Lucas Peterson seems like one of the most genuine people you could ever hope to meet, he seems like (and I am sure he is) such a nice guy, I subscribed to Eater just because of how much of a skillful presenter he is.
Lucas, I appreciate that you don't use hyperbole and excessive language when describing the food. You're reactions seem more genuine while still communicating how delicious it is.
I started watching Dining on a Dime early this year and was telling my cousin of all the places. He was so amazed considering I live in Pakistan and he's lived in Austin all his life. I'm saving up for a foodie tour across America. Kudos to Lucas (and Eater) for such a well executed series!
I love that you mentioned the lawn man. I have so much going on around my house that when I am making cooking videos, I have just given up on Mondays....or as I call it, hell. Garbage trucks, Recycle Trucks, Gardeners, Street sweepers. All that, plus the airport. I feel ya. Hey, come check out my cooking, and lets food trip!
Lucas please bring the series to Toronto. We don't have dishes that define our city, but the diversity of food that our multicultural communities can offer will surely draw you in.
food is pretty much the embodiment of a culture and it's history, so why not give a quick lesson. now i understand why i love al pastor tacos so much, it is in relation to why i like Mediterranean food so much.
I think Bu7MaiD075 is upset because 1) Lucas is better at everything than him/her or 2) See option 1. Great episode as usual Lucas! You rock! And FRIED AVOCADO!!! Sweet Lord in heaven. Yassss!
As much as I love Lucas' show, I'm not sure if he's such a nice guy or because every place that he has been to has been flawless, but it would be nice to hear some criticism from time to time!
Good comment. We vet and scout our locations ahead of time with the support of our Eater editors in each city. So, we're not so much getting lucky as we are picking places that we know will be great. Why eat bad food, you know?
How many languages does Lucas Peterson speak? Edit: Looks like he speaks Spanish, Dutch, Mandarin, German, and French in varying levels of proficiency.
Wow these Tacos look so fresh and amazing. Love these kind of Success stories. Keep doing your thing, love your content. Better than the food network 100%.
live in ATX and there is no shortage of MexiFood Trucks that kill it. also about 500 kickass mom n pop dive ass MexiFood joints brick & mortar that also kill it. Yum.
how big is that big ass bird, anyway!? My dining on a dime fix this week and I blame you for taco craving right now... like really really really really really really really really really really really really really really
There's a family who sells barbacoa tacos with handmade corn tortillas at the farmers market in Round Rock next to the REI. 10/10 would grab a Big Red with them and take a siesta.
I’ve never had a taco in Austin made with REAL HOMEMADE tortillas. That is ESSENTIAL for tacos. If you want real tacos and real tortillas, come and hour south to San Antonio. Next.
I over tacos! Nom! ... the Lebanese may have brought the technique of braising the meat vertically, but seasoned spiced meats tamed by sweetness has been part of the middle eatern/spaniard/south American tradition for centuries, the "taco" or flauta being part of native history for longer. Stuffed bread foods/recipes originates from all corners of the world, each carrying its own history. You should do more in the history of filled breads. *geek alert* lol!
I lived in Austin for many years in the early 2000s I was never impressed with the Mexican food, believe me Mexican food hardly ever uses cheese on top of everything, even the authentic taquerias weren't that good, I relocated to south Cali and the Mexican food is way better, but I do love Austin and I miss it so I go visit two times a year, always hit Whataburger, Blacks bbq, and other places
Its funny cuz nearly all the shout outs for best taco places in the austin tx are whitebread establishmnts where no self respecting mexicano would darken doorway....tacodeli....torchts...next your gonna talk bout flour tortillas!
Definitely not a taco town. In fact, most tacos are underwhelming in Austin unless you hit up Valentina's for a brisket taco.. Which is technically a BBQ joint. Please don't ever claim that Austin's tacos are better than its barbecue!
Seriously dude.. @ the host guy..you're the go-to critic on youtube. let's do Sydney when you get a chance. josh [at]hotmailcomau...ill take you round. let's do it Eater
Good God people can't I get a good old fashioned americanized taco with ground beef lettuce sour cream and some fake ass shredded cheddar cheese I don't need avocado or vinaigrette on my gringo tacos
"Would you let me sample your fish taco?" Erm....
lmao
The look into the camera and slight smile as he said it was perfect.
Yes, you have the ability to read back the obvious cringeworthy, trying-2-hrd, and coming off like 12 year old boy. Congrats, you win the internetz!
i realize it's kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch newly released series online?
Lucas....you are smooth with your pick up lines. I'll have to remember that one.

I love Lucas Peterson.
That is all.
Baby J Why? No enthusiasm...
Nick Smith because he's genuine and straight to the point. He doesn't have this fake personality that other hosts do.
Lucas definitely got her number!

As much as I love Lucas' show, I'm not sure if he's such a nice guy or because every place that he has been to has been flawless, but it would be nice to hear some criticism from time to time!

That's very commendable; I like the positivity.
I like how you find the good in everything... might not always be that the food is the best.. but there's still something good to be mentioned.
He does have criticisms with the food he eats... He's just not a dick about it
don't think that's the point of this series

Great series! Keep it up!
The standard taco that all trailers must put forth to compete in Austin is bistec, maiz tortilla, con cebolla y cilantro .
Those last two are dreamland tacos
Born and raised in Downtown ATX, we are a taco town. No debate.
kid rock! beside him! lmao! awesome avocado taco!
Ohh, I so miss Austin, my hometown. Colorado is great, but the tacos, heck, the food in general doesn't come close.
