
The "standard radio frame" for the e46 is 5 to 10$. The problem is, aftermarket stereos look like ass in the e46's dashboard. I went with a simpler mod - I created an "aux in" by dismantling the tape drive inside the stereo, removed the read head, added filter capacitors and tiny resistors and soldered a wire with a jack to where the tape drive's head was. Then I jammed the tape drawer to fool the drive into thinking there's a tape in the stereo and done. When selecting the cassette player, I can use the jack to get quality audio via aux in. Then i got bored of that not being able to switch tracks using the steering wheel buttons, and got a Dension Gateway Lite adapter witch provides a USB port, works with the steering wheel controls, and can display track information on the stereo's display. It cost ~90$. Then I got bored of that and installed an aftermarket 2 din nav system witch looks identical to the car's original navigation, but has a touchscreen and android 8.0. It was expensive to do (270$ for the unit and another 100$ for a new ashtray holder to move the climate control down one slot) but it's so worth it. I have mp3 (via 2 usb ports or two sd card slots), video, DVD player, navigation via google maps or igo, Torque for scanning codes, youtube, a reverse camera and much more. I even put a NES emulator on it for kicks. Worth the 370$.

2004 Subaru, 70,00 ks and no USB Bluetooth and with a replacement kit for the stereo system being 1800 dollars this looks to be the solution to keeping the original Subaru system. Thanks for taking the time to share the clip.

This is best for a car where the hvac is built into the radio making it impossible to replace the radio. I.E. i did something similar in my 2008 Lexus is250. This car is just old enough to not have Bluetooth. It worked great, but if you don't know what is what you'll have to read a lot. I have some experience so it was easy for me to do.

This is a great video. It may be a lot of work but this is a great mod if you live in an area where aftermarket radios are stolen. Even if an aftermarket is cheap crooks will still steal it and sell it.

Thats an awesome modification bro, I like this tutorial, you are amazing , and I need to ask you one question , if we need to add the Aux pin to the car stereo instead of the bluetooth , should we do the same thing? I mean should we connect the Aux wires to the same audio's pins in the audio module?
There's a practical argument to make for adding Bluetooth if the radio of yours is a favorite or plays cassettes, you don't have the deep pockets to buy it all that music digitally or you don't have the time to rip them to mp3, ogg-vorbis or whatever your favorite digital format is. There is also the idea of experimenting, learning and having fun with what you're doing unconcerned about whether the electronic project is practical or not.

Super videos for the DIY! Much credit. For the NON-DIY, A decent Bluetooth to FM transmitter is 11$. I've found them at 5 below and dollar stores 1$. No radio disassembly or reinstall required. No tools to buy, Can run off batteries, fuse box, usb, cigarette socket, etc.

I do not own a Porsche because I am rich. I own my Porsche because I am cheap....lol. But I enjoy learning and testing new things out. The Bluetooth modules cost up to 500. For that price, I rather purchase a new stereo. Plus, I had my car broken in before. So, I would like to keep it look stock.

I was thinking to buy an cd changer emulator for my original stereo in my car (seems to be the only way to enable the audio input to hook up some kind of player, phone or whatever) but that costed me kind of a lot.. Never thought about a "silent CD". For sure this is the path I will take! Thanks for sharing the idea! :))
A 55Ah battery drained with 50mA is empty after 46 days, not 114 years. And you shouldn't completely drain a car battery anyway. So let's say we can safely take out 30Ah, and the car electrical system also drains 50mA, then we're already down to 12,5 days, less than two weeks...

really great video, I was able to learn from it what to do so that it works on my own radio unit.
I think it's very nice that I'm not the only one who wants to keep the contemporary look of the radio in the car.
But I have a question: Well, it worked and I was able to bring in the bluetooth signal via the cassette connection to the speaker of my car. But I have a lot of interference noise.
Do you have any ideas where the noise could come from?

This is perfect because buying a unit is a good solution but it really does not fit the style of the rest of the car. This keeps that same look but with an upgrade.

I live in Silicon Valley and as a child worked as a car stereo installer. Blaupunkt was the good stuff back then. I assume it's still very good. lol Just brought back some memories.
They're quite 'meh' these days .. this radio is okay quality wise, but after 5 years the buttons and encoder don't feel too good .. They make decent stuff for a reasonable price though

You could buy a Radio Adapter - buying a non-bluetooth one should help with getting as clean a radio signal as possible. Here's some on amazon amzn.to/2snA9ot

man, just call them on thursday, they got that call in request hour, you could request "Emit Silence" they will probably play it for you as long as it's not got cussing in it
Search via Tune to a all static station with the same on either side. If that is what you are asking.

I'm working on a hands free setup for an old Mitsubishi Colt (via AUX). I've bought the BT module shown in this video and a cheap lapel microphone. I'm having problems with the mic - it picks sounds only at close range (30cm or less). Can anyone recommend a mic would be good for this purpose?
I love the video. I have bought an aux Bluetooth adapter for a RNS310. Do you know if I could connect the power to the + and ground of the RNS310 destined for the CD changer? Or should I find another source of + and use the radio unit's case for ground?

In my opinion these older more OEM stereos are much better, they don't blind you at night! I had the aux version of this stereo but it went in a car I scrapped :(

My AUX port was damaged since last 2 years. Yesterday I visited a local repair centre and the guy suggested to install BT module in addition to AUX repair. He added BT module on my Nippon stereo some what in same way. I am very happy to see BT working on my 12 year old car in just 12 USD (850 INR)

Hello, I do have an Kebidu Bluethoth, mp3, USB player. I have a player that I want to connect to the Blaupunkt radio CD. I would like to remove the CD drive and continue to use the radio and mp3 module. I don't know where I have to connect the ACC related to the mp3 module so that I can switch from the radio mode to the so-called CD mode but the mp3 module works.
I assume that the audio signal coming out of the mp3 module must be connected exactly as shown in the video. Or do I probably need to connect to other pins?

Hi buddy. I have an old tape recorder. Same brand. There is only CD, the radio is playing. We are also the same chip holder. I could not find the audio outputs for this card. What should I do?
if u have problems with the voltage regualtor to work, solder a 100nf capaitor close to input and output, many cheap alternatives to lm7805 dont work well without these caps
Want to incorporate into my neighbors 74 corvette which has the original radio. How or can this CSR8645 BT unit be added to this radio (only unit) by independently switching the BT unit on/off (external switch) and connect somewhere in the audio circuit to pick up the amplified speakers? Where can I find internal schematic of this Delco radio? May be an old video but I fully understand the the technique used. Thought it was great.

Mmm, would be very tricky, and you'd need them to send a 2.2v or so pulse to the Bluetooth Module

i did this to my bmw e39 cassette player. the problem is that the bluetooth chip generates noise in the power supply. I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I tried it with my JVC KD-G401 but it does not seem to work :( I connected the CD.R and CD.L pins to an aux jack to test it. I used the AGND for the ground. Did someone alse also try this with this radio?
nice video! Im wondering if you can help me with my issue. I had purchased a panasonic cq vx5500 head unit off ebay and was told there was a bluetooth module in the Aux input. after installing the head unit, i attempt to connect to the bluetooth, however the signal drops and i have to reconnect again. what might cause this issue? i dont know if its related but it coincidentally happens when i turn the volume up. thats where it happens the most
Thank you for this video. It inspired me to install one in my lincoln with built I 6 disc changer. I mimiced your installation on mine however now the cd player plays at a much lower volume and the bluetooth volume is not nearly as loud as the fm bluetooth broadcaster I was using. Any suggestions what I can check? Alos on the device there is a connection for vol + and vol- Does that mean it may be just playing in the middle volume and if signal is sent to vol+ it would play louder?
Yeah, maybe add a 100uF capacitor in series with the L and R lines, there might have been a bias ? On the input lines ?
Or maybe you need to find a different input into the mixer

Very helpful, thanks. For the BT board you linked (CSR8645) - it has a pairing connector (it's labeled "COM"). Do you need to pair the BT board to your music source (I noticed you did not solder onto the "COM")?
You're welcome
The COM pin is actually the 1v8 rail derived by the CSR8645 chip - it's what you common the buttons to, so that when pressed, they apply 1v8 to the VOL+ VOL- PREV or NEXT inputs, which are GPIO pins of the CSR8645 programmed to perform those features
So, given this chip uses BT 4.1 (or other reasons?) volume on it is independent from the phone (at least for iphones), which renders in quite useless - so, I never actually used the buttons in any of my builds. Default volume is 100% which is fine by me - I control the volume from the phone exclusively.
At startup the BT module tries to connect to previously paired devices; if none are found it becomes discoverable, and you can pair your phone to it; at the next start it will connect automatically to it; no need for any buttons.
Also as a side-note, there are now CSRA64215 5/12V isolated modules available; that chip is way better, and there the volume of the BT Module is synced (with at least iphones). Other than that, they're a drop-in replacement for these CSR8645 ones - and cost the same too

I installed a cheap Chinese car play with with bluetooth but caused TPMS errors. Do you know what caused TPMS error? Can it be the bluetooth module? They have different bandwidth, don't they?

I got it out of a small iPod Dock from Philips; the dock used to sound like complete crap (couldn't test it at the flee market) - speakers seem fine though
Is it possible to install BT by removing the CD mechanism and of course circuit and by inserting BT Audio R +L to audio switching/audio processor chip ? I'm trying this in Kenwood KDS MP-333V car stereo. I've already installed it by disabling AM radio and inserting BT audio R+L combined, to the tuner input of the radio chip.For switching FM and BT audio I've used spdt relay.
this is a fantastic video man. i really appreciate it because my car (2009 honda civic) made impossible to connect the built in amplifier to aftermarket radios so ill try this. what id like to know is, given that is going to be connected to the CD source, AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS TO CHANGE A TRACK just like when i do it with regular cds????

@@Darieee knowing this, if my car has aux do you think it would make any improvement in quality audio to do this procedure instead of continue using the aux cable? The thing is that I want to mount and connect a surface pro 4 heheh.

Sound-wise BT4.0+ with the right protocols, sounds equally good to an AUX cable in a car environment at the very least
If you can get the bt module to power up with the radio, then it'll automatically connect, so ... that's another convenience benefit
