    Takes a lot of balls for a salesman to agree to that. He was willing to put his tools to the test and he failed but even though his tool failed, it saved a lot in replacement parts vs the one failure

    What these sockets can benefit from is an extension to assist with hammering. I'm not talking about a regular 3/8 extension in the square drive either. But an extension that also slips around the entire socket, and has a nice dished end to protect your hand while you hammer it.

    A good salesman can sell anything but a great salesman can admit when their product doesn’t get the job done regardless glad to see they don’t just show the positive but show that sometimes the product doesn’t get the job done for whatever reason

    There is always the right tool for the job. Sometimes that tool is an RBRT extractor and sometimes it's the cutting torch, other times it's the compactor at the salvage yard. That bolt in the tensioner is ready for the compactor at the salvage yard.

  • @chriswebb3018
    @chriswebb3018 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This shows that even though the rbrt sockets are great that you should still have different styles of extractor sockets/ tools. Sometimes rbrt works great other times you need turbo sockets, Gearwrench ones, astro flank bite. Because there are other factors like the size of the socket for clearance, some are really fat and durable like rbrt and others are thin like the turbo sockets. Also ive used a file to square up a bolt that's been stripped really bad so the extractor can bite better.

    The Irwin Hanson’s that Snap On rebrands have worked the best for me up here in the rust belt. Tried the Craftsman’s before that (the cheaper versions, not the Turbo Sockets), but they rounded out. Hanson’s are still going strong.
    I believe the Hanson’s are made from the same high carbon steel process they use on their taps. The only thing that would hold up better for extraction would be S2 tool steel, but that would be more expensive and well made high carbon steel will get a higher hardness than bolt material anyway.

    @koontrucking on the bolt that was the first and only that ive seen that it hasn't worked on, I would of welded a nut, maybe a washer then nut of the same size and then tried it, if it was for a real repair and not just as a extreme test, or that's when you try to bust out the knipex cobras and start wrenchin

      @@brettwalkom948 if these didn't, I'm almost certain twist sockets wouldn't have, that head was at a very odd angle, and rbrt will grab pretty much everything, that was the only bolt head ive ever seen it not work on out of every demo ive seen, in person and every TH-cam channel beside this one.

    Seeing that the bolt is trashed and the pulley is as well I would just weld a nut onto the destroyed bolt and put a wrench on it.

      They are no different in the open end than any other Mac wrench. Same style. The magic is the box end

    That pulley with the extreme rounded bolt which the Mac tool failed. I want to see snap-on Friday to use the FDX socket to try to remove it. Let’s get snappy to get a chance to try.

      The FDX is the socket he had at the beginning of the video on his test block. It would not remove the bolt either. We tried it

  • @EATSLEEPFARM

    Wow...no 19mm or 3/4? What’s up with that? On the bolt it wouldn’t remove on the tensioner or whatever it was should’ve used a buffer and smoothed it out that way those burrs weren’t restricting the socket.
