    And now one last number -- 10. As in ten years needed for most of those to be implemented. Also, that some of them will never be in game is a fairly safe bet.

      It wont take that long, thankfully. Many of the devs working on SQ42 have now moved back to the PU which will make it happen a lot faster :)

    Life Support regulations upon ship builders in the UEE would plausibly mandate some amount of redundancy for both safety and and to prevent some of those Cold Equations style emergency considerations. So while a single seat fighter may well not have much excess life support, almost anything with an interior ought to have enough capacity for at least one extra person. Furthermore, even if a big ship is running over its long term capacity, that ambient volume of breathable gasses ought to gradually decay into a less breathable mixture of gasses, not fall off a cliff into a room of instantly gasping fish lying on the deck. For emergencies a supplementary life support generator (size 0 power/size 0 life support module combo) might be imagined.

    I feel like the whole, needing to change armor just to fly a ship is a bit excessive, a real time sink when you have to worry about pvp and people boarding your ship. I feel like if there are any advantages at all it should just be small like, taking off your helmet increases visibility. Also if you cannot re-equip armor while in thr pilot seat, so you have to stop your ship (possibly mid battle) just to put a helmet on. And if you forget, then use the emergency eject, thrn congratulations you just suffocated yourself.

    If you are not prepared for these changes you lived under a rock. Most of these things are spoken about for years. It comes down to stuff like bigger ships need more crew, you need to maintain your ships and loosing a ship or even life will have a meaning. You don't want to loose a ship or die. Death of a Spacemen, Engineering, Resource Management this game is going to be crazy fun when you need to think ahead op what you are doing.

      Yeah I am not excited about death of a spaceman. Maybe if the server was more stable but I die to so many idiotic things in the daily course of doing anything that if there were repercussions I would quit the game. For example, I was doing the 890 rescue mission, destroyed the intercepting space ships and was ready to board the 890 jump. While floating over to the 890 (still outside the 890) I noticed there were only 2 bullets in my magazine and shot both rounds to initiate a reload. Well those two rounds were apparently too close towards the remaining crew inside the 890 jump, criminal level jumped two levels. After I land all the criminal hijackers AND the crew fire at me and my criminal level continues to jump when I defended myself. My next death sent me to prison and hours of prison time to serve. Just too many bugs to seriously consider death of a spaceman.
      I can’t defend myself and hitting an 890 jump with a SMG round is a level 2 criminal offence. Yeah, death of a spaceman has a lot of potential to be too infuriating and drive folks off.

      Except that all it takes is a few minutes on Spectrum to realize how many players are ignoring these changes which is shocking especially with Engineering coming soon most likely. One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video. The past two years there's been an explosion of Carrack owners, yet these people don't realize what that really means. Like the guy who got pirated soloing a Carrack and then complained to CIG about grieifing. Everyone wants to be the Captain, but the problem is going to be no one wants to be the support roles except in Orgs. There is a lot of discontent coming once these realities set in. If their smart they'll do what I did and every ship I own seats two people at most or is viable solo as I am not going to run an Org. Unless you are going to run an Org or be a high ranking officer you shouldn't own a large ship.

    Jump Drives use Quantum fuel and are not isolated components. They are attached to the Quantum drive. Check the QT drive on most ships and you see an empty space above it.

      Most ships in the game now have one, but there are a few of the smaller ones that do not. I am not sure if there is a list somewhere that identifies which do not. I will have to look around :)

      I don't believe this is correct. This would work if it were the same for every ship but no fighters have that, plus we're still missing the Life support, Grav Gen, Flight Control/Avionics, Radar, and there might be others I'm missing. Looking at the Suylen components it had 2 empty spots in that main area there might have been more up by the flight seat but I don't remember them showing them off.
      I swear I also saw a rendering that actually had the place of the fuel tanks for the Zeus mkII but I cannot seem to find it.
      All in all the fuel tank is not actually an interchangeable component... Unless it is a Kraken because they replaced one of the fuel tanks with more crew habs on the privateer I believe... Also the Starfarer.
      EDIT: Looking at the C1 and with Crusader being the Double D of the manufacturers and labeling EVERYTHING, I can say now, without a doubt, that op is wrong. The Qdrive is labeled as just a Qdrive.

    Kraken.. a mobile base for crew and ships, take it where you need too and use it for your ships to refuel fix and a place to rest

      Mobile base is key here, so many people think the 10 crew requirement will be enough to operate this ship. I’d suggest that 10 requirement is a minimum to man necessary stations. Then you consider pilots and crew for the ships on the pads and at the very least you will want a security team in addition to those 10 managing their posts/stations. I think anything less than 20-25 people per kraken is unrealistic unless you’re being extremely cautious about the system you’re in and threat level.

      @@vital-wyn1310 we will see .. some people will use them as a personal base and you can have a skeleton crew just to pilot it.. the possibility of someone finding it put in space will almost impossible unless you have cords once in its set place you don't need ten to run it .. just the person's or two running and fixing the general things it needs.. other than that spawning vehicles to go out on missions does not need 20 people either..

      @@danny1988221 not discounting the dream, personally if that’s the play style you are looking for I’d recommend a Liberator. But time will tell and personally I’d love to be able to fly a kraken around, it very well may be my favorite ship.

    I think you missed one more aspect of the new radar tech; specialised radar. What you described were changes that are common to all ships but what is coming will also mean that ships will see things related to the ships function eg a Freelancer will not get detailed results of Salvage & Ore composition but the Vulture & Prospector will. The explorers like the Carrack & 400i will scan for things that non-explorers cannot though it is unsure what those might be (new wormholes? Planet geology? Animal life?) They might also see the same as Mining ships so they can find new sources of minerals and sell the info to miners. The original plans for the Cutlass Red spoke of a scanner dedicated to finding medical beacons at longer ranges so perhaps all ships will be able to answer a rescue beacon but will only be directed to the general area then must look for the precise beacon while the Cutlass Red will find it quicker (but, unlike now, the Red will not see mineral deposits)

    Pretty aware of most of these but I hope when we prep our ships, it isn’t too cumbersome. For example I’m happy to load supplies and goods into my ship manually but I want a way to transfer them supplies to individual storage areas from my hangar/cargo bay by way of ship inventory screen. IE bottles and food into fridges, guns in racks and suits in suit storage. Manual moving this is going to get tiresome, so I’m looking forward to an inventory ship system.

    Finally someone has adressed the Maelstrom in the right way. Some people have complained that CIG didn't show physicalized ship armor at CitCon, but most probably that is whaw Maelstrom is

    We all should not forget it’s still a Game not a pure simulator. There is a line between fun and not and if everything gets to realistic than I don’t think it’ll be fun anymore

      This is a great question, but I do know my in-game FOV is above 80. I have to check to share the exact value. However, I run 5120x1440p normally, but for this video it is at 3840x1440, so hopefully its not too jarring.

    I know all this but based on what i heard on citcon so will we be able to fly in any type of armour but depending on type so will you have less field of view.

      Yes, that is what was said as I remember it as well. I am not sure, but based on other statements it seems some ships may have more restrictions on this. Time will tell though

    Ok, so Ship composition being important suddenly makes so much sense to how it could tie into Vulture salvaging.
    So the armor acts as the real mechanics to the damage of hull, and probably have crumple zones, and Vulture just shows that damage, by literally stripping ships layer by layer.
    I really don't know what money loop i want, but I know if I get a vulture and replace prospector, I wont be able to go back 😂😭

      Been waiting years for it.
      Salvaging broken and abandoned ships has been the most exciting for me since we could play.
      Got an SRV to go with it.
      But CIG making mechanics to prevent trolling and grieifng, puts false blockers on cleaning up the verse.

    A jump drive is a Quatum Drive modification that stabilizes the QD to allow it to jump through wormholes. QD fuel should be used for jumping systems. Watch astro historian on the history of star citizen

    Having to replenish life support systems will make it feel so much more immersive.
    Giving they do it right, that is. Not like the current placeholder refuel and repair mechanic.

      Medical officers would be in charge of life support, imagine a panel to display that info that you have to walk up to to view in real time. Can't wait

    Nice video and an extremely relevant point to be made before going into IAE starting tomorrow. We all want to be the hero but this game is meant to be a sim not a single player command and conquer combat game. There is gonna be a big difference between having enough crew to fly a ship and having enough to make full use of what it offers.

I remember when people were confidently saying "Blah blah change dramatically in 2016" and then nothing happen besides will realized CIG once again completely faked the video of gameplay mechanics they claimed were right around the corner.

      Difference is now is that when people were babbling about changes back then people were expecting CIG to snap there fingers and create the tech they needed in a matter of months and implement it into the PU and now after cit con they have shown that the tech is real and developed and actively being tested im sure some of these things might be a couple years off but a lot of systems are gonna be in players hands sooner than we all think especially with some man power being taken off squadron 42 and being moved to the PU they can start porting the tech over for PU use and testing

    You make it sound almost impossible to manage a ship with the video layout, i dont think it will be this "hard" many many players are playing solo, and cig knows this, with npc, blades etc, you will for sure be able to manage a larger ship solo. People will demand that.

      True indeed, and you are 100% correct. Eventually we'll get NPC crew that we can hire, but until then, it will be a challenge I think. However, again I think you are 100% correct, CIG is going to make sure solo players can operate the ships they own, one way or another

      Ah you are new the the use of NPC crew and how good or even available they are will depend on your rep - you keep coming back with corpses and you will not be able to hire crew.
      And effectiveness is player -> NPC crew->Blades CIG has always intended for multi-crew ships to be crewed by players so yeah flying big ship solo will be very hard.
      You have to manage your crew and hope they are good enough to get the job done, better crew requires less management but cost far more - so you profits start to drop fast,

      Well i definitely disagree with that. Everything is perspective in the end, and I am a backer who has been here the entire 10 years. I stand by everything I say in all of my videos. I feel very positive about this game, and play it ALL the time.
