Dear Jordan For a couple of years I was bullied and occasionally I still am and I was really depressed. Over time I was watching a ton of animal videos like crabs,spiders,scorpions,moles and all sorts of random stuff and then I came across...YOU and I just loved the way not only you narrated the ants but the way they acted and worked in different ways. When I was younger I was a very imaginative type and I saw ants as different species of warriors like orcs, humans,elves and dwarfs all with their unique attack functions and techniques and I just loved the fact that they were going through day to day struggles and worked so hard... and then I linked that with myself. How these beings had struggles just like I did and I realised that they had feelings too. I instantly subbed and started supporting the channel and never really knew the wonders these creatures beheld. I was astounded. So now I want the nest to help me start a colony of my own this summer. That way when I’m down I can look up to these amazing beings of the undergrowth and I can always learn a thing or too along the way. It’s not just about me though I want to sustain a colony and help it flourish in return for some mental help. I have heard that they are very good for mental problems. Therefor I want to enter this competition to do all that. And it will all be thanks to you Jordan thank you

I love how the ants interact with each other and the environmental factors like how I have found meat ants fighting over a dead bird but weren’t killing each other as much as I thought it must be because they were focusing on making the colony bigger
For me the most interesting thing about ants is the tunnels that they make and how flexible they can be with living conditions. Recently me and my father went to uproot a tree that had termites in it, but when we knocked it down we found that all of the termites had been killed and the nest was adopted by solenopsis invictia ants. As far as we could see they didn't change a thing. They just started living there.
Ants are extraordinarily fascinating creatures! I myself am most interested in ant keeping because of the way the work together, all a well oiled machine working towards a common goal. It's amazing to think about how they beat us to many things we thought were only for highly intelligent, social creatures! But what we all overlook is ants are highly intelligent creatures! Just think about it, the way invasive ants spread like wildfire out of human control, or the fact that ants outnumber humans more than 1 million to 1! They are amazing to watch, and an exceptional experience to start a colony yourself! You get to create a little civilization out of nothing, feed them, care for them, provide them with living space! This experience is not found anywhere else. I also particularly love the planning side of it. Planning ahead and ordering formacariums for test tube colonies then designing their outworlds to fit them! All of these experiences can never be found elsewhere! I also love watching them forage when they first get a new outworld, you see them wandering up to certain things, investigating, and moving on to the next thing. One last thing that interests me about ant keeping is that you can collect different species and realize how diverse ants are. It's like getting to know a new person as you discover all of their preferences and personality. That is the final thing I love about ant keeping, thanks to anyone who took the time to read this entire thing all the way to the bottom!!!
My favourite thing about ants is how they all work together in unity helping each other out and deciding what is best for the colony I think this is just beautiful to watch their is no other animal like the ants.
Me and my grand father are very interested in ant keeping but the rest of my family hate them Finally after two years of begging for ants I finally convinced my family to buy me them And now I have two harvester ant queens
Yang yang Both were Messor Barbarus, one just had a red head. Sadly the one with a black head died without a colony, but the red one went on to make a huge colony, she’s now in a kind of desert paludarium. Huge majors!
Flawless yaz Yeah, I’ve seen them create huge eggs this year, I think they might be the future queens and kings, had to move them into an even bigger tank with a oasis theme :)
What interests me about ants is their unity. It's so amazing how they work together as one to get things done, how they can build bridges and rafts with their bodies, how they go out of their way to help other ants or clean another ant if they are dirty, their unity and cohesion is one of the main reason that i love ants.
What I love about ants is their loyalty, because no matter what the ants will always be in one. Death doesn't matter to the ants, what matters is the survival of their colony. It is fascinating to see the ants working together. Currently, I have a colony of sugar ants that need new space. I love that they always do their best in order for colony survival. What amazes me the most about ants is their hive mind. One ant decides to start working on something new and before you know it, more and more ants keep joining in.
Contests:I enjoy watching the ants move around and explore! When i checked mine once they were moving the brood to weird places but they moved them back after they were fed. It's so cool to see them explore their surroundings and discover new things!
The most fascinating part about ants, is how they communicate and interact with each other. I think its just mind blowing that they're able to maintain a society with pheromones. Ant keeping to me feels like you're watching a whole state build up and progress in a short period of time. In my opinion, leaf cutter ants are the most fascinating species. I love watching them forage in such an organized way. Every ant has its role to play. I have been watching Ants Australia for over a year now and if I win the giveaway I will let my camponotus ligniperdus colony occupy the nest, it was my first colony and currently has 7 workers and a lot of brood. I believe they belong to the prettiest species in europe and I love watching them feed and nurture their brood.
I find ants interesting because of their alien like behavior that's still somewhat relatable. Their lives are extremely interesting, and they teach us so much about how amazing nature can be. Additionally, you can make a colony your pet! You'll then gain a understanding about ants and even some compassion with them. That's why I find ants so interesting.

The independent decision works cause they have no other desire but to help their colony thrive, so every decision is made to benefit the colony SOMEHOW, making the machine work perfectly.
What I find most interesting about ants is there ability to work as a team. They all put the colony before them and this has been a motivation for me to get along with others, listen to what my peers have to say, and give back to the community.
Hi Jorden, First of all thank you for being such a good antuber, whenever I come back from a long tiring day of school I would always check if you had a new video out and when it did it would be like Christmas came early, your photography skills are top notch and your narration is soothing. The thing that interests me the most about Ants are how they interact with one another. Most people just think ants are a pest but when you really look at them, they all have distinct personalities and interactions, that's what I love about Ants. I would love to win the acrylic nest as I'm just getting started in the hobby and it'll be great for my ants. Anyways, sorry for the long comment and Thank You for still keeping this hobby alive!
Absolutely awesome video! Loved every minute of it. Great camera and video work. I have always loved ants. My father was an entomologist and studied butterflies, this maybe why I started looking closer at our smaller friends. I find ants so accessible, always busy, which makes them great to watch and they are achievable pets no matter where you live. If you are in a small apartment you can still have a couple of thousand pet ants. I think ants are fascinating because they contribute so much to life on earth and I don’t think we even realise how much. Watching your videos and seeing your products has reinvigorated my love for ants. Please keep up the great work.
I love the intelligence of ants, they behave, quite like humans...with curiosity, alarm, fright, anger...it's beautiful, I feel like I can understand how they think and feel. Might be just me xD. Regardless, this is what interests me!

I don't know if I can narrow down what I love about ants to one single thing, but for whatever reason ever since I've stumbled across your videos on TH-cam here, I have been fascinated with them. Watching your videos, watching the videos of other Ant TH-camrs... For some reason it's almost relaxing. Peaceful somehow. I followed your tutorial videos on how to catch a Queen Ant, and how to raise one, and am now the proud owner of a couple colonies of Prolasius Sp. ants. Having one of your Ant Australia Acrylic Nests to move them in to once the colony has grown would be an amazing experience, so I can watch them in my own home. Really looking forwards to watching more of your videos, and excited to see more content with you going Full time with TH-cam.
The majestic being that is the Queen Ant is definitely one of the biggest sources of amazement and mystery. There are so many things about these magnificent creatures that draw my interest whether it be from their colony founding stages or all the way to when they have established a truly mature colony. The fact that they can maintain a colony for years with a single mating session is incredible! I'm only new to ant keeping so I don't have the experience to draw upon however even so, I find myself thinking about my four fully claustral Iridomyrmex queens all the time. When I do visit them, I find myself quickly lose track of time as I watch them stand guard, almost motionless and tend to their eggs. What are they thinking? Are they ready to strike? Do they know I'm here? What are they actually doing when they are tending to their eggs? I find that the more I learn about these queen ants, the less I know. I feel that I have gotten myself into one crazy rollercoaster.
Introduce a pseudoscorpion into the entrance of the test tube. They're too small to bother the ant and are too small to be food for the ant but they eat mites
Dear Jordan : I have been keeping ants in NSW since the beginning of 2019 and now have a camponotus consibrinus and Myrmecia pilosula queen. I’m thinking of starting a TH-cam channel of my own documenting these ants. Your videos have been a great inspiration to me for quite a long time, ants really are quite an interesting part of nature. Personally, their behaviour. The way they act as a colony. Watching a colony grow, their social learning and every interaction; how every specie is designed with the soul purpose of only helping the colony, their social stomachs, caring nature, egg laying abilities, protecting eachother is just extremely amazing, interesting and fascinating. So what I like the most about atns is seeing them grow in colony size and living in peace. It's just so wonderful to see them caring for each other like a hugh family which is what they are while you know that all these wonderful workers came from one single.
My favourite genus of ants is Odontomachus. Their mandible-closing speed is definitely one of the reasons why I like them. It also shows that there are so much more to ants then them being small red/black pests. This also led me into the ant keeping hobby as I want to observe the lives of ants which otherwise would go unseen in the wild. I want to experience the joy of the queen having her first nanitics,watch them feed and care for their brood,that is how I found out about Ants Australia. Jordan and the team, I always look forward to your videos as they are always inspirational and full of information needed for people starting out in the ant hobby. My favourite tutorial video has to be the tubs and tubes video. I am pretty sure that video helped people like me that can't get professional formicariums that are too expensive. The video allows us to observe the nesting behaviour of ants using a simpler and cheaper method, instead of getting a formicarium,and that is why I really like that video. The other reason I really like your videos is that I want to explore the species found in Australia, especially the bull and jumping jack ants (Myrmecia sp), which are my dream species. I get to learn about their natural behaviours in your highly informative documentaries even though I can't get them here in Singapore. So I want to thank you guys for helping me in the ant hobby that now I am able to have my own colonies and observe them upclose. Thank you.
What I love about ants most is that they are very satisfying to keep and just fun to watch. I also love not only watching my own small colonies but to just look at wild ants is fun too. To just study and enjoy ants in a way so many don't understand, I wish all could see ants as they really are.
The fact that ants are so diverse and efficient, has always struck me. They are usually overlooked, but much more than they seem. It can be hard for lots of people like me to get an efficient colony growing, so it's always great for a little boost. When observing ants, I've seen how they react with their environment, and the creatures around them. How they react with challenges, and opportunities. It's all so amazing. Ants have managed to get around burning so much energy, gaining so little, yet they grow and grow. Ants have spread through tough terrain across the world. They are a seed to the world of animals, and our interactions with us. Together, us and other creatures can create an amazing world, and ants have helped start it. What interests me most about ant keeping is their nesting behaviors. I had recently attached a Lasius Nigerus colonu in a test tube setup to a small 3D printed nest, while preparing the nest for imhabitance I had cut and left tiny scraps of pla in the nest. The ants then moved all of these tiny pieces to their garbage pile. Even though this behavior is entirely mundane, you don't see this much elsewhere in the insect world, and most people would think of insects as too incompetent to be capable of house keeping, or even the awareness of a mess. Thanks a lot for the beautiful ant content you produce!
What I really like about ants is that they are kind of like little people you know? they construct there own homes, find there own food, and care for each other. to sum it up, In the wild they're pretty much independent if you consider them as a super organism. But if you look and each individual ant, they're all very dependent on each other kind of like an actual family is. I find it fascinating, they really are amazing little creatures. I'd say my favorite type of ant is the Camponotus ant. I love how big they are and how they're able to chew through wood with there powerful mandibles and make nests. It's also easy to observe them since they're pretty big ants. P.S. I'm glad you're going to be doing TH-cam full time, what a wonderful opportunity you've got. What I find most interesting about ant keeping is their tendencies in behaviour. Watching them react to certain conditions, situations, etc. is just so fascinating to me. The fact that they, just like us, can have (or at least appear to have) certain emotions tied to certain things, is absolutely phenomenal. I'm only new to this hobby but already I have allowed myself to become completely engrossed in these creatures. You mentioned in your video that your queens seem to have favourites in terms of food, and that is such an interesting behaviour for a small creature thought by many to be mindless and run by instinct alone. They are such intelligent beings, and I feel like many underestimate this feature. Also, I really enjoy the way that they look. It's amazing that, being so closely related, they can appear to be so different from one another. From spines to serrated mandibles, they are so diverse and yet so alluring all the same.
I think the thing that interests me most about ants, is their unity. Their willingness to help. There’s always someone who has your back. When they need to expand their territory, there’s always another ant to help out; thousands at that haha. Kind of like our community. There are several forums & websites packed with people & useful information. A great place to be.

I just got into ant keeping about a year ago. I only have two colonies, but it has been an amazing experience. I personally love how each ant seems to have its own behavior. My tetromorium sp.e colony are so funny to watch. Every time I feed them they come out of the nest so excited for there next me they do little circles around it! They are just the best. I am hoping to expand my colonies even more next year.
What I find most interesting about ants is how it feels like you are building a town. This then turns into a city, I can chose where they live, what they eat, and what they do. I highly suggest keeping ants for this very reason, and this is also why I enjoy keeping them!

The most interesting thing about ants for me is that they are social insects. I just love watching them manage there own selves and there action towards to their colony. They only do things that will help the colony grow and I really found it really amazing.
I find the behaviour of ants to be the most interesting. I love seeing how all different species such as pheidole, carebara, camponotus and odontomachus all differ in their hunting techniques, not only as a species as a whole, but as they develop from a small colony of a few nanitics, all the way to a mature colony. I also love witnessing the diversity of each ant, how they all like to do their own thing while doing jobs or defending the nest. Keep up the good work Jordan!
Great work Jordan and team! Thrilled to hear about the expansion of Ants Australia, ant keeping just got a little more awesome. It's so hard to pick a favourite or most interesting thing about ants, there are so many things! I think at least one of the most interesting is definitely their social structures, the way that each species seems to have their own unique way of communicating from pheromones to movements, the different roles each type of ant within a colony has and the way they interact and go about their duties not to mention how they interact with other colonies and species.
I am fascinated by ants because of the way they cooperate with each other perfectly, and they also have personalities which like us every ant is different, how one ant choses its favorite nest site and how she thinks that its the perfect spot for the broods, and how another ant disagrees, ants also have 'feelings', like the way care for their brood like a mother's love and how they defend their nest like a soldier's loyalty. That is why ants has fascinated me for years.
The most interesting thing about ants to me is their mood swings. Like the fact that they can go from butchering and devouring a grass-hopper, to tenderly caring for their eggs, pupae, and larvae, etc.

Many thanks for another high quality video on ants. Congrats on taking up full-time role as a TH-camr! WHY ARE ANTS FASCINATING? I LOVE the diversity of ant morphology!! From the big head pheidole, camponontus "honeypot" repletes, fearless myrmecia, colourful rhytidoponera, to the weaving oecophylla. We are quite fortunate, to have such beautiful diversity of ants in Australia. When I show these features of ants to the curious, I can easily convince them that not all ants are pests, and that ant keepers are not weirdos, but instead, very sophisticated... :P
When I was a kid, I was mostly amazed by all the different nest types of ants, as I love architecture. Anthills, nests in wood, the parking and pavement nests, Leafcutter ant leaf nests, all these wonders of buildings and innovation were amazing to me. The moment I started researching and knowing ever so more about their complex lifes, I was in love with ants forever!
What fascinates me most about ants is their hive mind, and impressive nest building skills. Since I became interested in this hobby, I have always thought it interesting that these ants, through natural instict alone can know things that most humans wouldn’t even think of. Like how, from birth, ants know how to tend aphids, and areable to measure humidity. It’s also fascinating in how clean and sanitary the ants nests are. I’ll be honest, if I wasn’t such a klutz and hadn’t spilled dirt into their test tube, or left sand in their out world then they would have a cleaner room than me. I also think it is interesting that these dudes have a sort of hive conscienceness that can control a nest without a real leader, or the queen is really more of a slave.
What interests me most about ants, is their ability to adapt to so many circumstances, (especially ants that live in Melbourne, due to the weather changing every 5 minutes) they just get on with their lives and deal with what ever situation arises! Kinda inspiring
Dear Jordan and the Ants Australia team, I find ants extradinary organisms. I am obsessed with them. I find the most interesting thing about them is the socailogy involved. Everytime I look at one of my ant colonies or an ant outside or at school, I always think about our human societies and how you can make the better. I always ponder how Ants have done so well. They share with one another and they put there colony before themselves. This is amazing example of civic virtue which is so hard to come across nowadays. I always think how us as humans can make the world a better place by applying this to our everyday lives. Giving to the poor or less fortunate, helping someone cross the road who might have problems doing it, holding the door for someone, or just saying how are you when you encounter a friend or aquantance. Looking at ants, I always think that it is a good way to think about how can you become a better person, how can you help people, and how can you make someone's or something's life easier. Don't be the taker all the time, start being a giver. Ants are always givers to the rest of there colony. They would die for there colony. They would die to protect there young. They would die to help another. They put their lives at risk to get a protein source, water, or carbohydrate. If we lived like that (minus the death) the world would be that much better. Life isn't about solving a issue. Life is about chipping away at that issue. Life is about making someone else's life whether in the future or present better even if it means its harder for you or less accesible. Life isn't about making yourself the best. Life isn't judged on how great your life was or at least I would like to think that. Good people and admirable people who go throughout history on a small scale or a big scale are remembered on what good and bad they did. The exact thing is not remembered always, but the effect is always. Like ants, the single ant that dies for it's colony isn't going to be remembered, but the effect that it posed, from the first nanatic to the tankiest super major was impacted by that ant giving it's life for the colony. THAT IS WHAT'S IMPORTANT. I think about that everytime I look at an ant. Whether it's in my kitchen, backyard, front yard, patio, school, resturant, or anywhere else on this beautiful planet. We can all learn from ants, that a rising tide lifts all ships! Thank you so much.

I love ants mostly because they work together so well. It's like all sorts of little pieces that are put together and form one unity. I also like watching how do they collect food, move to another setup, etc.
I really agreed with your statement of keeping native ants ! So I watched your video about how to catch and take care of a queen ant. I waited patiently and went out every night to look for nuptial queens, finally I caught a Lasius Niger queen and now I have my first anitics !!
To the contest question i find it amazing how ants make decisions and move like busy non stop traffic. The way ants make decisions are just amazing, if they want to vote on moving location, that one ant moves and others may or may not follow, once the majority sets in the vote is over, everyone is convinced on the change. The queen doesn't even have a large vote on what goes on, she just stays protected and well fed. And with how ants move busy, its just fascinating how smooth there transportation is, no crashes or road blocks, everyone moves as individuals but act as one being, just fascinating!
my favourite part of ants is the enjoyment of growing a colony from just a queen where they just lay eggs and slowly grow where i enjoy watching things like these grow in population which gives me a sense of achievment. also i love these videos alot:)
I think what I like most about ants is their social behaviors. Ants are incredibly social with their sisters and work together like a super organism. They have adapted and changed according to their environment which is amazing. Something to be added to this is how they look big and bad but has a soft side as well, as said in the video. I love being a part of the ant keeping community most! While collecting and keeping a wide variety of species is amazing and super interesting, I love being able to post about my colonies and know that other people around the world are really interested in them! And seeing videos of Bull Ants like these are super interesting as they are a species I will likely never be able to own!
Ants are awesome because each colony is has their own personality they react to problems in different ways, they can by shy they can be bold they can even be a little crazy and you get to watch them every step of the way as they grow from a single queen to a full colony.
The most interesting thing about ants to me is Their social structure and how every ant has a role and how the role changes as the ant gets older. I am knew to ant keeping we studied entomology at school and started collecting queens but I just love learning about insects and reason why I find ants interesting is because I enjoy seeing inside the nests of borrowing creatures and watching the way ants work together in their colonies. The most interesting thing about ants is their hivemind. They function like one organism. Every colony is a own living thing with thousands of individuals who giving everything they have to keep the colony running. I have seen ants work better together then most other species on the planet. And we can learn many things about the true power of working together while keeping a ant colony. I find ants fascinating because that 1 single queen can care for her workers until they are able to care for her which they do so well that will give their lives for her because without her the whole colony will slowly die out and that they show amazing amounts of team work between each individual member which is like a cell in the human body that is why I am so fascinated by ants. What most interests me about ants is their way of life. There are other insects that live in communities and work together, but none quite the way ants do. I love how they allocate their workers, using only a few ants to hunt and forage while most stay home and care for the young, getting their food from trophallaxis. I also find it so interesting that the Queen can live for years and years but most workers live only to be a month or a few months old!
What I love about ants is how they grow. Hatch, and take care of eachother. How they work together no matter what. Not a lot of people can be passionate about their look. But I certainly am. My favourite aspect of ants are that their understanding behaviour and as kooky and amazing as people so that’s thx and your doing amazing on TH-cam you have been a massive insparation you are the best!
What I think is most interesting about ants are they behavior. At a small colony you can track each of your ants' movements, and each ant is on a different mission, to find food, tend to the queen, fight invaders, etc. Ants are very interesting creatures and are really smart!

For a couple of years I was bullied and occasionally I still am and I was really depressed. Over time I was watching a ton of animal videos like crabs,spiders,scorpions,moles and all sorts of random stuff and then I came across...YOU and I just loved the way not only you narrated the ants but the way they acted and worked in different ways. When I was younger I was a very imaginative type and I saw ants as different species of warriors like orcs, humans,elves and dwarfs all with their unique attack functions and techniques and I just loved the fact that they were going through day to day struggles and worked so hard... and then I linked that with myself. How these beings had struggles just like I did and I realised that they had feelings too. I instantly subbed and started supporting the channel and never really knew the wonders these creatures beheld. I was astounded. So now I want the nest to help me start a colony of my own this summer. That way when I’m down I can look up to these amazing beings of the undergrowth and I can always learn a thing or too along the way. It’s not just about me though I want to sustain a colony and help it flourish in return for some mental help. I have heard that they are very good for mental problems. Therefor I want to enter this competition to do all that.

I love how the ants interact with each other and the environmental factors like how I have found meat ants fighting over a dead bird but weren’t killing each other as much as I thought it must be because they were focusing on making the colony bigger
For me the most interesting thing about ants is the tunnels that they make and how flexible they can be with living conditions. Recently me and my father went to uproot a tree that had termites in it, but when we knocked it down we found that all of the termites had been killed and the nest was adopted by solenopsis invictia ants. As far as we could see they didn't change a thing. They just started living there.

Ants are extraordinarily fascinating creatures! I myself am most interested in ant keeping because of the way the work together, all a well oiled machine working towards a common goal. It's amazing to think about how they beat us to many things we thought were only for highly intelligent, social creatures! But what we all overlook is ants are highly intelligent creatures! Just think about it, the way invasive ants spread like wildfire out of human control, or the fact that ants outnumber humans more than 1 million to 1! They are amazing to watch, and an exceptional experience to start a colony yourself! You get to create a little civilization out of nothing, feed them, care for them, provide them with living space! This experience is not found anywhere else. I also particularly love the planning side of it. Planning ahead and ordering formacariums for test tube colonies then designing their outworlds to fit them! All of these experiences can never be found elsewhere! I also love watching them forage when they first get a new outworld, you see them wandering up to certain things, investigating, and moving on to the next thing. One last thing that interests me about ant keeping is that you can collect different species and realize how diverse ants are. It's like getting to know a new person as you discover all of their preferences and personality. That is the final thing I love about ant keeping, thanks to anyone who took the time to read this entire thing all the way to the bottom!!!

What interests me about ants is their unity. It's so amazing how they work together as one to get things done, how they can build bridges and rafts with their bodies, how they go out of their way to help other ants or clean another ant if they are dirty, their unity and cohesion is one of the main reason that i love ants.
What I love about ants is their loyalty, because no matter what the ants will always be in one. Death doesn't matter to the ants, what matters is the survival of their colony. It is fascinating to see the ants working together.

Ant keeping to me feels like you're watching a whole state build up and progress in a short period of time. In my opinion, leaf cutter ants are the most fascinating species. I love watching them forage in such an organized way. Every ant has its role to play.
I have been watching Ants Australia for over a year now and if I win the giveaway I will let my camponotus ligniperdus colony occupy the nest, it was my first colony and currently has 7 workers and a lot of brood. I believe they belong to the prettiest species in europe and I love watching them feed and nurture their brood.

Hi Jorden, First of all thank you for being such a good antuber, whenever I come back from a long tiring day of school I would always check if you had a new video out and when it did it would be like Christmas came early, your photography skills are top notch and your narration is soothing. The thing that interests me the most about Ants are how they interact with one another. Most people just think ants are a pest but when you really look at them, they all have distinct personalities and interactions, that's what I love about Ants.

Absolutely awesome video! Loved every minute of it. Great camera and video work. I have always loved ants. My father was an entomologist and studied butterflies, this maybe why I started looking closer at our smaller friends. I find ants so accessible, always busy, which makes them great to watch and they are achievable pets no matter where you live. If you are in a small apartment you can still have a couple of thousand pet ants. I think ants are fascinating because they contribute so much to life on earth and I don’t think we even realise how much. Watching your videos and seeing your products has reinvigorated my love for ants. Please keep up the great work.

I don't know if I can narrow down what I love about ants to one single thing, but for whatever reason ever since I've stumbled across your videos on TH-cam here, I have been fascinated with them. Watching your videos, watching the videos of other Ant TH-camrs... For some reason it's almost relaxing. Peaceful somehow. I followed your tutorial videos on how to catch a Queen Ant, and how to raise one, and am now the proud owner of a couple colonies of Prolasius Sp. ants. Having one of your Ant Australia Acrylic Nests to move them in to once the colony has grown would be an amazing experience, so I can watch them in my own home. Really looking forwards to watching more of your videos, and excited to see more content with you going Full time with TH-cam.
The majestic being that is the Queen Ant is definitely one of the biggest sources of amazement and mystery. There are so many things about these magnificent creatures that draw my interest whether it be from their colony founding stages or all the way to when they have established a truly mature colony. The fact that they can maintain a colony for years with a single mating session is incredible! I'm only new to ant keeping so I don't have the experience to draw upon however even so, I find myself thinking about my four fully claustral Iridomyrmex queens all the time. When I do visit them, I find myself quickly lose track of time as I watch them stand guard, almost motionless and tend to their eggs. What are they thinking? Are they ready to strike? Do they know I'm here? What are they actually doing when they are tending to their eggs? I find that the more I learn about these queen ants, the less I know. I feel that I have gotten myself into one crazy rollercoaster.

Watching a colony grow, their social learning and every interaction; how every specie is designed with the soul purpose of only helping the colony, their social stomachs, caring nature, egg laying abilities, protecting eachother is just extremely amazing, interesting and fascinating. My favourite genus of ants is Odontomachus. Their mandible-closing speed is definitely one of the reasons why I like them. It also shows that there are so much more to ants then them being small red/black pests. This also led me into the ant keeping hobby as I want to observe the lives of ants which otherwise would go unseen in the wild. I want to experience the joy of the queen having her first nanitics,watch them feed and care for their brood,that is how I found out about Ants Australia. Jordan and the team, I always look forward to your videos as they are always inspirational and full of information needed for people starting out in the ant hobby. My favourite tutorial video has to be the tubs and tubes video. I am pretty sure that video helped people like me that can't get professional formicariums that are too expensive. The video allows us to observe the nesting behaviour of ants using a simpler and cheaper method, instead of getting a formicarium,and that is why I really like that video. The other reason I really like your videos is that I want to explore the species found in Australia, especially the bull and jumping jack ants (Myrmecia sp), which are my dream species. I get to learn about their natural behaviours in your highly informative documentaries even though I can't get them here in Singapore. So I want to thank you guys for helping me in the ant hobby that now I am able to have my own colonies and observe them upclose. Thank you.

What I love about ants most is that they are very satisfying to keep and just fun to watch. I also love not only watching my own small colonies but to just look at wild ants is fun too. To just study and enjoy ants in a way so many don't understand, I wish all could see ants as they really are.
The fact that ants are so diverse and efficient, has always struck me. They are usually overlooked, but much more than they seem. It can be hard for lots of people like me to get an efficient colony growing, so it's always great for a little boost. When observing ants, I've seen how they react with their environment, and the creatures around them. How they react with challenges, and opportunities. It's all so amazing. Ants have managed to get around burning so much energy, gaining so little, yet they grow and grow. Ants have spread through tough terrain across the world. They are a seed to the world of animals, and our interactions with us. Together, us and other creatures can create an amazing world, and ants have helped start it. What interests me most about ant keeping is their nesting behaviors. I had recently attached a Lasius Nigerus colonu in a test tube setup to a small 3D printed nest, while preparing the nest for imhabitance I had cut and left tiny scraps of pla in the nest. The ants then moved all of these tiny pieces to their garbage pile. Even though this behavior is entirely mundane, you don't see this much elsewhere in the insect world, and most people would think of insects as too incompetent to be capable of house keeping, or even the awareness of a mess.

What I really like about ants is that they are kind of like little people you know? they construct there own homes, find there own food, and care for each other. to sum it up, In the wild they're pretty much independent if you consider them as a super organism. But if you look and each individual ant, they're all very dependent on each other kind of like an actual family is. I find it fascinating, they really are amazing little creatures. I'd say my favorite type of ant is the Camponotus ant. I love how big they are and how they're able to chew through wood with there powerful mandibles and make nests. It's also easy to observe them since they're pretty big ants. P.S. I'm glad you're going to be doing TH-cam full time, what a wonderful opportunity you've got. What I find most interesting about ant keeping is their tendencies in behaviour. Watching them react to certain conditions, situations, etc. is just so fascinating to me. The fact that they, just like us, can have (or at least appear to have) certain emotions tied to certain things, is absolutely phenomenal. I'm only new to this hobby but already I have allowed myself to become completely engrossed in these creatures. You mentioned in your video that your queens seem to have favourites in terms of food, and that is such an interesting behaviour for a small creature thought by many to be mindless and run by instinct alone. They are such intelligent beings, and I feel like many underestimate this feature. Also, I really enjoy the way that they look. It's amazing that, being so closely related, they can appear to be so different from one another. From spines to serrated mandibles, they are so diverse and yet so alluring all the same.
I think the thing that interests me most about ants, is their unity. Their willingness to help. There’s always someone who has your back. When they need to expand their territory, there’s always another ant to help out; thousands at that haha. Kind of like our community. There are several forums & websites packed with people & useful information. A great place to be.

I just got into ant keeping about a year ago. I only have two colonies, but it has been an amazing experience. I personally love how each ant seems to have its own behavior. My tetromorium sp.e colony are so funny to watch. Every time I feed them they come out of the nest so excited for there next me they do little circles around it! They are just the best. I am hoping to expand my colonies even more next year.

What I find most interesting about ants is how it feels like you are building a town. This then turns into a city, I can chose where they live, what they eat, and what they do. I highly suggest keeping ants for this very reason, and this is also why I enjoy keeping them!

The most interesting thing about ants for me is that they are social insects. I just love watching them manage there own selves and there action towards to their colony. They only do things that will help the colony grow and I really found it really amazing.
I find the behaviour of ants to be the most interesting. I love seeing how all different species such as pheidole, carebara, camponotus and odontomachus all differ in their hunting techniques, not only as a species as a whole, but as they develop from a small colony of a few nanitics, all the way to a mature colony. I also love witnessing the diversity of each ant, how they all like to do their own thing while doing jobs or defending the nest. Keep up the good work Jordan!
Great work Jordan and team! Thrilled to hear about the expansion of Ants Australia, ant keeping just got a little more awesome. It's so hard to pick a favourite or most interesting thing about ants, there are so many things! I think at least one of the most interesting is definitely their social structures, the way that each species seems to have their own unique way of communicating from pheromones to movements, the different roles each type of ant within a colony has and the way they interact and go about their duties not to mention how they interact with other colonies and species.
I am fascinated by ants because of the way they cooperate with each other perfectly, and they also have personalities which like us every ant is different, how one ant choses its favorite nest site and how she thinks that its the perfect spot for the broods, and how another ant disagrees, ants also have 'feelings', like the way care for their brood like a mother's love and how they defend their nest like a soldier's loyalty. That is why ants has fascinated me for years.
The most interesting thing about ants to me is their mood swings. Like the fact that they can go from butchering and devouring a grass-hopper, to tenderly caring for their eggs, pupae, and larvae, etc.
The most fascinating thing to me about ants, and specifically about raising ant colonies, is that I get an in-depth personal view of the social dynamics of these miniscule insects.

WHY ARE ANTS FASCINATING?
I LOVE the diversity of ant morphology!! From the big head pheidole, camponontus "honeypot" repletes, fearless myrmecia, colourful rhytidoponera, to the weaving oecophylla. We are quite fortunate, to have such beautiful diversity of ants in Australia.
When I show these features of ants to the curious, I can easily convince them that not all ants are pests, and that ant keepers are not weirdos, but instead, very sophisticated... :P

When I was a kid, I was mostly amazed by all the different nest types of ants, as I love architecture. Anthills, nests in wood, the parking and pavement nests, Leafcutter ant leaf nests, all these wonders of buildings and innovation were amazing to me. The moment I started researching and knowing ever so more about their complex lifes, I was in love with ants forever!
What fascinates me most about ants is their hive mind, and impressive nest building skills. Since I became interested in this hobby, I have always thought it interesting that these ants, through natural instict alone can know things that most humans wouldn’t even think of. Like how, from birth, ants know how to tend aphids, and areable to measure humidity. It’s also fascinating in how clean and sanitary the ants nests are. I’ll be honest, if I wasn’t such a klutz and hadn’t spilled dirt into their test tube, or left sand in their out world then they would have a cleaner room than me. I also think it is interesting that these dudes have a sort of hive conscienceness that can control a nest without a real leader, or the queen is really more of a slave.
The this I find the most interesting is: that they always do something new so they are never boring!

I find ants extradinary organisms. I am obsessed with them. I find the most interesting thing about them is the socailogy involved. Everytime I look at one of my ant colonies or an ant outside or at school, I always think about our human societies and how you can make the better. I always ponder how Ants have done so well. They share with one another and they put there colony before themselves. This is amazing example of civic virtue which is so hard to come across nowadays. I always think how us as humans can make the world a better place by applying this to our everyday lives. Giving to the poor or less fortunate, helping someone cross the road who might have problems doing it, holding the door for someone, or just saying how are you when you encounter a friend or aquantance. Looking at ants, I always think that it is a good way to think about how can you become a better person, how can you help people, and how can you make someone's or something's life easier. Don't be the taker all the time, start being a giver. Ants are always givers to the rest of there colony. They would die for there colony. They would die to protect there young. They would die to help another. They put their lives at risk to get a protein source, water, or carbohydrate. If we lived like that (minus the death) the world would be that much better. Life isn't about solving a issue. Life is about chipping away at that issue. Life is about making someone else's life whether in the future or present better even if it means its harder for you or less accesible. Life isn't about making yourself the best. Life isn't judged on how great your life was or at least I would like to think that. Good people and admirable people who go throughout history on a small scale or a big scale are remembered on what good and bad they did. The exact thing is not remembered always, but the effect is always. Like ants, the single ant that dies for it's colony isn't going to be remembered, but the effect that it posed, from the first nanatic to the tankiest super major was impacted by that ant giving it's life for the colony. THAT IS WHAT'S IMPORTANT. I think about that everytime I look at an ant. Whether it's in my kitchen, backyard, front yard, patio, school, resturant, or anywhere else on this beautiful planet.

The thing that interest me most about ants is how it is so fascinating to watch them grow from a single queen into a huge functioning colony. Also I find it so relaxing and intriguing to watch them forage and care for the next generation.
I love ants mostly because they work together so well. It's like all sorts of little pieces that are put together and form one unity. I also like watching how do they collect food, move to another setup, etc.
I really agreed with your statement of keeping native ants ! So I watched your video about how to catch and take care of a queen ant. I waited patiently and went out every night to look for nuptial queens, finally I caught a Lasius Niger queen and now I have my first anitics !!
To the contest question i find it amazing how ants make decisions and move like busy non stop traffic. The way ants make decisions are just amazing, if they want to vote on moving location, that one ant moves and others may or may not follow, once the majority sets in the vote is over, everyone is convinced on the change. The queen doesn't even have a large vote on what goes on, she just stays protected and well fed. And with how ants move busy, its just fascinating how smooth there transportation is, no crashes or road blocks, everyone moves as individuals but act as one being, just fascinating!
my favourite part of ants is the enjoyment of growing a colony from just a queen where they just lay eggs and slowly grow where i enjoy watching things like these grow in population which gives me a sense of achievment.

I think what I like most about ants is their social behaviors. Ants are incredibly social with their sisters and work together like a super organism. They have adapted and changed according to their environment which is amazing. Something to be added to this is how they look big and bad but has a soft side as well, as said in the video. Thanks for making such a detailed video as I learn a lot from it. 😊
I love being a part of the ant keeping community most! While collecting and keeping a wide variety of species is amazing and super interesting, I love being able to post about my colonies and know that other people around the world are really interested in them! And seeing videos of Bull Ants like these are super interesting as they are a species I will likely never be able to own!
Ants are awesome because each colony is has their own personality they react to problems in different ways, they can by shy they can be bold they can even be a little crazy and you get to watch them every step of the way as they grow from a single queen to a full colony.
I think the most impressive thing about ants is the way they work together to get to that one goal the survival of the colony.
The most interesting thing about ants to me is Their social structure and how every ant has a role and how the role changes as the ant gets older. Though I’m also interested by the way some ants use pheromones to see and communicate with one another. Love the channel and can’t wait for the next video.
I am knew to ant keeping we studied entomology at school and started collecting queens but I just love learning about insects and reason why I find ants interesting is because I enjoy seeing inside the nests of borrowing creatures and watching the way ants work together in their colonies. I really love bull ants so thanks for the great video.
The most interesting about ant is that, they are just so unique, every species even colonies has it own behavior, that is different than the other colonies, plus its super duper satisfying to see them eat their meal.

I'm amazed by the number of species you have in this genus alone. Will definitely be subscribing. I always find it fascinating finding channels from different parts of the world, to see the additional varieties of ants that can be kept there.
The most interesting thing about ants is their hivemind. They function like one organism. Every colony is a own living thing with thousands of individuals who giving everything they have to keep the colony running. I have seen ants work better together then most other species on the planet. And we can learn many things about the true power of working together while keeping a ant colony.

I find ants fascinating because you can interact with their society help them make their colony from scratch... I find particularly amazing and absolutely fascinating that they can react to you like you show in the video they relate being feed with your presence...is extremely beautiful...
I find ants fascinating because that 1 single queen can care for her workers until they are able to care for her which they do so well that will give their lives for her because without her the whole colony will slowly die out and that they show amazing amounts of team work between each individual member which is like a cell in the human body that is why I am so fascinated by ants. I love the fact that ants are so small compared to humans and jet poses a lot more qualities that most of us! I am always amazed by their strength and the way they gather every one together for any task that needed to be done.Thank you for all the nice videos and sharing of all does species of ants I have never seen before!
My favourite part about ants is seeing them in the nests. Watching them tend to the brude and around in their highways in the nest is cool to see.

If it wasn't for all you do, I wouldn't finally have a small founding colony of Camponotus in a THA setup. I hope that one day I will be able to get some of your amazing formicarium! What most interests me about ants is their way of life. There are other insects that live in communities and work together, but none quite the way ants do. I love how they allocate their workers, using only a few ants to hunt and forage while most stay home and care for the young, getting their food from trophallaxis. I also find it so interesting that the Queen can live for years and years but most workers live only to be a month or a few months old!

What I think is most interesting about ants are they behavior. At a small colony you can track each of your ants' movements, and each ant is on a different mission, to find food, tend to the queen, fight invaders, etc. Ants are very interesting creatures and are really smart!
