I know it’s been a while...but finally, here’s a new video! My longest one yet 😅 Hope you guys enjoy it and thanks for your patience! Fingers crossed the travelling restrictions ease here in Melbourne soon. I'm itching to get outside shooting again! Planning on filming a doco on Australia’s iconic Jack Jumpers (Myrmecia pilosula) when I get the chance.
Hi I’m thinking about ant keeping and I find you better then ants Canada so I have a question would any ant species in the uk harm a dog as I have one and I don’t want the ants to hurt him
Jack jumpers - are they those rather venomous ants? I was bitten by one a few years ago when I lived on the water and it was the most painful bite I've ever experienced..
@@Caesar.X dude its just take a month or two months of this fouding stage, i just keeping ants almost three years.esspesialy keeping a camponatus gigas queen its almost taking me three monts to have a worker, short story this colony dies because my friends disturb them a lot.:(
The Legend has returned, Jordan Dean! Thanks for featuring me on the video too :) I love Camponotus Nigreceps because of how they are big compared to other camponotus species. Having such vibrant colours and also the majors have strong mandibles holding many objects surrounding them. Also, I love how Camponotus work as a team, spraying formic acid and defeat their prey or even predators. However, they have repletes which would store liquids and regurgitate it to their young. That is why I love Camponotus Nigreceps, thank you so much for making a new video and can't wait for more :) Wish me luck in the giveaway!
I love campanotus noveborecansis they are an amazing species and I actually keep them even though shugar ants grow slowly it is sooooo worth it ants Australia please see this I really want to win the giveaway 😭
Agreed, I just found this channel today, but I occasionally watch AntsCanada too, and I hate the way he talks, so overdramatic and cheesy and annoying! I still may watch some of his content but this channel is probably my new ant favorite 😁
Awesome macro footage - as always - Jordan! These Camponotus Aeneopilosus look and behave a lot like the Camponotus Vagus I found this year, here in Austria, Europe. Very active ant species!
My favourite is the Camponotus lownei becuase of the fact that the larvae spin silk to cover themselves becuase I think it looks very satisfying and cool
Hi Jordan! My name is Jaydon and I am 11 years old. Thank you for all your videos. I am learning so much by watching them. My favourite sugar ant species is the Banded Sugar Ant because there are different castes, and the soldiers can be the same size as the queen. I also like the Golden Tailed Spiny Ant because of the pretty colours on them.
My favourite sugar ant species is Camponotus Rufipes, also known as red legged sarassará. It is one of the biggest ant species here in Brazil, where I live, and they're almost everywhere. I like its combination of pitch-black body and fiery red legs, something that, with its big size and their soldier's huge heads can make them quite scary, but fascinating. Once big enough, their colonies will practically dominate its territories. Every night, where I live, I can see them trail and just destroy everything in their way.
Return of the king. For what is my favorite species and why it has to be Camponotus aeneopilosus, first of all because of their beautiful coloration of black and gold, also I love how this particular species of Campo are really fast, especially for their size, also I love how they often use tandem running to help other members of the colony find food, also these guys are really interesting to watch. I also like how unlike a lot of other ants around my area they have majors which are really cool. I also find it really cool how some of the workers and majors act as repletes storing large amounts of liquid to use later. Unlike many of the other species of Campo these guys are really aggressive and will attack their prey ferociously without mercy, I personally find it really cool to watch them take down prey many times larger than them because as far as Camponotus go this species is a bit on the smaller side. Thanks for making such good documentaries and I wish all people who enter the giveaway Good Luck!
I love Camponotus Suffusus. I always loved Golden things likes my pyrite stone (Yes I am a rock nerd). I love how they can have different colored body's when they are adults. Their one of the creatures that would just make you smile when you see them. The gold patterns of those abdomen is JUST right, not to much gold not to little. That's why I LOVE them.
My favorite species of sugar ant would be the banded sugar ant, they are so abundant in my area and they have a super extensive nest system, I like how the queens are easier to keep and easier to spot. Definitely one of my top 5 species of ant, from here in Australia.
My favorite species of sugar ant is definitely the Camponotus suffusus because of its very very shiny and vibrant bodies. All the variations of colors are my favorite, whether it is golden, orange or brown. The queen is absolutely beautiful too a red mark on the thorax. I have seen so many in Australia and they are the best ones, always easy to spot.
There's no way I could pick just one. All the sugar ants are incredible. They're hardy, easy to keep and watch. Sugar ants are like that one aunty who always asks for a doggy bag for the leftovers and always has a stash of goodies in her fridge. It's a little bit embarrassing but everyone still loves her anyway :) Thanks for the great vid, Gratz on 100k and don't stay away so long next time. We all need our ant fix! ~dingo
One of my favorite ants is Camponotus sericeiventris, I think these golden ants are the most beautifull of them all I also love how they have many diffrent sizes and how they almost always look so chilled out
My favourite sugar ant species is Camponotus ligniperdus. Its one of the biggest ant species in my country and also my first colony . These ants really got me into antkeeping. Sadly i also had a fungal outbreak after the first nanitics arrived, which killed the colony. I was really gutted when i saw that my Queen died but i kept the antkeeping hobby .Now i have a colony of harvesting ants (around 300 individuals) that i house in an all in one design that was inspired by your Video:). Thank you for your videos they are truly inspiring.
Question giveaway answer: My favourite sugar ant species is Camponotus aeneopilosus, golden tail sugar ants. I have a colony of them in one of your amazing small ytong nests. I mainly like these because of their glorious looks. The queen doesn't have the golden abdomen hairs but that just makes her easily distinguishable. (p.s. I call her queen Marianne). The workers are very active and there are also soldiers, making an interesting cast in the species. They are very curious in the outworld and have made quite the mess, somehow managing to flip over the honey dispenser lol! I always love watching these guys (girls) explore and feast on the food I give them. I love the Aus Ants products and I would really like some more nests because I don't have that many colonies but many need a space upgrade. Thanks for reading my submission.
OMG FINALLY ANOTHER ANT ROOM TOUR!!! :DDD Congrats on 100k! My favourite species of carpenter ants has to be Camponotus novaeboracensis. I just love their unique reddish-brown and black colour, especially when they cluster together in their nests. They are found throughout the usa and Canada. I don't live in either places but I really hope one day I can and keep a colony. The Majors of this species look gorgeous with their black heads and red thorax. They also have repletes and aquapletes like most other carpenter ants. They nest pretty much everywhere, under logs and stumps, sometimes inside tree stems, in dead branches on the ground and under bark, boards, or even under stones. They have also been known to eat away the dead and/or diseased parts of tree stems and branches where they nest. As a result, the trees actually grow faster and healthier than others! Such a unique and extraordinary specie of ants.
My favorite species of Camponotus ants are C. lownei because of the soldiers that stuff themselves with food and become a ‘living refrigerator’ and also C. castaneus for their distinctive red color. Also C. lownei is a small species and thus easy to raise for starters.
I live in indonesia, my favorite camponotus species is camponotus gigas/dinomyrmex gigas.she is the biggest ant ever see in my life, she also the calmest and the greatest ant i ever keep in my life, when i gave her a drop of honey she immedietly drank the honey on the stick without disturb and sometimes she play and ran in my hand without biting me, when she play in my hand she does unthinkble action she scaning my hand with her antena like she said something to me,diffrent from my other camponotus queen when i try to feed them, they ran and pannic in the test tube. I raise her almost 4 monts when she get her first manitics ,i and my friend are so happy, when the manitics started to old they take all the queen jobs, the workers also smart like their mother when i open their conteiner, the worker then emerging from their the test tube and scanning the sky and started to follow the food where ever i put it,their are so cute when their following my hand. But short story this colony stated dying when the queen die because a lot of my friends watcing and disturb them every times, when the queen die i started to cry in my heart ,i feel bad to the colony.i have a hight hope to this colony because this camponotus queen is very rare and this queen was the smartest and the greatest queen ant i ever keeps and just die after 8 monts later, when i started to funeral her all of my friends joining and starting to donating because they very sad to me. Ok Thats my short story of my camponotus gigas ant, sorry if i had wrong word in this story ,thanks guys.
My favorite sugar ant species has to be Camponotus floridanus because they often nest in driftwood and they are surprisingly calm ants that don’t try to attack any organisms unless needed and can co exist with other ant species. I find them enjoyable to watch while they feed on honeydew or tree sap while I sit under a small tree in which they decided to inhabit.
All sugar ant species are amazing but my favorite is the classic camponotus consubrinus I love their color , how easy the colony is to keep and their different sizes I am just amazed at how ants can have workers and soldier
My favourite sugar ant species is Camponotus Lownei! I love how they're small and they're cute little ants! Their orangy black colour is beautiful and i really can't wait to get a queen! Their majors are beautiful too! These guys are underrated and I love to show my love for them
My favourite sugar ant species is the Camponotus Nigreceps because they have such cool colours and they are bigger then the average ant. Also I have just got into ant keeping and am searching for my first queen ant you have really inspired me to get into ant keeping and getting that next would be a big help. Also congrats on 100k keep up the great work
I love the camponotus auriventris. I like their semi transparent gasters that reflect UV light to prevent overheating while hunting during the day. Their unique shiny colour makes them beautiful.
My favorite specie is the Camponotus nigriceps because of their size and the way their soilders head is shaped. It makes them loook sooo adorable. Kinda like mini hearts. They also remind me of the big headed ants known as phidole which is also one of my most favorite ants!
Actually my favorite ant species is the Odontomachus sp. which is the trapjaw ants, they are native to my country and they look unique from other ants.
My favorite sugar ant (my favorite ant in general) is camponotus consobrinus because when i was just getting into ant keeping i spent months looking for queens and a couple of days before i was about to give up ant keeping, i went on my last search for a queen and i couldn't find one so i went to have a shower and go to sleep in the bathroom was a banded sugar ant queen so i ran to my room and grabbed a test tube and caught her. She now has 100 workers and i own many ant species. If i won id use the ytong nest to house my new myrmecia pyriformis queen. Also thanks for all the motivation to keep ants! great video!
my favorite species of camponotus is one called camponotus irritans, an ant common in my area, and my very first species of ant i kept. what's interesting about them is that the queens look like camponotus lownei queens, but the workers, even after eclosing from their cocoons, tend to be a light yellow/golden colour, at least from my experience. i have no idea what the majors look like though. right now my colony is too small to have any majors, but i hope to see one soon! they also tend to raise their abdomen towards a threat and lay a single drop of mystery liquid on it. the ant then quickly flees and the liquid seems to irritate the threat, causing it to panic and run around, eventually exhausting it. i suspect this liquid might be formic acid, but since the ants drop so little at a time, i haven't got around to try and identify it. well, that's all i have to say. i hope i win the giveaway, and if i don't, i hope this at least helps someone get to know camponotus irritans!
my favourite typeof sugar ant is camponotus consibrinus! Because it was the first specie I ever caught and my favourite teacher (R.I.P) Was the one who really got me into ant keeping and he had a camponotus colony so it holds a special place in my heart!
camponotus sericeiventris, even though the golden seems to be a very big attracting factor, that's not the reason i like these carpenter ants, (i personally prefer silver like camponotus planatus) the reason I like these carpenter ants, is because of their behavior, odd shape, and enormous size, here in Mexico, its quite common to find them foraging around the tree trunks, they almost never step on the ground, being strictly arboreal, it makes it extremely difficult to find the queens, since they are looking for nesting ground, on the tree tops. now, you may notice they have extremely large and meaty legs, making them extremely tanky. its unusual to find workers foraging, i assume its because they are a tropical species, which means they hardly ever need repletes to store food for a drought or for the winter, making it so that soldier ants, are the ones foraging, while the workers stay inside and tend to the queen and brood, quite an opposite for most ant species. They also have an uncommon trait for most sugar ants, great vision, because of the fact that they are exclusively arboreal, they have to fight for every inch of branch, them being one of the largest ants around (larger than even the dinosaur ants neoponera), makes it extremely difficult to tap every millimeter of branch with their antennae on the looks for invading small ants, so instead, they use their eyesight, to spot the intruder almost immediately and completely cease an attack. this trait, that is owned by ants like pseudomyrmex, gives the large ants an extreme advantage for territorial superiority, unlike crematogaster or azteca, who compansate their size by their large numbers and short temper. i hope i can find a queen in the near future, even though they fly on the tree tops, me and some friends have figured a way to bring them down. and that is, a light. using a bright light and a white surface, we plan to bring down the queens during their nocturnal flights. since ants and other insects, are attracted to light because of their eyes, which is not a common use to gather queen ants, but we hope it is effective.
My son's favourite sugar ant is Camponotus consobrinus as we have a small but growing colony at home! We love feeding them flies and meal worms and they absolutely love honey. At the moment, the soldiers in the main chamber have stored the honey as repletes and we enjoy watching them share the food with the workers and queen. We've noticed that any honey they don't eat, they cover in sand substrate from their out-world, perhaps as a way to store it for later? Has been a great way to teach my kids about how ants social structure works and teach them plenty of new latin words. Congrats on 100k subscribers! We really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks, Tim and Theo
Its really bad in the U.S. right now no one takes the Virus seriously here, and all the rioting the rest of the world is doing a better job at wearing masks and trying to protect people right now in my state your not restricted to wear a mask even though my state is being the hardest hit in the United States 90,000 cases only a population of 3,200,000 throughout the entire state
@@sausaigeham1104 And the same president who refused to put proper restrictions in place eventually got the virus and was criticized for leaving hospital to early
I don't know why no one can just get along and I know people are protesting in other parts of the world too of course this all has to happen at the same time
@@sausaigeham1104 The US not taking covid 19 seriously isn't the only way they have put other countries in danger. They also bought up the entire supply of this chemical that can be used to cure coronavirus then sold it for up to $200 despite the fact they would be making a profit if they sold it at $10
I know that's not the only way they are harming the world but that's why the US needs to stop caring for it's self it's putting the world at risk I just wish America stopped caring for it's self
I actually remember mistaking a large sugar ant nest for a bull ant nest when I was younger because they were so big. I also remember running across a sugar ant queen once when I was walking, I live kind of out of town, and it's the only time I can remember seeing a queen. Love the videos and keep up the good work.
I like the European species Camponotus ligniperdus. They are a slow growing but large species ( for Europe ). I like their ruby red thorax and this can also be seen on their petiole and and beginning of their abdomen. They are also quite easy to feed , they love dried up mealworms and sugar water. They are diurnal and quite active in their outworld. Their major castes can be quite large with large heads.
I love the banded sugar any by far my faviroute they have the nicest colour pallet out of any other sugar ant in my opinion it they all blend so nicely
My favorite Camponotus species would have to be Camponotus sansabeanus. I love their amazing colors, they have this amazing orange and black color similar to 5he banded sugar ants you showed but sansabeanus can be in all different shades.. I am currently housing a colony in a home made ytong nest that I based off of your video. They are really amazing ants and they were the ants that got me into the hobby. I caught a queen about 3 months ago and the colony has gotten 15 workers and a boat load of brood. I can’t wait for them to grow larger.
My Favourite Sugar Ant Species Is The Banded Sugar Ant. I Love Them So Much Because I Grew Up With Them And I Always Used To Just Watch Them For Hours. And I Would Love To See What Goes On In Their Nest! These Ants Are Perfect For Me Because I Am A Night Owl And So Are They! I Wish To One Day Own A Colony Of My Own.
My favorite would be the banded sugar ants. We use to have a very large nest of them on the side of our driveway. Every spring they would construct huge "towers", and i would sit and watch them for hours! Brings back a lot of memories :)
my favorite type of sugar ant is that of camponotus lowney, i love the stripes on their back. Also the color viability between older and younger ants, the clear white of their brood is, in my opinion, quit beatifull. I especially liked the story of the queen and the fact that she survived with only 2 functional legs! the video was done incredibly well and made my day a whole lot better! I hope my English is good enough and you can read it! Have a nice day everyone!
I personally LOVE the silvery/golden tailed look of the camponotus pennsylvanicus species here in the midwest of the USA. I have a colony of them and they eat anything i give them, they love apples especially! The polymorphism of them is fantastic and they are growing very fast. Their always curious of whatever i put into the tank and are fast to devour a superworm. Ive noticed them digging tunnels by the side of the tank where there is the most light 🧐 i have no idea why but its fun to see! Their currently in a naturalistic setup but i want to move them into a acrylic or ytong nest in the future so i can see them better!
My favorite would be Camponotus pennsylvanicus, I have kept 3 different colonies of this species and each had their own behaviors and characteristics. That said they all were the most active of all Camponotus colonies I have kept with the largest amount of size variance among their workers, with many having soldiers that rival the queen in size within 2 years of founding.
Hey Jordan, im currently in Western Australia and an aspiring ant keeper, I really love your channel as it’s soo interesting learning all these interesting things about the ants native to our country and it’s soo easy to tell how much effort and love you put into each video along with raising your colonies which has inspired me to get one of my own hence why I would like to be considered for the give away. Although only just learning about them in this video I really like the campanotus suffusus ants! I didn’t consider the fact that a species would have ants that all looked notably different which I think is really cool, that way in it’s young stages you could name the first generation ants individually which would be soo cool and would bring you emotionally closer to the ants. This video has actually made me decide I want to specifically try and obtain a suffusus queen as my first since I just love them soo much in this video.
My favorite colony was Camponotus suffusus simply because they look the coolest! I especially appreciate the variation in color and the epic looking majors.
My favorite sugar ant species are Camponotus americanus by far. They are just amazing looking ants, they look a lot like the Camponotus consobrinus that you featured in this video. The reason they are so fascinating for me is because , first off, large ants have always appealed to me more, and their 12 mm max size definitely fits that criteria. Secondly, they are local to my area, so they are much more accessible to myself, allowing me to witness their magnificent in person. Their pleasant organe-ish color is very nice looking and serves an important purpose, camouflage for the wood they reside in. They are just fabulous ants all together and I hope during nuptial flights this season I will be able to catch one of their young queens.
I have always loved the black headed sugar ant. There were always nests of them around my grandparents place as a kid and I would enjoy watching them rush about I never knew much about any keeping back then but I always loved the little guys!
I really liked your video. The footage is amazing and you can really see how cute the ants really are! And with the music and your relaxing voice it's just so nice to watch and enjoy. Didn't mind the lenght too. Greetings from Germany
My favourite species of Camponotus is Camponotus vagus, they are big, aggressive, silver colored and super hairy. They live in Europe and I love to observe them. The biggest species of ant in Europe I s Camponotus ligniperda, but there were reports of workers of C. vagus bigger than workers of C. ligniperda so that means they can have the biggest workers in Europe
My favorite type of sugar ant is Camponotus Lateralis, a relatively small sugar ant with colony rarely exceeding hundreds of workers. This species is perfectly mimicking the red and black colors of Crematogaster Scutellaris and thus being able to use their trail and sharing their food. Crematogaster Scutellaris also known as acrobat ant is a very aggressive species spraying acid on predator, making them Camponotus Lateralis bodyguards. I recently catch two Crematogaster Scu. queens and I'm now dreaming to build a setup hosting the two species. Love your work and GL to everyone !
My favorite is the banded sugar ants or Camponotus consobrinus because they were my friends first ants and he got me fascinated in ants. And they were easy to observe due to his setup and there size I hope I win because all of my setups are diy
I fell in love with the banded sugar ants a couple years ago. I had always wanted ants so when I saw a mature colony of these large sugar ants working in harmony to forage and explore. I got stuck for hours just watching them do their thing.
I’ve recently discovered the channel, and been hooked on all the videos. It made me nostalgic. I used to have an ant colony in my yard as a child that I considered “mine”, and fed and protected. I watched them tunnel, I helped them, I provided a stone covering they loved to breed under. It was slate rock, I assume it held heat because they moved the brood and under it after I put it down over one of the disturbed holes. I watched them farm aphids or other dew suckers) on the rose bush. I gave them any dead insect I encountered, and sweets, I checked on them all through my childhood. I was inspired to finally look them up, after binge watching so many ant videos. Turns out, they were camponotus pennsylvanicus, or the most destructive carpenter ant on my continent. OOPS! Explains why all the hills were around the base of several trees. And always found on the trees. Sorry property owners in New England. I was totally subsidizing carpenter ants. I might try to find a queen. They are more native to the continent then I am, and arguably more interesting. Forever my favorite ant.
My favorite species of Camponotus is Camponotus Castaneus, I love their beautiful red color and how much they roam around above ground in search of food, I also love observing their behavior underground and can watch colonies of them for hours on end.
I absolutely love your videos and am so glad that I found you while stuck in lockdown. I've gotta say that my favourite Sugar ant species is the golden tail, I remember when I first saw one while doing my entymology unit, I always thought that they looked awesome with the dark black body and golden end. The shine of the golden hairs is something that always caught my eye, the way most of the sugar ants are very social and interact with each other more than a lot of people would think ants would. The way a young colony sticks close and slowly gains confidence makes me feel like raising a colony would be a much more exciting and I have to admit that before I found your channel and videos that I didn't have as much of an appreciation for ants as I do now, just looking at the complex social structure and the way they work together to deal with any issues really shows just how great they are. While I am in lockdown I've been looking for a new hobby/skill to develop, and now I'm 100% convinced that my ideal hobby is with ants, I'm looking forward for lockdown easing so I can go to some parks to try and capture some queens and get myself a starting colony! Keep up the fantastic videos and absolute respect for spending your time educating everyone on how ants aren't just a pest and are very useful and interesting to watch. (I promise I didn't want to type a comment this long going in..) Love your work dude and congrats on 100k so glad I could be apart of it 👌😃😄
My favourite sugar ant species is the beautiful Camponotus herculeanus that live in Europe and the Middle East because its the first colony I ever kept. I also always enjoyed going to the forest and looking at the huge nests they make (sometimes they even make more than one.)
My favourite species of your sugar ants (unfortunately I don't keep any of my own or know any others) is the Camponotus lowlei! I think it's so awesome that the queen battled through adversity to rear a successfully colony, and I find it very sweet that she is so meticulously cared for by her children; she's earned it!
My favorite is camponotus ligniperda because its the largest species of ant in europe (where I live). I also love the red and black colouration which gives it a super intimedating look.
My favourite species of sugar ant is Camponotus fulvopilosus. Their colour is just AMAZING and the large hairs on their gaster is something that I have never seen on other ants. These ants can also have different patterns on their gasters such as stripes or spots which makes them a unique species to keep. :)
I just love Golden Tailed Sugar Ants they are By far my Favorite Ant Species Because they hunt in the Day and i get to See them Search for food and hunt! And i also Like how they look with their Abdomen being striped.
I like the camponotus innexus the most because they are most likely found in dead wood and it's cool that an ant can make paths and nesting areas in wood. They break the wood piece by piece to make the rooms and hallways, not like termites, which digest the wood. Thank you for the amazing videos! You got me hooked on ants and antkeeping!
My favourite Camponotus species is Camponotus/Colobopsis saundersi (The Exploding Ant). They are found in Malaysia and are my favourite species because the workers will rupture/explode if they need to defend their colony. When this happens the defending ants will die, but each ant will also spray multiple attackers with a poisonous sticky substance. It's obviously not good for the individuals, but it's a great defence for the colony, as their species has to defend themselves from large colonies of Weaver Ants. Each worker can paralyze and poison multiple attackers, making their defence mechanism one of the most efficient among all ant species. Love your videos, they are well worth the wait! :)
Camponotus lownef as i love the majors. The replets look really cool and big! I would like to start ant keeping aswell as im so fascinate by ant and i love insects. Except for headlice
My favorite would have to be Camponotus Aeneopilosus because I’ve always loved larger any species, one because I can see and observe them better, two because it’s cool to see how strong they are, and three because the colonies take longer to mature, and my favorite part of watching ants is in the beginning stages
My favourite sugar ant species would be Camponotus consibrinus. The first queen I ever caught was one of these beauties and I fell in love with them from the day I caught her. I love their size and colour. Watching them forage around and guarding their nests is always fun and I love seeing what they get up to.
In the Area that I live, every time I walk past a small nature strip are a huge colony of Camponotus Ants! Camponotus Aneophilus to be exact! These are my favourite type of Camponotus and I’ve always wanted to keep them! My favourite thing about them, is about how they’re so active and protective! I always see them scurrying around, sometimes even in cold weather and stick together like birds of a feather! Whenever their nuptial flights began (and I obviously tried to get a queen) their workers stayed protectively by their sides and made sure no harm came to the young elates! Not only that but they are exceptionally beautiful with the black bodies and dim golden hairs! I hope this gets read, you are doing an amazing job Jordan! Stay safe and keep up the great work! Good luck to everyone else entering the giveaway!
I know it’s been a while...but finally, here’s a new video! My longest one yet 😅 Hope you guys enjoy it and thanks for your patience! Fingers crossed the travelling restrictions ease here in Melbourne soon. I'm itching to get outside shooting again!

Also, I love how Camponotus work as a team, spraying formic acid and defeat their prey or even predators. However, they have repletes which would store liquids and regurgitate it to their young. That is why I love Camponotus Nigreceps, thank you so much for making a new video and can't wait for more :)
Wish me luck in the giveaway!
I love campanotus noveborecansis they are an amazing species and I actually keep them even though shugar ants grow slowly it is sooooo worth it ants Australia please see this I really want to win the giveaway 😭

So much more informative, soothing, relaxing and less overly dramatic than your Canadian colleague.
Agreed, I just found this channel today, but I occasionally watch AntsCanada too, and I hate the way he talks, so overdramatic and cheesy and annoying! I still may watch some of his content but this channel is probably my new ant favorite 😁
Ikr ants Canada does it more for the money
@Biologic He didn't purposely put them in. They got infected from mites in the soil.

Awesome macro footage - as always - Jordan!
These Camponotus Aeneopilosus look and behave a lot like the Camponotus Vagus I found this year, here in Austria, Europe. Very active ant species!
Yes, true! Except for the goldish being more silver on camp. vagus

I didn't know you watched Ants Australia
this is sooooooooooooooooooooo nice to watch, so satisfying - watching the ants dart around
So this is the video we’ve been blessed with this year.
By lord it is a blessing
Nicely done! Looking forward to more uploads!
There's no way I could pick just one. All the sugar ants are incredible. They're hardy, easy to keep and watch. Sugar ants are like that one aunty who always asks for a doggy bag for the leftovers and always has a stash of goodies in her fridge. It's a little bit embarrassing but everyone still loves her anyway :)

I live in the US and I have always heard the genus camponotus referred to as carpenter ants, but maybe that’s just a new world thing
Question giveaway answer:
My favourite sugar ant species is Camponotus aeneopilosus, golden tail sugar ants.
Just got a new acrylic nest from you definitely the best I ever got
lucky😶
My favorite species of Camponotus ants are C. lownei because of the soldiers that stuff themselves with food and become a ‘living refrigerator’ and also C. castaneus for their distinctive red color. Also C. lownei is a small species and thus easy to raise for starters.
Nice! 👍
You have no idea how happy I am that you have finally uploaded a video again. I really enjoy them.

Camponotus nigriceps is my favorite, because of there beautiful color!

My favourite species of ant too!
after 7 months......... the legend is back!

Also thanks for all the motivation to keep ants! great video!
my favorite species of camponotus is one called camponotus irritans, an ant common in my area, and my very first species of ant i kept. what's interesting about them is that the queens look like camponotus lownei queens, but the workers, even after eclosing from their cocoons, tend to be a light yellow/golden colour, at least from my experience. i have no idea what the majors look like though. right now my colony is too small to have any majors, but i hope to see one soon! they also tend to raise their abdomen towards a threat and lay a single drop of mystery liquid on it. the ant then quickly flees and the liquid seems to irritate the threat, causing it to panic and run around, eventually exhausting it. i suspect this liquid might be formic acid, but since the ants drop so little at a time, i haven't got around to try and identify it.
well, that's all i have to say. i hope i win the giveaway, and if i don't, i hope this at least helps someone get to know camponotus irritans!
how menacing
I love your voice, it’s so calming, and the music is perfectly chill to make this not just super interesting but incredibly calm
once you can, can you do a video on australia's green pony ants? there doesn't seem to be much info online
my favourite typeof sugar ant is camponotus consibrinus!
Thanks,
Tim and Theo

I don't know why no one can just get along and I know people are protesting in other parts of the world too of course this all has to happen at the same time
@@sausaigeham1104 The US not taking covid 19 seriously isn't the only way they have put other countries in danger. They also bought up the entire supply of this chemical that can be used to cure coronavirus then sold it for up to $200 despite the fact they would be making a profit if they sold it at $10

I actually remember mistaking a large sugar ant nest for a bull ant nest when I was younger because they were so big. My favorite species of sugar ant is the golden backed ant (camponotus
sericeus). I like this species of ant because of their beautiful golden back.
I love the Banded Sugar ant because of how funny they are like when they drag the stubborn ants out of the nest when they forage🤣🤣
You have very good quality footage
I have always loved the black headed sugar ant. There were always nests of them around my grandparents place as a kid and I would enjoy watching them rush about I never knew much about any keeping back then but I always loved the little guys!
I really liked your video. The footage is amazing and you can really see how cute the ants really are!
And with the music and your relaxing voice it's just so nice to watch and enjoy. Didn't mind the lenght too.
Greetings from Germany
My favorite Camponotus ant type is just the simple carpenter ant native to North America, because they are super easy to find and raise.
And they were easy to observe due to his setup and there size
I hope I win because all of my setups are diy
Damn bro. Nice
My favorite species of Camponotus is Camponotus Castaneus, I love their beautiful red color and how much they roam around above ground in search of food, I also love observing their behavior underground and can watch colonies of them for hours on end.
my favourite species of sugar ant is Camponotus nigriceps as the size of their massive soldier ants fascinates me!
(I promise I didn't want to type a comment this long going in..)
Love your work dude and congrats on 100k so glad I could be apart of it 👌😃😄
My favourite sugar ant species is the beautiful Camponotus herculeanus that live in Europe and the Middle East because its the first colony I ever kept.
