Michelin award of any kind for this type of operation is a major shift, and can only mean great things for the future. So happy these small operations creating amazing food are getting the credit they have long deserved. More power to you all!
Tacos have become the modern day lobster. They used to be an affordable bite for the poor working class and now that they're mainstream, they've been gentrified to the point that tacos can be worth as much as $6. I'm glad my culture is getting this kind of recognition, but paying $4-$6 for a taco is wack.
@@j.armand1363 yes and no, inflation is causing the prices to come up, not the fact that they are mainstream. Tacos have always been mainstream, mexican food is just getting more recognized as a culinary art. I live in SoCal, i can find $1.50 or $2.00 tacos anywhere... but i will spend $6 on a bomb taco with prime meats or seafood if i want to treat myself. They both have their place in the world.
Damn those blue tortillas look fire!!! When I was a kid, I would accompany my dad to the Grand Central Market. There was tortilla spot that made fresh tortillas every time I would pass by or just stand at the front while my dad bought his lottery ticket. It was always mesmerizing to see that conveyor belt spit out the round colors from that cookie cutter. It's no longer there but instead it's a liquor store of some sort but that memory is embedded in this Angeleno
Villa Tacos has come a long way from working out from their home to then hitting the streets on York Blvd in highland park to getting their store front to becoming Michelin rated…
In Los Angeles, tacos aren't merely meals; they're expressions of art and competitive sport. The city offers a unique harmony of old recipes and fresh perspectives, creating a culinary landscape brimming with flavor. Here, tortillas aren't just containers for fillings; they become canvases where flavors mingle in perfect union. To understand LA's taco scene is to understand what makes the city itself so singularly special. We don't just consume these delicious creations; we live them! 🌮
they mainly are a staple in Mexican households, dating back to Nahua/Aztec civilizations of our Indigenous ancestors. we eat tacos every day, moreso tortillas. not just an "LA scene" thing. it is one of the main essence of our meals morning, lunch and dinner.

Villas tacos, are pretty good. The owner himself, works there and greets everyone with a smile on his face, including everyone else. If you’re thinking of visiting, don’t hesitate and give it a try.
We dont have any good Mexican Taco’s here in Sydney Australia! If only just one good cook came here to start up a restaurant or food truck... you’d make a killing!

Felicidades, hermano. Saludos desde Brooklyn, Nueva York. We could use your great tacos out here. Not everyone can make traditional tacos. Food trucks are a hit or miss. Continued success.
Going a little off course is the best thing one can do. Everyone thinks to be a taquero and successful taqueria to have to follow the same formula 99.9% of taquerias do but it’s the 1% who don’t corner themselves and choose to do their own thing that get recognized.
I miss Southern California I was born and raised there, moved to Utah in 2017 when I was 23 years old. There’s no authentic Mexican food here… I miss SoCal 😢
"for our asada, we use ranchera" that first guy didn't grow up in Mexico, is obvious because that phrase doesn't make sense at all, he probably meant that for the carne asada they use Arrachera, a meat cut, not ranchera, saying ranchera doesn't make sense within that statement.

Ill never fully understand why anyone holds the opinion of a tire company in such high regard. Thats like a logging company awarding a bakery for excellent spatula usage.
If the bakery used timber to fire their ovens and the spatula company used charcoal from the timber company to forge its steel maybe. Michelin wanted to sell more tires, what a better way to get people to use them than suggesting they drive to another city to try some good food.
It started as a guide for truckers to know where they can stop to have good food (tires and trucks are related, right?), and for some reason, rich and snob people started to go to the restaurants recomended in the guide.
Also the Guinness records thing started as a way to solve trivia discussions between bar patrons. The idea was for every bar to have a book published by Guinness.

At least the people making these tacos are still coming from the heart and love for their culture. They deserve success.
I think there is space for the $2 street taco and the $8 Michelin-recognized taco in the culinary landscape. They can be mutually inclusive.
@@bryanflo4500 I agree, but inflation is also driving prices up.
