When the album first came out the song was titled "Diamond Life" (first two words of the song) was changed later to the recurring refrain). I was in my 30's when she showed up; she's fabulous.

She's listed as a Soul & Blues artist . She said in an interview she consider her style jazz soul fusion based. Whatever genre she's categorised in it doesn't matter she sings like an angel.

Beautiful music beautiful woman my favorite kind of musical legends are the ones who can look beyond themselves and make a statement that makes people realize in their heart and soul the beauty and the pain that we all experience in our lives and helps us realize that we are all inhabitants of planet Earth and its our responsibility to help and Love each other in any possible way we can

Welcome to my generation (I'm over 60) young man. Try to listen to Sade from the beginning--without talking--just listen. Learn to feel. My generation cannot relate to your generation because we had no choice but to feel...deeply. Your lives now are easy. You don't know the pain of real global poverty, segregation, Jim Crow, etc. Sade sings and writes from a time in life that you will never know or even truly understand. Just listen to her every pause, every verse, every whisper. It's the sound of our people and our pain from around the African diaspora. Our pain cuts and hurts like brand new shoes. Continue your intellectual journey into understanding who we once were but were discarded by millennials.

This has to be the most beautiful song I've heard. I heard this in a sample the rap duo $uicideboy$ and I listened to it by itself. This is the only song in this genre that actually made me feel great amounts of emotion.

I see I am late witnessing your reaction to this song and I also see your reaction to this song is solitary. A reaction with little commentary is not boring by the way because you communicate
with your expressions of delightful discovery and that goes well beyond words when sharing the love of song. Thanks again.

Please look up the reason Sade made this song. It is extremely important to accept the invitation to understand the reason behind so many Artists' hard work. It is not always purely for melody's sake. Sade uses her voice to give the world a message and it's our job to find out what that message is. This song is about a specific event that took place in 1992 that most Americans don't even know about or remember. "Hurts like brand new shoes." Typically, people born in first-world countries will never experience the kind of pain described in this song. The pain of brand new shoes is the worst pain many people might feel on a given day in more fortunate countries and therefore have only that to compare. It is an example of first-world-problems complicating our ability to comprehend or even take notice as others in the world suffer real pain, hunger, and loss on a daily basis. Please, if you're going to react to music, make part of your video show your curiosity regarding the lyrics sparking a quest for knowledge of the message, and record yourself researching the facts so we can learn with you.

She's another artist I enjoy. Her, Whitney, Michael, Janet, Mary J, Stevie, etc.
As said before, I listen to mostly the R and B type of music, but I learned recently that many songs that I enjoy are either by Motown artists or are also influenced by them.

If you want a great song from back in the day, check out "Summer Madness- extended mix" by Kool & the Gang. Same guys who did "Get down On It" & "Celebrate Good Times" cranked out one of the best R&B instrumentals ever. Was in the first "Rocky" movie.
